I'm from the North East and have been propositioned a couple of times on my way to a club or into town of a night. The Lasses always look tired and washed out (not surprising really) and dressed in the stereotypical supposedly alluring attire, even in winter. At the end of the day they're all someone's, Daughter, Sister or Mother.
that's exactly my thoughts. These poor girls have been neglected and hurt and now exploited. My heart goes out to them - poor things! And send a curse to those who put these poor children in that place!
I spent about 15 years working in that area from the late seventies until the mid nineties, and it certainly wasn't the best place to be ... especially at night, or late on Sundays ..... it could be quite creepy and desolate at times, yet so vibrant at others ..... but one thing's for sure, its barely changed !
Ah Cheetham Hill! My ex is a Salford girl, She was brought up in Fuschia Court on Bury New Road, I spent a lot of time there in the late 70's, drank at the Broughton and the Lowe pub, Harry? Wong's Fish n chip was the best with a prawn curry to die for! We live in Australia now but the good memories come flooding back! ♥️
It was Frank Wongs chippy on Great Cheetham street ,born in 64 just up the road near St James church and Frank Wong is still alive as i bumped into him near his house on Leicester Road a while back .
Nice to have a little wander-around in a cosy Merc... I had worked briefly in Cheetham Hill in late 1960s, in the rag trade - a lot of Jewish enterprises there. I recall Alf Willets as a local vicar there, and his wife Phoebe (both deceased). I once visited a prisoner at Strangeways prison, and salvaged a few phones from a skip as the riot-damaged prison got rebuilt. (Citing components from Strangeways prison in my little projects added a certain cachet to them !). Be nice to see what the place looks like on an ordinary working day, not Sunday, and not night time.
I'll take a trip down there soon and give you an update. Its very busy during the day lots of traders and hard working people. Thanks for sharing your memories and for watching 👍
its the same as any industrial estate. When businesses close for the day, they have security much like any other business. You wouldnt leave a warehouse full of stock in a city area with no shutter down at night, unless an insurance scam was planned.
These are someone's daughters and makes you wonder what horrendous things they experienced in their childhood that led them down the road of failure to this? So so sad.
They’re making an absolute fortune… ask the question who is paying for them, how sad, old and crazy lonely must someone be to need to pay for it. What’s happened in their life so make them need to pay for it.
@@Pori9392 I grew up with a lad that's never had a girlfriend, he drives into the city every Friday night (Leeds) and visits a brothel, he has a different girl every time, no chatting up to do, wining & dining etc, no unexpected pregnancies, does the job then goes back home. He's around 60 now, somehow I think he got it right.
Mate there are plenty of girls doing this that had a better background than most! You seen how many escorts and “high class” hookers there are? Women LIVE for money mate, that’s why you see ugly ass blokes with fine assed women on their arm! Don’t fall for the whole women are the fairer sex bs dude!
Fook “they’re someone’s daughter” they are people. PERIOD! What relation they are to someone means nothing. You should feel the same way about a 70 year old homeless man.
@@Pori9392 you are disgusting, why don’t you ask what happened to these poor girls to sell it to sad people you ask about? THAT IS WHY DISENFRANCHISED, ABUSED WOMEN END UP ON THE STREET!!! Vile
Spent a few years buying around the cheetham hill area it's full of wholesalers or was back in the day it's not the best area but in over 10 yrs never saw a problem every city has its problem areas
You are dead right. I lived in an affluent area but if you walked around the corner and up a cut you were in low life area although only about 200 yds away
Well this is a strange video recommendation from youtube! From what I can see they need more taxi cabs in this area as that one women seems to have been waiting on that street corner all day to flag one down for a ride home.
I lived in Cheetham Hill for two years back in the early 1990's its rough back then. And after two years moved to Whalley Range Salford which was much better.
Used to ride down that way. Remember the shop that sold the things they've now made illegal... The jail seemed to suck the energy from the streets around it...eerily quiet...
Strangeways Nick Or to give it's Official name HMP Manchester Has been recommended for Closure, Not because of the Victorian designed Wheel shaped Wings (So the Staff can have a 180 view of what's going on all the time) But because the land which all the Prison on which is massiv) ( Is worth a absolute fortune. The Sites being looked at are around Bury Rochdale areas. Loads of Old and long demolished Factory sites around those areas.
In another life I used to walk these streets regularly day and night as an ex used to work on Derby Street and she didn’t like the area so I would walk down to meet her as she had been mistaken for a tom previously. I have to say the area hasn’t changed much.
