LOL I'm shook that I'm actually included in anyone's ASOIAF theory breakdowns! I'm interested to see where this is going, as my interpretation of Littlefinger is that he's actually somewhat overrated and sort of metaphorically screams "fire" in a crowded theater, waits to see what happens, and then takes advantage of whatever fallout he can.

Never thought of it this way precisely before, but you’re right - the Purple Wedding was probably supposed to turn Lannister against Tyrell, the same way Lannister and Stark were set against each other previously. It all feels like tourney brackets, where Littlefinger doesn’t care who wins, he’ll just set out the next fight and the achieve whatever he's after. He probably didn’t even have the next tourney bracket planned in advance, because its impossible to predict all the crazy stuff that ends up happening.
@Mj_Jetson
@Mj_Jetson 2 года назад
Question about the Purple Wedding timeline. Sansa gets the hairnet shockingly early - at the end of ACoK, meaning Littlefinger commissioned it made before he left to recruit the Tyrells. At that point, Bran&Rickon weren’t “dead”, Robb hadn’t broken faith with the Freys, Sansa was still betrothed to Joffrey and she hadn’t flowered yet, so she’s far removed from being the super marriageable key to the north. What was Littlefinger thinking with that hairnest? If he a super-genius who predicted that Sansa would be married to Tyrion by the time of Joffrey’s wedding, and planned to kill Tyrion then? Did he just have a general plan in place, that he could kill someone at Joffrey’s wedding as a distraction to extract Sansa, and if the Tyrells didn’t want a Margaery-Joffrey marriage, or if Stannis won at the Blackwater, then no loss - he’d apply the hairnet to some other scheme down the road?

I don't agree 100% with Preston Jacobs, but I don't think his analyses can be dismissed easily. He does a fantastic job at connecting points that certainly went over my head like the Tyrell's probably not being involved in Joffrey's poisoning. It's always interesting to see how other people's minds work when it comes to theories. I'm a fan of all these other RU-vidrs, and after watching these two I'm following you as well. Personally I've always seen Littlefinger as a follower of Chaos, similar to how House of Black and White worship the many Faced God, not in the way that he actually worships, but he seems to believe that the chaos of war allows him to acquire more influence, that's the real currency he's always been after. I think he really wants to be like Tywin was basically running the kingdoms, while Aerys wore the crown.

OK I really like this series so far. It’s a really interesting point that, with all of the questioning and prodding for so many other aspects of the series that sounds been doing since it started, no one‘s ever really questioned the base shared assumption that Petyr still genuinely holds some kind of one-sided love for cat, when he has every reason to hate the entire Tully family. That he is just after power for Powers sake because he wants to be at the top, when he’s already powerful enough to live beyond his means and still chooses not to for the most part I genuinely do think that he wants to climb the ladder, and that there is truth in him doing whatever he can to achieve it after the humiliation he had at the hands of Brandon Stark, but it’s also entirely possible that he does genuinely just want to burn the realm to the ground, not to be king, but just out of petty spiteful revenge of the entire system of lords that Led to his humiliation and inability to possibly be with a girl that he loved a long time ago. Petyr is my favorite character in the series, and I’m going to be cosplaying him at comicon this weekend, but it’s always fascinating to see these different takes on what drives his character in the first place, considering we know so little about what his goals actually are and spend zero time in his head
@shizachan8421
@shizachan8421 Год назад
I think he can do both tbh, genuinly love Cait while hating the Tullys, maybe even hate her as well. Martin seems to be aware of the fact, that you can love and hate somebody at the same time. Jaime holds complicated feelings for Cersei and Theons entire betrayal was based on the fact that he loved the Starks so much that he wanted to be one of them and because he couldn't have that, he decided to hate them instead and steal their ancestral home.

