I don't see it as a problem if it's similar to another older game. If anything I've always wanted more games in that vein and I love 2d pixelated games so I'm definitely going to give the demo a try.

Agreed. It's not as if they're launching together as competitors. As long as it's got something of its own identity, even if it's not strictly "better" in that regard, I think it'll be fine.

How about cryptographic verification to combat things like deep fakes? Or asset and inventory tracking? Nfts are incredible technology it's people that give it a bad rap with fake scarcity and prices. No reason they can't be fractions of a penny

"why not play os2 instead" is a pretty easy question to answer in my particular case, I have nearly 1000 hours in that game Hadn't heard of this game but will be keeping an eye on it now

I love the "Kingdom" games (Kingdom: New Lands, Kingdom: Two Crowns, Kingdom: Eighties), but I've played them all and I'll jump on games that use the same formulae and give it a new spin. Much like Vampire: Survivors (though not nearly so filled with glut) it's hit and miss, but there are some gems.

The problem with the armor system in DOS2 was that it encourages (enforces on higher difficulty) making a all-physical or all-magical damage party so you avoid half the skills of the game.

I always liked the various takes modders had on DivOS2 in that way. The original style is, yeah, kinda limiting. And enforcing a CC-heavy party comp. Stuff like Armor-Based Status Throws from long back and any number of alternatives more recent were great for fixing that in a variety of ways.

Yeah, I must say that I really hated that, having to use a ton of abilities without them really doing anything besides nibbling away at the magic or physical defense of an enemy. As broken and abusable as the system of DS I was I personally much prefered it.

@@Fragenzeichenplatte block-chain crap that corporations wanted to use as new monetization (worse than gambling) for games that brings nothing to gameplay nor story quite a lot of people promoted it despite of being just another scam and mostly comprised of stolen art (promising wealth while leaving theft and poverty)

I played the demo for a bit. I had an issue with how unclear it is to see things. Not sure if that's just cause of the color palette or if it is a much deeper problem. Other than that it was fine. Nothing to rave about and only that one thing to complain about.

This seems super cool! That said, the combination of chunky pixel art, with high-res character portraits, and to a lesser extent the high-res font, is rather jarring. I’m sure I’d get used to it tho.

The adoption of physical and magick armour is a big oof in my book. I hated it in DoS 2. It is probably the reason why I still didn't replay that game

The characters used to be NFTs. There are no NFTs in the game.

The DOS2 physical/magic armor system was kind of annoying, for reasons others have mentioned - you're encouraged to forego one or the other in the name of combat efficiency, limiting the fun by narrowing what skills + spells are available to your team. If you have two fighters and a mage, the two fighters are working together against the physical armor while the mage is wasting time on the magic armor. I'm not the biggest fan of the graphics, either, so now I'm not so sure I even want to bother with the demo I downloaded lol

The weird part is that if they'd just made it mandatory to have two physical and two melee characters, balancing the two damage types would have been an interesting tactical challenge. But of course they didn't do that, so it was better to just build a party of all one damage type.

I tried it a few days ago. The detour of going through the pirate den to get to the port really rubbed me the wrong way. Good bones in this one, but the writing and level design is really not doing it for me.

yeah, after reading the comments in that vid, I also checked this one out. and others. omg, that pirate one is so jank.. unplayble imho... Guild saga however was pretty impressive. yes, a 100% love letter to Divinity:os 2, and larien in general. .... or theft... whichever you prefer... the overly pixelated art is a bit jarring at first, but you get used to it. I def think people should keep an eye on it. I don't know if you allow links here. but Mortdog-TFT the riot dev made a post a couple weeks ago about palword and copying gameplay designs etc. man that talk REALLY applies more then it does for palworld. (as well as dark and darker>dungeonbourne>dungeonstalkers)

A corporation that tries to go down the NFT route just proves that they want to be scammers, which immediately makes me wary of this game. Even if they went away from NFTs themselves, they value squeezing out money over any artistic principle.