I used to live in the Northern Quarter on Great Ancoats St. I used to walk down travis st just off Fairfield street on my way home and way to work, the amount of times i was asked “do you want any business?” I usually reply with “no thanks on my way to work”, “no thanks on my way home for my tea”. It was pretty sad!
When I was in Strangeways on I wing(detox wing back then) we used to get the working girls and the pissed up girls on the weekends shouting to us..we had sum good banter and it broke the fucking time up a bit 😂
To people that do not know this area, 95% of all businesses trading here only open on Sundays. The rest of the time they are just mail order stockists.
I used to work there in the late 60s - to the early 70s and I remember that a chemist on the corner at the time had the best sales of meths in the country cos all the down and outs in the area used to buy from them. On the other side of the coin there was also a Rolls Royce dealers there and I saw Elton John with Bernie Taupin dressed in their long fur coats visiting the said dealers.
I lived in Manchester over 10 years ago and walked all over the city day and night, including round this area. It's a hell of a shlt hole, seemingly dangerous too though I never had any issues even though I spent quite a lot of time in the most dangerous parts of Manchester at night. Strangeways casts an ominous presence over the whole area. The girls there are just terribly sad, I spoke with a few and they all were invariably feeding drug habits. They would do anything for a few quid. Crazy.
I used to do overnight couriering of parts delivery and collections to engineer's vehicles in and around Manchester (on of my areas) including a Plumbase in a fairly typical industrialised part. The saving grace of that one drop was that there was a coded automated security gate to give you at least some peace of mind. On the way out there's a set of traffic lights which were always red (why do traffic lights in Manchester hold you for so long even in the small hours?!) and more often than not there'd be a lady of the night touting at the end of an underpass tunnel. The drive off autolocking was ALWAYS active on my van 😂
Strange is nostalgia, I grew up in the mile house pub which has now gone sadly it was knocked down and they built a dairy there on north street across from a place called Wright and Dyson
No idea why this popped up in my feed. I searched for "hall telephone console table" and in the middle of vids for such tables was this suggestion !!! Recognised some of the streets - used to play snooker at Fat Harolds, probably back in the early 90s I'm guessing. Think it was on Derby Street. Strangeways Prison is a scary place. Been in the prison a few times - on work related business I'd like to add. The only part of the prison with some beauty is the old entrance (end of Carnarvon Street) and the old governors house on the other side, just inside the prison. Can view it using Google Maps in satellite view, 3D mode. You did well not to get pulled for kerb crawling 😉
I recently had a bathroom fitted (use that word loosely) by a Wickes plumber. He was Polish living in east Manchester and his wife was back in Poland. He told me he goes to this place often for 'business'. Was a little c**t, who was terrible at fitting bathrooms too.
@mikepxg6406 I live in and deliver all over the South East. I've, recently, seen 'working girls' in Dartford (3), Gravesend (4), Strood (lots), Rochester (3), Chatham (lots), Gillingham (2), Sittingbourne (2), Ashford (3), Canterbury (2), Margate (4) and Dover (lots). And these are just the ones I saw, when I made early hours deliveries in those towns. I remember the numbers, because they were the subject of discussions I had with staff at those deliveries. So what nice town do you live in? All towns have their seedier areas, so yours is possibly not quite as nice as you think.
I worked there in the 1990s I didn't see much of girls but one thing that struck me when I went to the local bank and there is a cash delivery the place was as tightly sewn up as Fort Knox. It was a very small branch but the couriers carrying the boxes only transferred one box in at a time radioing to security van when they were coming out to collect another one and they were clearly on edge. A colleague who lived in Moss Side a rough area on the other side of Manchester. She was ambivalent about the place and said; the Cheetham Hill mob is well organised and they only hit their opponents in Moss Side the gangs hit everybody.
They (the council) have now announced that this whole area is to be flattened and redeveloped, that includes maybe moving the prison too. Whether it actually happens or not is another question. Makes me sad watching this, as a father it makes me wonder about some of the horrendous things these women go through doing what they do.
"that includes moving the prison as well" I read what you posted in that 3rd paper the MEN and smiled, it just won't happen. Only now are they trying to get on the shops that have sold fake goods for as long as I remember and people actual believe they will build a new 1000+ inmate prison somewhere in the area ! Amazing what some will believe,,,,,,,,,,
Left Manchester in the 80's miss a nice pint of holts and pudding chips and peas in a tray with gravy, ho and a barm cake but thats all now. Been back a few times but its all fur coat and no knickers now. No pride
@@Zimaestro depends what your asking for. Some will want you to wear a condom but charge less,, if you ask for no condom most will accept and but up the price.
this is probably the roughest or at very least one of the roughest parts of Manchester. Plenty of really nice areas though especially in the south, south west and west
@@rick182z exactly , why would you think it's ok when you have a over funded center to try pretend to be cosmopolitan , it's a joke. Glossy center rotten core!!! oh ye channel 4 are there so best make center nice for the false image.