The Littlefinger-Tyrell alliance seems pretty legitimate to me. LF offers to support Ned if he backs Renly and he does convince the Tyrells to intervene against Stannis on the Blackwater. They differ on who they want Sansa to marry but they both want her out of King's Landing. Even if the target at the purple wedding was Tyrion, the Tyrells would still want him dead to widow Sansa.
@randominternetguyoffical
@randominternetguyoffical 2 года назад
Hmm, to me there's tons for problems with it... The big ones being how would that alliance start? Why would they trust him? Can we believe that LF wasn't lying to Ned? (Like would he have just gone straight to the gold cloaks and arrested Renly and Ned?) Why doesn't he back and install Renly himself when he clearly could have? Why wasn't he involved in a Tyrell exposure of the Lannisters and a queening of Margery with marriage to Robert, when he clearly could have? Doesn't work for me personally. Tho he certainly wheels and deals with them I can't see any real cooperation or alliance to any faction with LF.
@aaronginsberg4993
@aaronginsberg4993 2 года назад
@@randominternetguyoffical LF and Renly worked together for years. They trust him for the same reason Ned and Cersei do: everyone does. He'd support Renly because it keeps Stannis off the throne (kind of important if you believe Glidus on Sweetrobin's parentage). How do Renly and Loras escape KL before Cersei's coup? How the heck did Robar Royce, a knight of the Vale, end up on the Rainbow Guard? Relatedly, why can't Petyr persuade Bronze Yohn to support him? Who told Loras about the mountain's horse? Loras isn't otherwise shown to be a brilliant tactician. It's a massive rabbit hole once you start looking at it.
@randominternetguyoffical

@@aaronginsberg4993 Robar on the Kingsgurad a Petyr thing? idk about that one lol And Petyr setting up the Loras horse thing? idk about that either.. Now Baelish bribing the master of the list to place Ser Gregor against Ser Hugh yes, and yes I believe the Mt. was told by a Baelish agent or paid to kill Ser Hugh most likely. Some rabbit holes go deeper than others and only some holes contain rabbits, I feel like there certainly is some LF and Tyrell overlap, but conspirators at large and length? I'm not sold yet. However this has ben on the radar and I do plan to investigate it further, so if you wanna link me some stuff that would aid greatly in the research!

Jon Arryn: light hair. Broad shoulders. Harry Hardyng: sandy hair, blue eyes. It is said that has the look of Jon Arryn in his youth (Winds of Winter, Alayne I). Lysa Tully: auburn hair, blue eyes (like Cat and Edmure). Littlefinger: dark hair, gray-green eyes. slight and short for his age as a boy, he is still short man of slender build. Robert Arryn: brown hair, big eyes. Small and painfully thin for his age. So... Shouldn't he have auburn (Tully) or sandy (Arryn) hair AND blue eyes (Arryn, Tully)?

His resentment towards the Tully and Stark families and the high nobles In general isn't only probable but evident in the text, imo. He's a self made man,it stands to reason he'd despise all those spoiled high lords and ladies who looked down at him,hurt him both physically and emotionally and never truly let him join the club. He wants power as a form of revenge. When it comes to Petyr being Sweetrobin's dad,I believe in it 100% but I don't think GRRM will give us a definite answer either way. He said he preferred authors who ask questions to authors who give answers, and it shows.

