If all of you think we are going to take this, you're wrong! Argue all you want, but I'm taking the kids to my sisters! She was always right about melon!
" i've been the busiest nerd since day one all of y'all boo boo Critiquing my score for kanye's album boo boo Calling me a fucking salesman just for fun boo boo Saying Cal is similar looking non stop BOO BOOOOOOO "
The title is literally explained in the last track. It’s not even sung, Kendrick isn’t even rapping he’s telling you what it means. If you still don’t know how to interpret it you’re fucking stupid
@@Garvant_ I personally feel full heartedly that this interesting and humble take was not meant to use excessive, nor random use of strange or smart adjectives to prove his insanely insightful, and well rounded point.
When arguing for 2pac’s music you said his work is Better than lil Xan’s, but everyone’s music is better than lil Xan’s. That’s not a point towards his music.
I didn’t deny that 2pacs music was better than lil xans, nor did I claim that I was a lil can fan, I just mentioned him because he thinks the same thing I do, that Tupac’s music isn’t that great lol
The To pimp a butterfly name is also a play on the famous novel “To kill a Mockingbird” which is a whole story sporting examples of racism in the 1900s and prejudice against African Americans.
Yeah hes done plenty other messed up things. He goes into why sexual harrassment is ok, why people of other races shouldn't be loved, ect. Besides that his reviews are sick soooooo 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
Its the they say it, so why cant we say it argument. And if they didn't want it being said, it wouldn't have had it in the music for it to be recited over and over again. See , its the logic, man. Thats why they say don't use the N-word, altogether.
I'm not going to disagree on that but how great can that be when he's replacing it with blackface and saying things like "I look less out of place than a black man at a father's day event"
The strip with Calvin’s mum is actually seriously clever. I think it’s a joke on how telling a kid not to listen to music because it’s “evil” will only make them want to listen to it more. Instead Calvin’s mum tells him that the bands are only pretending so Calvin no longer wants to listen to them because he doesn’t think it’ll annoy his parents
6:39 and I'm to believe you just *happened* to place yourself on *that* Tiny Desk screenshot in *that* spot? I mean damn, shots fired, the teef wars rage on.
@@lucky4696isMyPSNname I plan to at some point. 🅱️amthony 🅱️ambano's review sold it pretty well, so I'm curious to see if I like it. His review of that recent Idles album sold that album well too.
I really don’t understand people hating on TPaB as a title. To me just reading it and not even knowing the context and deeper meaning of it, it still sounds poetic and unique.
Evil Deeds The whole album has replay value to me, even though my favorite part of the album is the melody towards the end of “These Walls”. So yeah, it’s subjective.
The Charlie Ramirez I tweeted this to Anthony and was sure it would of been featured in this segment :( probably would of worked better for a let’s agree
"To Pimp a Butterfly" is a great title that makes a lot of sense with and without listening to the album. "To Pimp a Caterpillar" is a dumb title that just references Tupac because TUPAAAACCCC. The change was one of the best decision Kendrick made.
mariomcp ....you didn’t listen to the album...did you? Especially the last track.... I think this flew over most people’s heads, and I still haven’t quite unearthed everything that he was trying to say with the album....
To pimp a caterpillar acutally makes sense though, TPAB does not. He’s implying that pimping a caterpillar is what makes a butterfly. TPAB is a much better name but it makes way less sense.
zBJoker Sneakers the butterfly part was because of how it has to do with Kendrick evolving from a caterpillar to a butterfly in the last leg of the album or something like that and how a butterfly is pretty and the industry would do anything to pimp it and use it for money.
"To Pimp a Butterfly" is saying when you become the top tier butterfly that you're meant to be, do you fold under the pressures of BEING a butterfly (#1 rapper). "Tu Pimp A Caterpillar" stands more on the sense metaphor of Tupac going from Digital Underground (caterpillar) to All Eyez On Me (butterfly). During Tupacs come up in the biz, he was constantly being tried, broken, set up by the media but never folded. That's what pimping the caterpillar means. The both make sense but only 1 makes sense without context.
This is an old ass comment but im glad someone else realised how hilariously fucking stupid that take was. "Disliking something makes you racist" gotta be the most narcissistic and close-minded take of all time. "I like it but u dont because ur racist". Braindead
Pika InParis It kind of is though. They talk shit on anything that isn’t black metal, anyone they see who isn’t as cvlt as them they will bully and treat them like dirt, and they even do this within their own genre, if a band isn’t using 1000% distorted guitars and the lead singer isn’t screaming like a goat getting burned alive then they will go absolutely out of their way to hate the fuck out of said band, or hate on its fans as well. That IS elitism
The first time i heard the title "to pimp a butterfly" i remember thinking about it and kind of breaking it down in my head. For me it means to destroy something beautiful for your own gain. I haven't even heard the album (i know) but I've always loved the title, probably my favorite album title actually.
You know there is the Let's Agree spinoff series? @Heinrich Dubloon No duh, it shows up in like every recommended after watching one of these get r/woooosh-ed
WeJammin yeah, I have to agree. I can still listen to more than 50% of All Eyez On Me without hitting the skip button. There are still some classics on The Chronic that I can listen to again. It just doesn’t have the same replay value in my opinion, at least compared to AEOM.
I don't think that the mom's hot take in that comic is meant to be taken entirely seriously. Calvin and Hobbes always had a massive satirical bent to it.
The title question always being first throws me off a little because I usually tune out for the first couple of questions until it’s more likely to show up
Lol. But yes. TO PIMP A BUTTERFLY IS THE TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD OF MUSIC CONFIRMED!! Hmmmm... I wonder what To Pimp A Butterfly's first draft was like. Guess we'll have to pry it out of old ass, mentally declining Kendrick's barely there head.
Anthony during the TPAB segment looks like my 35 year old dad when he moved to florida and constantly wore aviator shades and wore a over shirt jacket like that
Let’s Argue: Death is BY FAR the best death metal band there has ever been, and deserves to be regarded in the same respect as Sabbath or Metallica. The influence they have on extreme metal to this day is huge, and it can not be understated.
I think the bass introduction to an episode is a perfect intro taking the Melon's voice specifications. If it was guitar, it should've been tuned low siding to bass we're been treated so frequently
It's really great to see Colors become a thing in the US. As a french rap fan, I've seen their audience go from francophones and other europeans to a very wide international community. Especially check out Sopico, Dinos or Isha on the channel, their music surely relies a lot on lyrics, but I think you can enjoy it even as a non-french-speaker