A couple of ex-mates years ago, decided to pay a street prostitute for oral without condoms. Took it in turns etc. A week or so later both of them were in the clap clinic having HIV tests, and long swabs stuck up there you know what, which apparently stung like hell. That was enough to tell me that it was something I should never do.
Yeah, it's a very bad idea. The vast majority of street prostitutes are riddled with STD's. Nearly all of them are crack/heroin/meth addicts with massive mental health issues. Most of them have no teeth or fucked up teeth and non-existent personal hygiene. My wife and her friends were driving through Deepdale in Preston after a night out 12 years ago and when they stopped at a red light, a prostitute tried to get into their car. This woman was off her face on drink and drugs, had no teeth and stank of cigs, drink, cheap perfume and really bad BO. She talked about performing oral sex on the 3 girls and 1 guy for a fiver each. Bargain. Lol. I knew a few people in the Lancashire Constabulary back in the day and most of the street prostitutes in Deepdale/Preston were known for sucking cock without protection for a tenner and having unprotected sex for 50 quid. It's probably no different 15 years later.
I work near and I'm also a Leeds fan Elland Road is Beeston, Beeston and Holbeck are the first area in the country were brasses won't get hassled by the police it's a safety area for the girls, when on I've been on Afternoons if ever going to fish shop McDonald's etc , I'd often pull up when a girl walks up ask her for directions or the time etc lol,
Time of day there's a video of the same area during business hours thanks for watching 👍ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-w-R3jlwNUiM.htmlsi=RSc1LgUMoKKW4loj
Depends where you are on Bury New Road. As you come out of the City Centre you will come through 'Cheetham' and then up to Higher Broughton, Salford where the old Rialto building was situated and I was brought up. You need to take a right onto 'Waterloo Road' off Bury New Road as you come out of the city centre to take you up to Cheetham Hill. I think all these streets on the video are between Waterloo Road and Cheetham Hill Road (another road taking you out of the centre). It was always a pretty desolate place going back to the 70s with all sorts of what seemed like shady small enterprises. Lot of the local lads as teenagers used to work on milk floats down there as there was a sizeable dairy factory.
I've driven around there quite a lot & I've never seen anyone around. Remarkable how close to the city centre you are and it's deserted. The only place in Manchester anyone asked if I wanted business was off Aytoun street next to the court.
Uk they live like cockroaches but harry winges his room is not big enough at Sandringham castle.he could have found the homegrown gals more convenient .
Get a real job and stay away from drugs it’s very simple. And if you can’t provide or have the means to provide for a child, don’t have any in the first place.
Mate women will do ANYTHING for money! It’s their lifeblood! you seen all the ugly assed rich blokes with a beautiful missus- it’s the same damn thing bro! 👍
Or maybe they just wanna make good money? Many of these ladies make more in a day than the average person makes in a week or even a month. People automatically assume a sex worker must be an addict or desperate. Nah they just wanna make big bucks. If I was a woman i'd be doing it.
This is really sad to see in this day an age. It should be legalised so these girls are safe and can be monitored so nothing bad happens too them. There is a part in Leeds that is a safe place and it legal for them to work the streets. God willing these girls will get out of the bad situation they have found them selfs in.
I was a taxi driver in cheetham in the 90s...apple cars...all the brass was on smedley then....every other job was taking them to score.....the gear ruined them all...
Been to cheetham hill so many times over the years, i've never liked it, always felt like 3rd world, all the money people have made down there, but no one is interested in doing it up. i think as town as been improving, it's pushed the street girls further away to the outer areas. sad way to live.
I think you'd need to look elsewhere for the type of reviews you may have in mind. I heard a Russian lady sometimes works this area. She's called Onyabackyabitch.
Yeaes ago my wife had a market stall and we often went there during the day to buy goods, it is very lively during the day, those scenes in this video paint a very different picture. Interestigly when we bought goods off a trader they charged you a 'Price' but the more times you went back to them the 'Price' dropped coz you were then becoming a regualr customer, I'm talking about the goods traders by the way lol not the girls.