My personal headcannon is that Jon Arryn actually USED Petyr to get Lysa pregnant, thats why he always fullfilled her wishes giving him the Coinmaster postings each time. What’s up with LF's Sansa plans? The fandom assumes he’s obsessed with her, but if we’re questioning his feelings for Cat, should we do likewise for Sansa? LF has a long-standing plan to kidnap her, makes advances on her, and did have that weird hair-touching moment at the Hand’s Tourney. But there’s also plenty of times when Sansa could’ve died: 1) Joffrey the loose cannon could’ve executed her with Ned, or any time in ACoK when he was beating her, or the abuse could’ve driven her to kill herself; 2) during the Blackwater; 3) during the Purple Wedding, she could’ve been blamed for the death and arrested, or fallen when climbing down the cliff. And if LF wants to sleep with her, then we assume he doesn’t want anyone else sleeping with her. After all, he pits Stark again Lannister, driving a wrench into the Sansa-Joffrey betrothal, informs on the Sansa-Willas plot, and ensures Brune stops Marillion at the LF-Lysa wedding. Then again, there are plenty of moments when someone nearly sleeps with Sansa: 1) Joffrey could’ve taken her at numerous points during ACoK and ASoS (LF was out of town so he couldn’t have prevented it); 2) Tyrion nearly slept with Sansa during their time as man-and-wife (LF helped arrange this marriage, and was out of town, and I doubt he knew Tyrion’s psyche enough to be sure he wouldn’t claim his “rights”); 3) with Harry the Heir, I think LF's planning to invade the riverlands and forestall a wedding, and that Harry will die in the Winged Knight Tourney anyways, but LF's advice in the sample chapter for seducing Harry is basically “act promiscuous and try to get yourself alone with him”… maybe he’ll arrange for Brune to step in again, but there’s still the risk that things go horrifyingly bad for Sansa here. ...These aren't the actions of someone who thinks Sansa is irreplaceable, or wants to make her his queen or something.
@randominternetguyoffical
@randominternetguyoffical 2 года назад
You are most certainly onto the truth of LF's plans and connections to Sansa imo. I have an inkling of a thought about what Sansa is to LF, and it starts with he idea Preston puts forth that we can pin down when she becomes part of his plan (the hands tourney) This leads me to believe that LF had a fully functional plan prior to knowing hw was gonna kidnap her. To me this makes Sana the wild card, the unaccounted for variable, the true achilleas heel to all his LF schemes. Ill have to elaborate more, but I think her being the unplanned element and him having to essentially enter the world of "winging it" for lack of better terms is gonna play into how she helps bring him down a la The Ghost of HighHearts dreams. This ties into my belief that he had no intention to kill Lysa so quickly (or at all?) and that what where seeing in TWOW is LF making things up as he goes and not doing the best job of it. Hence the Mad Mouse making it into his inner circle, like yikes what a let down of his guard! the grain stores and price manipulations seem like part of a well laid plan. So i think were seeing th two worlds of LF's schemes clash. But to be fair I'm still mulling it over myself lol So no promises that I'm right!

