There was a short manga called Agnes Style that's meant to happen between the prologue and chapter 1. Just daily life stuff that's told from Agnes' perspective. What's funny was that Van has a set of rules called "The Five Spriggan Mottos" 1. Collect a basic fee of 1000 mira per hour. 2. Only accept requests from clients in complicated situations 3. Only one sweet per day 4. Get a plenty of sleep whenever you can 5. Take hot showers in the morning; the sauna is a reward. The funniest part was that Van got lazy after the second motto and just wrote whatever he felt like to make it Five Mottos lol. Agnes only reaction was that she thinks that the last three are too cute to be Spriggan mottos, while also thinking that it makes Van look cute as well.

The rank doesn't affect anything outside of just getting more rewards. I would advise you though to try and get lvl 3 on every alignment.

Can’t wait for the next part! To be honest I miss the “Rounds”. It’s always so in depth for the npcs and your guesses or predictions are always fascinating to think about!

Like seriously, Agnes is becoming one my top favorite Trails girls in the series. She was going to overpay Van’s service, offered to work for him when he turned down the money, and let him get a bigger slice than her. I would ship her with Van so hard if it wasn’t for her age and the age difference, but I think she herself is going to fall for him (though I’m still curious about Elaine’s story)!

So it's interesting how they changed the localization for the Eight Genesi. In the Japanese, they were called the Oct-Genesis which has the obvious parallel to the Sept-Terrion. So I think your comment about how it being funny they're going with 8 might be onto something.

Okay, I am still not FULLY sold on the eng dub but the scene of Agnés and Van figuring out their working conditions and the *Flabbergasted sputtering* made me chuckle I really do like dynamic of these two together, hell I love almost everyone in Van's group that you eventually build up (Next 2 party members, the 'core' members are still my faves tho), Van is such a amazing character and protagonist both, don't take me wrong, I love Estelle's personality and Lloyd has some amazing moments, especially in Azure and Rean while he is the most 'anime' of the protags I don't think that is a bad thing, and following his story and his development from always self sacrificing for others to him finally accepting that he can be happy too is great But Van just... Has something unique going for him, he is more mature, more 'worldly', he has been around, knows how things work and is not afraid to go to the dark side if he has to to achieve his goal, but at same time, he has morals and refuses to work with those that would cross them, and despite being on the 'grey' side of the law he helps people in need, he might try to act tough but he is caring guy Not to mention his interactions with pretty much everyone are fun to watch, he takes the role he needs to take to help them grow and essentially fills role of sort of big brother/caring uncle for those around him, and I don't mean just Yumé here I really can't put it into words proper but ye, I definitely like Van the most of the protags, by a long shot

Unless I am misremembering horribly the Sprigan Rank does not affect story other then giving you some nice rewards (But some of the best rewards are not even gained through it, and instead through ingame 'achievements', some of the super rare quartz or other orbment related equipment is gained through that) A mechanic spoiler bellow, related to this question However as you probably by now might know you do eventually make certain choices that raise your 'alignment' and that is actually very important, as it not only changes certain parts in later stages of the game (That are very much all worth going through) but it gives you access to different 'allies' that help you out when *the time comes* (Sorry not sorry) I was going to recommend using ch. engine to see all the differences this choice brings but I am not sure if you will keep plying on PS, if yes you don't have that option so I can only recommend going with whatever choice you think is the most interesting to you and watch the other scenes on youtube or something like that, since you would otherwise have to replay the game to see them ingame yourself, I do think that all of the options you get are worth checking out, which is why I prefer PC where you can easily change the alignment through ch. engine (Also I am censoring ch.engine cause youtube is weird with its filters sometimes)

I seriously know nothing about anything that happens past the prologue of this game, but I feel like I already have Van's character archetype pretty much on lock: Guy who is edgy on the surface, has a pretty tragic past, and now puts on an indifferent and aloof front because he doesn't want anyone to know he has severe self-esteem issues and a fear of attachment, probably because he lost someone before. Probably also blames himself for whatever happened. The Elaine daydream from Reverie and the way she acts here also suggest the business he is in now may be his way of punishing himself for whatever happened in his past. The "I am a piece of shit so I might as well act like one and work a job a piece of shit would do" kind of guy. He's a lot like Crow in that way. Not identical, but similar. That is assuming I am right of course. But I have played enough JRPGs, and enough Falcom games, so I am pretty confident in my assumptions. No spoilers please tho. I will find our whether I am right or just a 🤡 myself.

