This 1986 demo video is from a New York TV production company called Charlex. It highlights the advantages of a then-new special effects device called the Abekas A-62. This was a breakthrough product because it made possible for the first time multiple layers of video compositing without a loss in image quality. A new genre of commercials and show opens was born when video professionals combined their creativity with the A-62's capabilities. A Cherry Coke commercial and a "Saturday Night Live" open were among the first high profile works that Charlex made using this equipment.
Please note that a couple video glitches occur during the first minute due to physical defects on the source videotape.