"little finger has no reason to kill joffrey". i want to challenge that. not saying he did or didnt, but i could think of some benefitial outcomes this brings for him (even if its a risky af move but LF is nothing if not bold). 1. nobody wants joffrey to be king. he is the destroyer of plans, voletile, changes his mind every second, terrible to be influenced. now chaos is productive yes, but if *he* incites it and gives it a push in the right direction. in the long run, joffrey would ruin all that. he has the tendency to suddenly turn on everyone in his vicinity, so he might turn on LF too. now tommen is much easier to steer AND joffrey's death creates enough chaos to distract from LF 2. it doesnt matter that much who gets blamed for joffrey's death, there are plenty people with more "reason" than LF. Tyrion, the Tyrells, the jester who was humiliated by joffrey could have taken revenge. little finger is pretty low on that list so it is likely *someone other than him* would be blamed, giving him clear coast 3. his goal was to get close to sansa. even tho she is married to tyrion, joffrey still tried to abuse her, torment her and humiliate her. killing him can be sold to her as "protecting and caring for her". her abuser is dead, he can't hurt her anymore. also by implicating the tyrells he drives a wedge between them. if they did it to joffrey they could do it to *her* if they decide she's not useful. so she loses every support she might have *besides little finger*. she can only trust *him* 4. in the chaos he was able to steal her away, "saving her". tyrion didnt have to be dead for that. the marriage was never consumated so it is technically invalid. she is now entirely dependent on him. he did her a "favor", getting away from all the people who would only hurt her and nowhere else for her to turn to. 5. killing tyrion would have made sansa free but not much else. the lannisters didnt really care about him, his death would be tragic but not cause the same uproar. they'd be happy to see him dead actually. joffrey's death causes instability, it makes the wheel turn, more opportunities to exploit. and as stated before, tyrion doesnt need t be dead for the marriage to be invalid. so yeah i dont think he would have planned it through all the way but he didnt have to. it didnt matter if tyrells or tyrion got the blame. he can use that as things develop, he only needs he corner stones to work. joffrey dead, upheaval in the kingdom, a distraction and sansa free and dependent on him. i think theorizing we assume every plan has to go perfect, be thought of in every detail and all of it working perfectly. sometimes plans dont work as intended, sometimes only the start is important and it doesnt have to be planned all the way through cuz LF can find opportunity in any outcome. and he's not afraid to wreck the status quo even at great risk, just to see what turns up
@randominternetguyoffical
@randominternetguyoffical 2 года назад
I feel the base assumption that LF, just likes chaos and "turning wheels" is unfounded. Like yeah, LF says some things about how he likes to confuse folks but like what...? are we just believing Littlefinger now? So I would reject everything related to Joff dying causes, wheels turning, chaos upheaval etc until It can be reasoned that we can trust LF's statements Additionally being unpopular isn't a motive for LF to kill Joff. LF personally gets along fine with him and his regent and hand more importantly. I mean at that point Joff only technically king, Tywin is ruling the kingdom. And like having a clear coast, isn't grounds or motive for murder, nor is it a benefit to murder and there's billions of ways to steal Sansa... too many holes in all those ideas idk, seems like there really isn't any other good way of explaining what happened there, other than LF, tried to kill Tyrion so as to free up Sansa from the marriage, at a venue that was full of enough other suspects that LF could make a clean get away. But Joff was a greedy douche and ate the poisoned pie.

There was one suspect during Purple Wedding that could be blamed for Joffrey's death - Oberyn Martell. He even admits it himself while talking to Tyrion: "I have much to thank your sister for. If not for her accusation at the feast, it might well be you judging me instead of me judging you. Who knows more of poison than the Red Viper of Dorne, after all? Who has better reason to want to keep the Tyrells far from the crown?" So the original Tyrell plan could involve blaming Oberyn, not Tyrion for the poisoning. Indeed, if it weren't for the Joffrey's and Tyrion's confrontation, he could be treated as the first suspect. Yet it was Littlefinger who took care that there was a feud between the young king and his uncle. Another thing that bothered me was the reaction of Tywin Lannister. What did he think of his grandson's death? Did he really believe Tyrion had done it or he just used Joff's death as the opportunity to get rid of his detested son. Or, and, this can go even darker, did he know that it was Olenna's doing and accepted this understanding that Joff would be the next Aerys, another mad king (there is this particular scene when Joff accused the grandfather of cowardice). And, of course, I agree that this elaborate plan to poison Joff via Sansa's hairnet has no sense at all. I mean, really, she could have changed her mind or change her dress or damage to hairnet. It would be much easier if Olenna had the poison all the time. I believe that while writing Purple Wedding George was influenced by the murders of Louis X and his infant son in The Accursed kings. But there the poisoner (Mahaut d'Artois) has the poison with her all the time. She also uses her innocent daughter Joanna as a decoy.

Ah the accursed kings! I have not finished the series and i'm really regretting it after making it 50% of the way through book 1 lol It's pretty clear the Oberyn poisoned Tywin at the least and that's what that conversation is playing with. LIke yes, it would have been easy to point the finger at him cuz he's the Red Viper, but also, he planned to go on trial and fight the MT once accused of Tywins murder by Cersei. So he in fact would have been in the hypothetical he's describing just a few weeks later. Least thats what I think. But more boardly Oberyn gives a big lecuture to Tyrion about Justice and how he's not about killing people who were innocent of crimes or down with punishing the innocent. So since he views Tywins kids as innocent of Tywins crimes, I just can't see him breaking character and killing Tywins grandson... doesn't make sense to me at least Personally I think that Tywin did believe that Tryion did it and then was like, "okay... well fuck at least I have a reason now to open hate him and disinherit him.." They had just had a huge fight and in a ton of ways Tyrion did have a motive to kill Joff as rash as it would have been to do so. But those are all my takes so, judge them as you will lol

