Great Idea to use Child labour LOL. That Air filter reminds me of the 1980s Motorcycles, K&N Air filters, we used to put them in our parents Ovens to dry them out. The oil filter seems a faf, I have the same problem on my current motorcycle, the oil filter is situated right above the exhaust downpipes

I often wonder why they design them this way. I’m sure it’s just to be difficult! Catherine to the rescue!

Hi. A bit akward to reach the oil filter, I suppose it's an incovenience of the two cabin version with the head next to the engine. Did you fill the new oil filter before fitting it, or would it become too messy to try to fit full of oil? Cheers

Hi, i didn’t fill the oil filter only applied a little oil to the rubber gasket before fitting. Just made sure it was almost full on the dipstick and then checked it again after turning it over.

so 10 pumps, stop, and wait? tell me about the air filter? surely it can't get an extra 50hp?

Yeah thats it, warm engine oil, 10ish pumps on the vacuum pump and it extracts all the oil. Other than fitting a 12v powered pump i've not yet come across an easier way to get the oil out. I was joking about the air filter, while its a vast improvement on the 'Volvo sponge' it dont think its given us any extra power really. Our old one was starting to disintegrate a little so it was time for a replacement. You can clean this one and you add a little oil to the material once that’s done.

@@BoatingwiththeBaileys when's she's back from Brighton I have a whole load of things i want to do... raspi already built. but i want to do what you did with the ESP in the engine room. convert to SignalK and feed into the raymarine Axiom 9 MFD hopefully. I am a fiddler and a coder. this is going to be soo much fun!

Yeah, its been really useful. If you do build an ESP, please do come back and share your experience. I would also be interested to see some temperature information from your MD2030. Ours does fluctuate a little and i think that's due to where the sensor is in the heat exchange and the thermostat opening and closing.
