Nice site. Really like the aesthetic. Very responsive. The colours blend nicely. The information is represented in a very interested and intriguing way. 5/10
i can see where Sephy is coming from though because I have always thought of light 6 as a 6 leaning towards a 5 and strong 6 meaning a 6 leaning towards 7
I'm a business data scientist and I sit at work all day making these types of reports, by the time I get home I want to kill everybody that I see on the street, and yet somehow I am happy to watch this video - I guess I have become what I despise most... A data nerd.
This made me realise that Chance the Rappers The Big Day is Anthony's second 0/10 ever. Big ups to Speedin' Bullet 2 the Head for being the first ever.
Petit Have you notice the only artists he reviews are white or black and no other races? He's clearly racist. He's always trashing black artists and disregarding other races as inferior to the Ayran race
That's actually amazing. Fader may have blackmailed you out of your speaking gigs, but when things like this happen you know you're still on the way up. 10/10 music critic.
Am I the only one who'd be interested in seeing a video about his reviewing process? Like how many times he listens to an album, how he kinda assembles his thoughts etc. It's something I've wondered for a while, his reviews strike me as being too well thought out for him to just wing it every time like I do when I listen to a new album. also how could you give DAMN. a 1 but the new CALassic a 7???
This is actually the first melon video I ever saw. Didn’t make a lot of sense to me the first time (I was pretty baked) but then weeks passed, and I started watching these reviews in my recommendeds, and now I’m on shrooms and I’m watching this again and I see the whole picture
This is super interesting. I could spend a while looking at this. As far as requests, I’d like to see more jazz. Finding new jazz is extremely hard, and the genre is really on the rise again, so I keep seeing some new albums come out and I’m recognizing names from Instagram, but finding deeper cuts is so difficult.
I just listened to the album this week and I was amazed. Then I wached Fantano's video and I was really confused. I guess he's just incredibly biased against SW. He also overlooked both Marco Minnemann and Guthrie Govan, that's when he crossed the line for me, though.
Matheus Violante that's true, the guy has made great music for decades, as a band and also as a solo project. Maybe melon doesn't care for it but he should watch some live shows to see what he's missing.
Nacho531 I appreciate vids like those bc they show Anthony ain’t some little bitch who’s not gonna give his honest feelings on the album bc everyone else thinks differently of it
Rashotcake Problem is his honest feelings didn't really reflect the quality of the album. He dismisses the instumentists (who I've already implied are excellent) and he gives little to no reason as to why he didn't like the album except for it being "too prog" for his taste.
Definitely want more “loud rock” reviews (especially if it’s hardcore or even if you’re ripping apart my favorite metalcore bands) Also your opinion helps us find different types of music worth checking out. If I see that yellow flannel, you can believe that I’m going to check out the artist.
Stop being so self-conscious Fantano. If you made an entire video of you saying “ya know,” I would watch the whole thing and continue to love your melon self ❤️
They used Shiny and ggplot2 in R to create those visualizations! We're making this kind of dashboard in my advanced data visualization class; it's really cool!
Speaking of requests to review Hip Hop, I'm not sure how you'll feel about the record, you may not love it as much as I do, but a local group called Shredders just dropped their debut called Dangerous Jumps. I think it's fantastic, particularly the beats. Also it'd be really cool to hear what you think of some records by The Dear Hunter. I don't normally bother requesting but I'm a big fan of your analysis of music and would love to hear what you think of certain records.
That Hiatus Kaiyote review was total BS, he completely missed the appeal of the album and kept nitpicking on things that didn't even matter in the album's context.
That hiatus kaiyote review was whack yo. There was a bit where you listed a bunch of things that make them interesting, then you said "take that all away and you're left with something average". Of course its going to sound average if you're looking for the average bits and ignoring the good bits
honestly so fucking glad fantano isn’t as positive as pitchfork on average, because i know if he reviews something positively (in a genre i enjoy) then i should actually check it out. pitchfork is wildly hit or miss
The reason Fantano‘s views are declining is not because his channel is less popular than it used to be, it is because he is reviewing fewer albums. He has reviewed fewer albums this year than all years since 2011
