We were supper lucky and found this swisher 60" finish mower pull behind. You don't find these often down here mostly the rough cut or brush cutters. We are thankful to have found this and hopefully it will reduce the time mowing on Saturdays!

LOVE my 2 I purchased like that, I stripped EVERYTHING off the decks, baffles everything off the TOP of the deck, closed the discharge hole, cut out the full length of the rear back of the deck, then mounted 3 Predator 5.5 HP (173cc) OHV Vertical Shaft Gas Engines, mounted push mower blade holders & blades & for 2 years have had maintenance free cutting, NO belts, idlers, pulley's, springs, levers, bearings to replace, adjust grease and can use the original Swisher engine for the mower that pulls the cutter

I’m thinking of doing something similar we are already on second drive belt and we checked alignment and guides and everything but it eats that drive belt so was considering moving motor up and driving deck pulley directly

Nice work. Just a small fyi for others... i'd leave that second on/off switch in place if possible. It serves as a good deterrent for kids fooling with it and starting the machine. I leave the key hanging off the exhaust bracket, so it's right there, but also switch it off. So a child would have to use the key correctly AND put it in the On position. Just something minor, but a toddler fooling with something like that down on their level could be disastrous if we follow Murphy's Law. I have the older model of this (same motor/deck) it just had a more rugged rear of the frame. The PTO belt is a little too light duty (like 3/8inch), so i always intended to upgrade that (deck belt is fine). Every bearing on the mower is the same, all sealed, and available cheap on Amazon. Put tubes in the tires and you can discard the entire hitch tube piece and install a Larger tube Over the piece that attaches to the unti and that will be just the right size to mount a plain old ball hitch. Works 1000x better than that hitch-pin foolishness 👍

Is this the older three belt system or the newer 3 belts? If it's the three belt system, can you please tell me the size of the PTO belt?

This one only has two belts… swisher 60in deck

@weswidrig1745 the 2 going to the blade pulleys are 5/8 x 48 inch. The PTO belt is either a 5/8 x 46 or 45. I'm not sure yet on that one. I ordered both sizes and I'm waiting on them to come in the mail. I'll try and remember to get back on here to let you know.

@weswidrig1745 I just got the 5/8 x 46 inch belt and it appears that it will work. The 45 inch belt should be here tomorrow so, I'll update again of need be.

I have this same mower. What a disaster ! If the grass is three inches tall......Im down to less then 1 mile per hour......standing still ! This more dont discharge the grass out the sides. More or less it mulches the grass. Plenty of horse power..It will burn the belts off............but it will not discharge the grass ! Its a worthless machine ! My snapper 30 inch deck......I can move at 3 miles per hour with grass at 6 inches . One blade ....No problems !

It sounds like something wrong with the blades, perhaps installed upside down??

Tensioner? Wore out belt? I know the tensioner pulley doesn’t exactly line up with the belt. It rides the top of the pulley. This will cause you to go threw several drive belts as well.

@@Concretepmp1 Your 100% right.That was one of the first problems. The shoulder bolt that the idler pulley ran on was worn badly. The idler would not line up. That causes the belt to get hot because it slightly twists the belt just as it enters the main drive pulley. I also installed a wider idler pulley. That problem is corrected. Still.....almost no grass comes out of the discharge. It leaves behind small mounds of chopped up grass in line with each blade. And I did install the high lift blades. Still.... its a head ache !

I understand completely. I just got a swisher t60, figured hell, I’ll take a wire wheel to the rust, coat it, replace and parts grease everything good to go. I can’t figure out the wiring to and from solenoid. Something isn’t clicking on me , it seems simple. Could you or someone you know be of help to this issue?

@@Concretepmp1 So what dont work ? Solenoid dont kick in ? Or ? The battery good ? The ground good ? I just replaced the solenoid on mine too. They can be taken apart..( with care ) and filed for a new contact surface.......but just as cheap to buy new .