So Van is the oldest protagonist in a Trails game. And I _think_ that he is the oldest chronologically.

SP doesn't matter for story. There is a mechanic that has story impacts but you haven't been introduced to it yet (as of this video). Even then, I'd recommend playing naturally/blind instead of trying to min/max that system although as someone already mentioned rank 3 in each one is useful from a gameplay perspective. Trying to be vague as explaining how it affects the story would be a spoiler.

Oh would you look at the time With the way it left off last time I thought the prologue would be a bit longer but apparently not, so we have like a 3 hour prologue, basically talking, walking, more talking, walking, and more talking. I know sometimes its coincidence and falcom something, but the song used for the intro keeps reminding me of crossbell. Or something like that? Maybe I'm overthinking. But after hundreds of songs its not surprising We're already in chapter one, but chapters are usually quite long, none of them have ever been shorter than 5 hours and its more like 10-20 hours just for a single chapter. I think anyway. If they have more or less npc density and side. You know I was thinking, in the last part how did the guys know where van and agnes went? Shrug. I mean really it would have been like. But they needed the fancy scene. Its kinda funny because agnes has been in her school uniform the entire prologue/first day. Oh hey its been exactly 12 hours too. Was there really a need for her to be wearing her uniform though? Shrug. So yeah. Four years ago..is not even that long. According to our "simple" timeline. So starting from the 100 days war (1192), then the dg cult incident, sky fc takes place in 1202, then cs1 and zero take place in 1204. CS3 takes place in 1206 and now the calvard arc begins in late august 1208, we're very close to 1209 already. Though there's still some time depending on the interpretation and falcom can compress an entire game into just a month or two if they really wanted to like in cs2/cs4.

Its kinda funny because agnes has like. It's like her 3rd or 4th different photo already? Not sure, they all look similar yet different. And yes agnes is 16, remember when renne was 11. But renne is 17 now. It would be really weird if they had like some ending shenanigans after all this time. I know back in sky fc there was like a funneh scene if you got the lowest rank, and in sky sc there's like some funneh lines in chapter 8 depending on your rank. Anyway chapter 1. Aaand they immediately throw us into a jaeger fight. Like in the other games. Even in cs1, fie doesnt show us the explosives until the end of chapter 2, so the pace is pretty fast. In the prologue we barely got to see edith at all, just a little bit. Though I guess if you're in the city they all look the same? Normal buildings and streets. Not even sure if we got to see the whole map of calvard yet. Oh yeah....if its anywhere near the size of erebonia, we're looking at least 5-10 major cities. I was thinking who yume reminded me of and uh. I mean its basically either tita, kea, or shizuku I guess? Or millium I guess. Though I doubt she's going to be as involved as any of them. Even if shizuku spent all her time standing on the sidelines I mean at this point we know(?) that renne is here so while I know she has her own things to do and falcom probably doesnt want to reuse characters more than necessary its kinda infuriating to know, that she is right there, but we dont get to see her at all. Like if agnes can take time off from school surely renne can as well? Alas. There's always the next game I guess. Considering its chapter 1 I'm honestly saying the chances of us even finding out anything about the 2nd genesi to be like maybe 5 or 10%, I'd put 0% honestly. Even chapter 2 might not, but we have to find htem eventually Unless they do the thing where they drop the whole group on us in the end, I'm assuming we'll only find 3 or 4 this game, maybe even only two? Two out of eight might be kinda sad though. So yeah van is 24, which is kinda funny. Uhh. Kevin should actually be 27 now I think? we havent seen him in forever (well since azure but still), so its easy to forget. Olivert was 29 and now he's 31 too. Even estelle/joshua/Lloyd/rean are like 22 now. Also means more backstory for van, whatever that is. Van and agnes does make me curious. There's elaine too of course, and all the others. If van guessed the epstein thing so quickly (only took a day), how long until he makes another correct (or incorrect?) guess? It is kind of hilarious though since the age of the cast members. back in sky fc we had estelle joshua and kloe at 16 and tita at 12, and then the others were between 21 and 30. In crossbell, Lloyd and elie and noel were 18 I think, then tio was 14 and randy was 21 and I'm not sure the exact for wazy and rixia but not far off either. Then in cs1 everyone was like 16/17/18 (its weird how falcom handled it), except fie was 15 and millium and altina, while sara and the rest were like 20/21+, then we had cs3. Dunno if we ever got nadia or swin's exact ages either.

