which line is the return line on the crv?

@@mikefleming660 disconnect the line on the passenger side of the transmission filter and add a short length of line to it.

I have the same CRV 2008, yes there is an transmission fluid filter there, I just changed mine.

Iirc, the filter is towards the front of the vehicle, it’s just an inline filter connected with hose on either end. On some civics I’ve see, the cat filter is part of the transmission,but is quite easily changed as well.

Yep, Honda is different. Vehicle on level ground and the engine off.

John is correct. It's supposed to be checked within just a couple minutes of being shut off too. To be honest, though, it doesn't fluctuate that much between hot and cold. I've checked them both cold and hot.

I don't know, you can call a Honda parts dealer and see if the part numbers are the same.

This is a torq convertor regulator shift transmission. It works alot better with the new fluid.

Already informed the customer next oil change were doing it again. The last oil change place told them there fluids were all in good shape.

@@JohnSadlersAutoRepair Good plan as long as the customer buys off on it. On my own 2008 Odyssey, rather than do 3 changes every 30K, I do one drain and fill every other oil change. That turns out to be around every 12-13K miles. Keeps it nice and clean all the time. When I suggest it to customers they often think I'm taking them for a ride. With 210K on the clock now, and having bought it brand new, I'd say it works nicely. Never a hint of trans problems.

Hi Aaron, yes you can do that. A small amount over the fill line has not been a problem in alot of vehicles I've seen in my shop.

Hi Daniel, not at all. Most of those spec's state put that amount in and then double check and fill to full mark as required. I find alot of vehicles that require more than the service manual states.

Mine took about 3.5 3.75 also - just a drain and fill. 2009 cr-v. Still need to change the filter..

They don't have an external filter that I know off. The most important part of this job is to drain the old fluid out when it's warm. Be careful, wear gloves! Also I use only Honda transmission fluid on these jobs.

Hello, on this model there is no external filter to change. The important thing is to make sure the fluid is hot when you drain it. Where gloves so you dont get burned.

Honda doesn't say a filter change is necessary.

@@hael8680 Nope-- its a filter... if anyone does replace the filter, I've read best to use a honda one (not an after market one)-- they should cost about $30-35 at a honda dealer.... On this model there is no external transmission filter. I make sure to drive the vehicle and drain the fluid out when it's hot. Be sure to wear some good gloves, the fluid will be warm/hot!

I am not aware of any transmission filter externally to replace. There is no transmission pan on this.

Yep! Customer told me they recently purchased it and all the maintenance was performed, lol.

36 ft-lbs for the transmission fluid drain plug and 29 ft-lbs for the oil drain plug if I remember correctly - just did them over the weekend. Both torques seem excessive to me, but that is what they are and that is how I torqued them.. About 8 ft-lbs for the oil filter. Yes I use a torque wrench for everything I can. That's how the engineers designed it.
