@@CasuallyCommenting I was actually an FBI agent during the records release, when we saw the title we actually had to launch an initiative in which kept tabs on Tyler to make sure he in fact wasn't an actual goblin. And fortunately that wasnt the case 👍
I feel like a major reason why a lot of people like me who were big on OFWGKTA didn't want to acknowledge the talent gap was that we were kids and scared of what that meant. I remember specifically trying to avoid conversations about them splitting up or the Hodgy Tyler beef or the talent gap because I felt like OF represented us a lot, and I was always scared of being left behind by said friends or leaving them behind because OF reminded me of that in a way, sorry for the weird rant it's difficult to explain Edit : grammar
I am very curious what the other members are up to these days. Obviously Tyler, Earl, and Frank have achieved massive success. But what about the others?
@@Guymanbot97 Syd and the Internet have been doing pretty good. So has Vince Staples. I'm not sure about Domo and Mike G but I know Left Brain and L Boy are still making music. Last I saw of Hodgy was a picture he posted on his Instagram of him at the studio last year. Lucas works at the Fairfax Supreme store if I remember right. Taco DJs for Tyler and I guess Jasper fills in for him a lot of times.
KAKAKAKAKAKAK this is wonderful! PRANK! It is terrible! I looked in the mirror and saw something UNPRETTY: my face. KAKAKAKAKAKA! But I am happy agayn because I have TWO HOT GIRLFRIENDS and I use them to get views on my videos! KAKAKAKAK!!! Good day, dear btian
I never comment but must do for this- I was listening to an Usher song that came on a Spotify playlist in my kitchen literally today and had this exact same thought. Today!
@@fantano Anthony I got a new mug for my 18th birthday. Would you like to see it? I can send a picture to your email if you wanna see. This is not a joke btw
@@bizarresquad3868 bruh he doesn’t want to see it. It’s cool that u put effort but he doesn’t want to respond to comments in a random comment section bro. Every single time a RU-vidr makes a comment every single person wants to respond to it, they rlly don’t want that it’s prolly just annoying. There are thousands of people making stuff for creators and sending it to them it’s rlly hard to keep track of it. Edit: I realized u aren’t even talking about like a “Fantano themed mug” that u made. That just makes it worse.
It’s kind of crazy how you and Tyler both kind of grew as creators and started at the same time forming your own corner and niche on the internet and social media. Now your both massive and are a huge impact to your respective cultures
Craziest thing to me was learning, a few years ago, that Fantangle has been sitting in a chair the whole time. Always looked like a STANDING MAN to me. Thanks for the great vids over the years bruh bruh
When I was a kid I loved the amateurish production and the fact that it was all Tyler’s work. It was super inspiring to me back in the day. And the more obnoxious tracks were hilarious to me
Goblin is probably one of the most important albums I've heard in my life. Maybe THE most important. It completely changed my opinion on rap music and my perception of narrative albums altogether. While it hasn't aged well in some respects, there are some absolutely incredible moments on this record and one I'll always hold in high regard for my own personal journey in music.
I feel so old. I can’t believe 2011 was 10 years ago. I went a college freshman straight out of high school to an adult with a 9-5, taxes, and a mortgage.
I've recently been listening to his full discography and I noticed certain sounds and "riffs" ( I guess you could call it) that appear in some form throughout Goblin - Cherry Bomb and were sort of crystalized in Igor. I thought that was interesting how he really had been playing with these ideas throughout his career. And despite each album sonically being different, they all feel like evolution and not like completely different people made the album and just slapped his voice on it.
I was the perfect age when odd future came out in the early 2010’s. I don’t think it’s surprising that Tyler, Frank and Earl have gone on to have the critical success they did later on in the decade. Saw Tyler’s first concert back in the UK in 2019 and it was breathtaking. Have a special place in my heart for Goblin, but I do see it’s shortcomings
that comparison to exmiltary during the goblin review made me check out death grips for the first time, still love that group and album. I can't believe that was 10 years ago already lol
I discovered both this album and your channel in 9th grade around November 2011 and both would be my first exposures to things that have been a frequent part of my life up to today. This was right as I was getting into alternative hip hop and death grips and things like that and I’d always watch your album reviews for them, so your channel has put me on to so much music discovery over the years. it’s crazy to see how much both members of odd future and your channel have grown and remained relevant to each other. My college roommates and I would watch thatistheplan all the time. Every time I hear goblin or watch that review I just think of all the experiences and events I’ve gone to for these artists over the past 10 years and how this review was from the very beginning of what I would be following closely up to now at 24. I even got to see death grips at camp flog gnaw in 2016 and a part of me expected to see you in the pit lol
Was my favorite album when it came out, being only 14 at the time, but at this point i can only appreciate it as both a stage in Tyler's career and my developmental years.
I subscribed to you around this time, specifically around this album, Hot Sauce Committee part 2 and Kendrick's section 80. So, 10 years ago? dang, time flies. It's been cool seeing you get increasingly popular year after year.
cannot believe it's been the best part of a decade that i've been both watching anton fanton and listening to tyler. i feel as old as time. i remember seeing the yonkers video and just thinking this is the future, kill people burn shit fuck school lmao. must have been like hearing the ramones in 1975.
i loved this album when it dropped i was like 17 and apart from songs like she, yonkers and nightmare i havent given the album a full listen until i decided to pick it up on vinyl yesterday... im 26 now.. and I think i love the album just as much partly because of nostalgia but also because i feel like its a gritty representation of angsty youth. I also think the album shows a lot of the uniqueness of tyler and his talent (hindsights 20/20). i see it as a time capsule and i enjoy looking back on it like "wow look at this kid making this vulgar album and spitting out whatever filth he wants as a angsty dramatic middle finger. and look at what he is now a well respected and in my opinion creative genius in some respects." im glad I picked this album up it was a interesting trip down memory lane.
Dude, I remember watching this when I was in high school. This exact review. Anthony always put in the work and I like that he has made a career off of this. A single tear in my modelo
I still like Goblin, can't believe you didn't mention Analog or Radicals. Those are some other highlights for me. Also enjoy Transylvania which you trashed upon lol
It’s definitely true that all the responding to specific critiques not only makes it seem like he really does care but you’re right that it really dates the material
What’s amazing... and I’m sure it’s been commented already, is how much music has changed since then. As lack luster as the production is, it was so different than everything else which I want to believe played somewhat of a part in its appeal.
This type of content may feel lazy to make for you, but I think that watching you react to things is highly entertaining. Especially your old reviews I'm beginning to discover. Getting insight on your thought processes can be very refreshing! I know that sounds vague but idk how else to describe it lol. I'd appreciate more content like this :).