Like the plotline so far has been preetty heavy. I can only imagine how it would be like, for someone who hasnt played any of the previous games and just started with this one. "Oh yeah by the way the world is ending in like one year" Anyway, van definitely seems to be less heroic ish compared to the others, although I think its implied that he used to be an ex bracer? So its more like, he's different but still. They do seem to be trying to have less overlap with estelle/Lloyd/rean, and more like joshua/kevin

Unlike the divine knights the genesi are really small...most likely they'll get stolen at one point, maybe even more than once. I'll be surprised if falcom doesnt pull that. Maybe I'm too pessimistic Speaking of, I mean sky fc and cs1/cs3 had some pretty brutal cliffhanger endings. It's really weird since right now I'm assuming the second game will be out around 2025 if we're lucky and 2026 if we're not, but thats some time away. Its been a week ish since the prologue. So basically this is the actual chapter 1 tutorial now. The only thing is I'm assuming they cant detain the grunts indefinitely, so once they go back to their boss they have to know that van and agnes got away(?)

The introduction is kinda confusing since I'm seeing it for the first time. Not much for me to say here, since we either know or dont know the characters and uhh. Falcom has usually been pretty loose on the spoilers but shrug I'm not sure how many characters show up in the other games. Like probably sky fc and sky 3rd have the smallest number of antagonists, since in sky fc its not even obvious at first, while here, that's a LOT of people. Not sure how they're gonna fit everyone into one game. Like in zero, uhm. Like you could count the number of named boss fights, because chapter 1 is just grunts, chapter 2, chapter 3 we fight garcia, then chapter 4 and final chapter, thats it. This time though it's implied the mafia(s) are really strong/large soo yeah. I'm really curious who will be showing up in chapter 1 though, surely they're not gonna make us go with just 2 members for much longer? Hmm. Falcom has generally not bothered to care too much about the point system, so its 350 points to reach aaa rank. From the content we see and the large number of characters in the opening I'm assuming there's at least 7 ish chapters, it just seems like way too many characters to fit into 4 or 5. The grading scale starts at e, then e++, then d, c, b, a, so that seems to hint around 5/6/7 chapters I guess? D rank only requires 40 points, but c rank requires 110 and b requires 200, a is 290 and aaa is 350, so its not quite linear either. Also I just realized. the other paper says mtsc, which I have no idea what it is but I believe that showed up in reverie as well. Hopefully they dont take too long to explain it.

Pointless change It's not like Khurga warriors is harder to say really... Yea I don't like that change, Khurga is much better imo just like Octo Genesis On unrelated note, Feri's voice is still not exactly what I would like (I just genuinely think the japanese voice for her, Van and few others is spot on) but it is better then what we heard in the trailer, that one sounded far more... Gruff then what Feri should have, she is not dainty little flower that needs protecting but she *is* a child, and that almost angry/mature sounding voice just reaaaaaaaally didn't suit her So ye, this is some brownie points for the dub, keep at it and you might actually sway me to like it