I think it's fairly simple, it's easier to be given power than to take it. So he exhibits a pattern of behaviour, Step 1) pit the most powerful house in westeros against other powerful houses by causing war Step 2) assist the most powerful house in that war by using his skills at deception and manipulation Step 3) get enough power from them in rewards that he can ascend the ladder Step 4) profit???? Step 5) keep going, there is no end, the ladder is eternal
@randominternetguyoffical
@randominternetguyoffical Год назад
He helps forge an alliance between the two most powerful houses tho.. The Tyrells and Lannisters (both the wealthiest and most militarily powerful of houses. Stark and Tully are a bit less wealthy and posses less militarily capacity than either Lannisters or Tyrells (The Tyrells feild like 60-80k alone i believe) The war of the 5 Kings was very carefully crafted to target house Tully and use House Stark as fodder. So theres no big plan to pit just any old powerful houses against one another. This is part of what I bring up cuz there already was a plot to use Tyrell power against Lannister power. The Renly plot, the one he proposed to Ned before Ned sided with LF against that plot. So as for the end game, I think we need to look else where. And we need to consult Martin's inspiration for the character. I tackle those topics in parts 3-5, but I really think that trying to force the square peg of LF into the round hole of nebulous and non textual supported desire for the iron throne based on a line from the bad dragon show... isn't really the best way to look at him or understand his motives and the direction hes headed. But I guess we'll have to wait for winds to see for sure! Hope you've enjoyed watching the ramblings so far and I hope you enjoy the rest of the series 😁

My one problem with Preston's dismissal of the Tyrells' involvement is that Littlefinger has no way of knowing that Olenna would fix Sansa's hairnet (conveniently right before the feast and poisoning), so how could he have brought this up to Sansa when explaining his assassination plan if it wasn't actually planned with Olenna?
@randominternetguyoffical
@randominternetguyoffical Год назад
So he mentions taht the LF could have hid the poison in the net and planned for the servant/killer to say something, straighten it and then use poison. And it could be the case that Ollena just saw an off kilter hair net and was a busy body. It think its a much more glaring oversight that she would be involved in the poisoning and use the weeding cup.. like those both make no sense and actively can hurt the Tyrells though being caught or though accidentally poisoning Margery who's drinking from said wedding cup as much as anyone is. But that said, its still and odd scenario, so Idk that there really is any good way to clean that whole scene up 🤔 In the end I stand by the idea that the poisoning makes the least sense if its not Littlefinger therefore cuz its a book and no real life that LF is probably the most reasonable suspect. The tale in its entirety becomes the most rational if we put him as the killer. But were all just nerds trryin to riddle out some nerds writings so like what does any one know XD

What do we think of these Purple Wedding quotes: “His cupbearer poured a whole flagon of dark Arbor RED into the golden wedding chalice”, “The wine washed down over his face in a RED torrent”, “Joff yanked it from his hands and drank long and deep, his throat working as the wine ran PURPLE down his chin” and “There was still a half-inch of deep PURPLE wine in the bottom of it”? A bit of a tangent from Littlefinger, but I’m wondering if the wine was also poisoned? My personal headcannon is that Preston’s video is all true, but in addition, Olenna recognized the strangler and took a smidge from Sansa, then warned Margaery with a brief whisper in her ear and showed her the crystal. Margaery is then brought to tears by songs of Renly, and sees drunk monstrous Joffrey. There’s a Littlefinger quote (maybe he’s just lying, but maybe it’s a real and accurate observation) about Margaery: “She'll keep her queenly crown and her maidenhead, neither of which she especially wants.” She’s just 16, not the much older master-schemer of the show. I think Margaery poisoned her own wine with the crumb of strangler Olenna took, in an impulsive decision to not be stuck with Joffrey, politics be danmed. Though there’s not a lot of evidence for this, it would a) be a great twist if Margaery confessed to regicide in her upcoming trial-by-faith and b) from Littlefinger’s perspective, it would be a great demonstration of the theme “We princes make our careful plans and the gods smash them all awry” which I think is key to his improvisational modus operandi, setting him apart from the other schemers in ASOIAF and evil masterminds in fiction in general.

