Your videos are detailed and easy to follow. Do you have one on Deck leveling for the Raptor?

Exactly what I was looking for, Dennis. Thanks. Do you think it’s worth it to sharpen the old blades or install new ones?
@dwcoffey
@dwcoffey Год назад
Thanks for watching! Yes, I actually keep two sets of blades. When one set gets dull, I replace them with a sharpened/balanced set (I have a video on sharpening and balancing), then sharpen and balance the old set so they're ready for the next round. I'll do this until a set is worn too far, then I replace it with a new set.

Hey Dennis. Good video. I traded in my Husqvarna YTH22V46 "only 206" hours on it for a Cub Cadet 46". Better stability and power. Hope you're doing well.

I heard that magic word…….KROIL. Good Man! I have a 42” Husqvarna lawn tractor with a factory installed water hose port. I use it religiously for about 5-8 minutes after each use (3/4 acre) and it keeps my decks underside clear of grass buildup with just a very thin film of grass remaining and there is next to no rust after 8 years. I see your mower does not have those washout ports. If you installed one on each side of your deck and used them do you think that it would help with removing that grass buildup and eliminate the need to scrape?
@dwcoffey
@dwcoffey Год назад
I do think washout ports would help, especially with the mulching kit installed. It would need a port for each blade compartment. Thanks for watching!

I have the same mower. You're using mulching blades. Do you have or need the mulching kit? Is there something that blocks the side discharge or is it just stock? I'm about to change my blades for the first time and Gator type mulching blades are the best from I have been told. Thanks for the video
@dwcoffey

Thanks for watching! I use mulching blades with a mulching kit installed. The mulching kit includes baffles between each blade chamber on the deck and a plate that blocks the discharge chute. Gator type mulching blades seem to work best for me, but I don't buy name brand. Here's what I've been buying lately and they work fine: amzn.to/44jgrgz

Thank you for sharing this. Do you have to block both blades? I blocked the blade I was trying to replace and the other still turned. I never could get the dang bolt loose with a breaker bar.
@dwcoffey
@dwcoffey Месяц назад
Thanks for watching! I don't block both my blades, just one does the trick. Some blade bolts are left hand thread and some are right hand, so if you can't get it to budge, try the opposite direction.

Hi Dennis, did you get rid of your Husqvarna mower, which do you like the best? I still have my Husqvarna lgt2554, it has 670 hour's, still going strong. Thanks, John
@dwcoffey
@dwcoffey 5 месяцев назад
Hey Johnny, the Husqvarna is still in the family. I gave it to my step-son. It has over 500 hours on it and still doing just fine! I like the Hustler a bit better because its faster. But the Husqvarna is better about not slipping on the grass, going downhill while mowing, and not letting the deck clog up, even with mulching blades. So it's safe to say they both have strengths and weaknesses. I'd still cut with either one and be happy. Thanks for watching!

Great video Dennis. Am I the only one that files the paint off from the sharp edge of brand new blades?
@spresc2180
@spresc2180 Год назад
Nope! To me they do not feel sharp enough with the factory paint on the cutting edge.
@dwcoffey
@dwcoffey Год назад
Thanks for watching! I know some people do because they put a better edge on the blades before installing. I generally do not (as long as the factory edge is ok), because the paint probably wears off within minutes of the first cutting.

Is it necessary to use an impact driver or will an impact wrench also work?

Either should work fine. Thanks for watching!

how many hours roughly till the blades need changing
@dwcoffey
@dwcoffey 10 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching! That's hard to say because it all depends on what type grass you are cutting, how much dirt/sand/etc your blades are exposed to. I cut centipede and have a lot of exposed sand, I get about 30 hours before I need to sharpen my blades.

My drive belt broke after 10 hours . Why ?
@dwcoffey
@dwcoffey 8 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching! Hard to tell George...could be a defective belt, could have been installed incorrectly by the factory or the dealer. No belt should break after only 10 hours though.
