Batteries are the lifeblood of digital cameras. Once you run out of batteries, you're done shooting. Solutions up until now have included charging at coffee shops and restaurants, taking a huge number of extra batteries, or just giving up once the batteries are exhausted.
But, with the new Leica-specific USB chargers from Nitecore, we can now charge on the go using USB power sources. Being able to charge while waiting at airports, during flights, driving in the car, or even in your camera bag as you walk around, you don't have to call it quits or hunt for AC power.
In this video David reviews the full range of Leica-specific Nitecore chargers.

Hello David, Happy New Year to you! Can you direct me to where I may read (or see the latest videos) about the Leica S-line of lenses? I am particularly interested in the review of the 35mm f/2.5 CS and the 120mm macro f/2.5 CS. My intention is to buy these ahead of the release of the S-3. Thanks

I'd direct you to my in-depth review of the Leica S007, and the supplemental trip report. www.reddotforum.com/content/2015/09/leica-s-typ-007-review/ www.reddotforum.com/content/2015/09/my-photographic-adventure-through-iceland-with-the-leica-s-typ007/ I took the camera on a 10 day trip around Iceland and used every single S lens (except the 30-90). Should give you a reasonable idea. Bottom line is this - there are no bad S lenses. They really are incredible across the range.

Hi, David. I've now got the NiteCore chargers from you for the CL and the SL, and the dual M10 which I ordered directly from NiteCore a few weeks before you started to offer it. To get the most out of the Nitecores, I find you need to watch two things. Some little phone bricks (and the USB socket on most laptops) don't put out enough current for the Nitecore to work at full speed. You'll see that the charging current gets stuck at about 300 mA. The Apple iPad charger that you show in the video does better than that, and the 3 amp two or three output USB chargers (about $10) that are available from any hardware store or BestBuy are even better. I don't have something like your 6 AH battery reserve store, but that sounds like a great idea. The second thing is that NiteCore charges fast when you start with the battery, say, half discharged, and stops (for safety reasons) before you reach 100%. With cameras like the SL and CL, that only have four bar or five bar meters, you would never know that. But the M10 family have a really accurate meter and they tend to say things like 80% when NiteCore stops. The solution is to charge til it stops, take the battery out, put it back and let it finish. That takes another 5-15 minutes, and gives me 100%. The voltage, current and total charge delivered (in AmpHrs) seem to be pretty accurate, and can give you a better idea of how much power is getting used up when you operate with live view or wifi (Fotos) running. Altogether, a big step ahead. Thanks for alerting me to them.

Does nitecore make a single battery charger for M10 or do you have to get the dual charger
@RedDotForum
@RedDotForum 5 лет назад
Currently, only the dual charger is available. As I mentioned in the video, I'd really like to have the option of a compact single charger for the M10.

Before I buy another battery charger, I need one or two spare batteries. Where can I buy extra Leica M10 batteries for a reasonable price?

I recently for my Leica M10 in the Leica Miami store bought a such pack made for TWO battery loads, and indeed I have been exposing it to various loading conditions in various countries - among those Denmark, my native country (max 230 V), Switzerland the same, and Japan (110V). In all of those countries, taking in consideration of course that the charging-load in Japan doesn’t provide the same charge capacity), the Nitecore battery charger does NOT provide FULL loads, mostly somewhere between 68-100 pct only, when the loader indicates FULL LOADED. Moreover the charger does not start charging for the SECOND slut until the first slut has fully finished loading. This latter might be considered “normal”...however, I would be grateful for an explanation from possible other users of the said charger as to the first behaviour described... the not fully loading to 100 pct. The batteries used are of same new date as my M10, thanks, PH.

How long does the USB charger hold its power in the field? I have an M10 and an M9. How many charges can you get from the pack in the field? I picked up a new charger last summer in Amsterdam, and it came with three cables, including a cigarette lighter plug so I can always keep batteries charged while I am driving. But having a back up pack in the field would be great, as long as it can be used for more than one charge.
@RedDotForum
@RedDotForum 5 лет назад
It will depend on the capacity of the battery pack. The one I use in the video is a 6700mAh model. The M9 battery has a capacity of 1800mAh and the M10 battery is rated for 1100mAh. You can figure out the amount of charges by dividing the capacity of the charger by the capacity of the camera battery. So, you'd be able to charge an M10 battery 6 times. Less for the higher rated M9 battery.If you step up to a 10,500mAh pack, you would gain extra charge cycles at the expense of a little more weight.