But killing Joffrey had a lot of sense. War was going to end, stability and prosperity was close, with Tyrells and Lannisters on top. He has to insure, that there will be still ferment, for war to endure. And for great houses to die. Because I think that's his goal. His smarter than Eddard, Robert, Jon (any of them), Tywin and all the other lords. Yet they are ones in power. They have money, eternal fame and possibility to marry almost whoever the fuck thay want, or at least to have anyone in bed. But did they do anything to gain this position? No. Absolutelly fucking no. They grand-grand-grand-grandparents did - like Bran the Builder or Lann the Clever. But only thing Hoster Tully or Doran Martell did, was to be born into a rulling family, and occasionally order people below them to fight in liege's wars. By all means - I don't think that Littlefinger is a revolutionary democrat, who wants to lead Westeros into technocratic rule of people better suited to rule than fat lordling whose ancestor did something great. I think that Petyr is an ambitious man, who just wants to prove the people who despised him that he is better. And he will prove it by destroying their plans, ending their lines, mocking them in eyes of future. By taking everything from them

In order to make the case that the random murder or destabilization of any powerful houses based on a dislike of perceived social imbalances is LF's MO, one needs to first present a case that LF holds this board set of moral/social/philosophical investments.... Idk if we can ascribe all that to LF to be honest The idea that LF cares about the meritocratic levels of Westerossi society at all is one that I find very very hard to support. I think you are on to the true nature and intentions of LF however I would argue that the scope of his objectives needs to be reassessed as well as his personal feelings towards the hierarchy and any houses he's allegedly targeting in general. (Are the Lanisters and the realm that deep in the crossfire? or was the purple wedding a botched plan? Does LF really need more War?) I'm gonna to go head to head with this concept next video when I lay out what I believe is LF's MO and such, but for now ask yourself, are his intentions really that broad? or could he be less concerned with the imbalances in meritocracy and more concerned with retribution against those who have personally wronged him (in his perceptions)
@huberthepner3754
@huberthepner3754 2 года назад
@@randominternetguyoffical I don't wish to be rude, but one might read and understand. I am clearly stating that LF is not a revolucioniary concerned with meritocracy. I am saying that he is holding a grudge against system in which he had to work his way up, and people he may concern as "lesser" are already in power despite doing nothing in order to reach such status. He wants to get as high as possible in political structure - but not to change it. He just wants to punish lords who despised him, and rule the rest of the world. He views all the others as inferiors, and himself as natural ruler. About assumptions - LF clearly thinks that he is intelligent, and despises a few highborns - this is banality. And other ones? I think that he would despise the system, as he saw Robert Baratheon and other incopenent fools ruling domains hundred times larger than his own. Even more - those inferior lordlings were mocking him because their grandparents did more than his grandparents, as if ones actions are not as important as ones made by ancestors. He would grow in bitter resentment, plotting to destroy all who dared to mock him. His actions takemt in books point to such psychological development

@@huberthepner3754 I'm probably being unclear because of text, apologies. I understand your point, however when you say "I am saying that he is holding a grudge against system in which he had to work his way up, and people he may concern as "lesser" are already in power despite doing nothing in order to reach such status. " you are highlighting an alleged concern with meritocracy in society. I'm rejecting this aspect of what you're saying "He wants to get as high as possible in political structure" Accepting this part of the statement "He just wants to punish lords who despised him," and then rejecting again this part of the statement "and rule the rest of the world. He views all the others as inferiors, and himself as natural ruler." It's a kind of a nuanced disagreement, but one arguments says that LF is angry about the imbalances in power (meritocratic social issues) particularly those that adversely affected him and this he's on a bender to get power cuz he thinks he deserves it and others don't and a bipoduct is getting to F over anyone who wronged him on his way to the top im saying that, he was a child who was wronged in a plethora of ways (most of which like the meritocratic ones don't really concern him) and that he is in fact trapped in a much more narrow revenge scheme against a very small set of individuals and legacies, a biproduct of which is some chaos and some status and power needed to accomplish the objectives, the goal however is revenge against certain targets and the amount of wealth and power he ends the day with is not the focal point.. nor is being th top of the ladder a focal point Typing all this out does not due it justice and I could sit here for days and never get started, so for now I'm putting forth the idea that the way we view him might be a little off. Ultimately I'm going to try to draw some big connections to Bruce Bunish from GRRM's Unsound Variations and to GRRM himself and how his personal experiences and thoughts are expressed in his body of earlier works. But again typing all this out is pretty hard so I'm probably just adding to the confusion. Couple points just nitpicking things here The message from Lysa that is supposedly delivered by Littlefinger's agent was sent BEFORE Bran's fall. Not after. The after Bran's fall bit in Preston's video is slightly misleading to make it seem like this Littlefinger agent wasn't supposedly at Winterfell for a very long time before the assassination attempt. Although it could just be an honest mistake. The other thing is that GRRM said before the publishing of ASOS that it would reveal who the catspaw assassin was sent by and in that book, two different characters independently come to the conclusion that it was Joffrey. While it's pretty anticlimactic to find that out in this way since Joffrey dies in the same book, it doesn't necessarily leave any direct clues pointing to anyone else. This is a minor point in comparison but Preston also has a tendency to take single phrases and bits of sentences out of context of the larger scenes in his analysis and mix up the order they are said which can sometimes feels like he's moving things around to fit his theories rather than forming his theories around the facts as they are presented.
@randominternetguyoffical

I actually wasn't aware that he mixed up that order of operations 0_0 I thought he was saying that the agent had delivered the letter and therefore was already in the Kings party and thus there at Winterfell when Bran fell. i.e. letter dropper and assassin were one in the same. @SupposeIRose
@SupposeIRose 2 года назад
@@randominternetguyoffical I mean that is also possible but the question then becomes how did Littlefinger know to specifically ask to assassinate someone in a coma who was in that coma unexpectedly and randomly by an action no one could have seen coming. Remember that Littlefinger isn't actually at Winterfell so specifically asking for Bran (the second son and fourth child) to be assassinated with a specific blade that could then be traced back and then give him the opportunity to pin it on the Lannisters is additional insight that he had no reason to have. As much as it feels like contrivance, the Joffrey answer seems likely just based in how sudden and random the act of violence is.

(no) or b) even think one would need to give a cats paw a dagger (no, like I cant think of anyone who'd do that actually? its too dumb) In the world of Ice and Fire, unnamed servants and stewards are organizing and running everything so LF, would just need to talk to, pay off, work with, work around, etc who ever is in charge of maintaining and cleaning the royal armory (everyone in kingslanding is on LF's payroll, but also one could just be a lord (LF is a lord (and be important (LF is important) and ask a servant (they are servants and paid to not ask questions of lords) and he could easily or his agent could easily get ahold of a dagger that no doubt Robert and everyone else forgot about. If we take modern morality, this is very problematic because this is a 23/24-year-old man eloping with a 15/16-year-old girl, not to mention that Rhaegar bungled a series of political alliances in the process leading to a lot of dead people. If we take medieval Westerosi morality, Lyanna’s agency doesn’t really matter and this is not ok because she was betrothed to Robert Baratheon - you might as well say that the Red Wedding was built on a lie because Robb loved his wife.
