The answer is - she’s a multi millionaire. Her personal chef cooks for her. Do you really think she comes home after making “cinni-minis” on TV all day to make them at home? 😂
I love Cathy but Cathy and her kids have been at soccer practice for 25 years. There isn't one of her informercials that she hasn't been dragging those damn kids back and forth to soccer practice
I think it’s one of those _House on Haunted Hill_ sort of deals. You know, the kids are grown up and gone, but _they aren’t grown up and gone and she never even had kids..._
These contraptions will always confuse me because if you have the ability to cook in this thing, I guarantee that you also have the ability to cook in say, a pot.
These infomercials seem to almost always gloss over the big thing that makes cooking take so much time: prep. Nobody is actually "slaving over a hot stove" to cook (well not usually), they just don't wanna deal with chopping veggies, chopping and prepping meat and all that stuff after a hard day of work.
@@amibluefulWe don't have room for a microwave in our kitchen. But even if we did, I'd probably just use it for emergency defrosting or a quick jacket potato. The most useful kitchen appliance for me though is the slow cooker.
But what if you don’t have access to a stove or oven, like a college student living in a dorm room? This contraption would be PERFECT for them and others in similar situations. Also, it would be wonderful to use the oven setting on this machine during the summer time when my home is running hot (I don’t have air conditioning), instead of firing up and running my big gas oven, which makes the temperature in my home even hotter.
P.S. I just noticed that this contraption has an oven setting, so she can easily brown rolls if she wanted to. She made cinnamon rolls in it, ffs. That’s kinda cool - awesome for a college student in a dorm. I thought this was just going to be an early version of the Instant Pot pressure cooker, but there’s actually more to it (it has an extra capability). My Instant Pot sure af doesn’t have an oven setting! 😢
These informercials are fun to watch but Jesus, can they use even a pinch of seasoning every once in a while and properly? Also why does this lady love cola in her food so much
Yep... but it’s actually a bit cooler, because it has an oven setting, and my Instant Pot sure doesn’t! You can make cinnamon rolls in this dang thing, ffs. For that reason alone (it having an oven setting), the Chef-O-Matic would be preferred for a college student in a dorm (for example) over having an Instant Pot. I’m very curious to watch some reviews of this machine to see how well it performed by people who bought one. Obviously it didn’t catch on (I’m curious why not), and Instant Pot came along and took over the industry. I’d _LOVE_ it if my IP had an oven feature, just to have that option of using it instead of my giant kitchen oven during the summer, when the house is already hot as it is, so the last thing I want to do is cook with the gas oven to make my place even hotter. Not to mention the fact that you can tell this thing when to start cooking with it’s timer. P.S. Maybe it bombed because of the name alone lol. It’s just so bad! “Chef-O-Matic” 😂
There’s many more functions to it than simply being a rice cooker. I’m obsessed because it even has an oven setting! Like, wtf! You can make cinnamon rolls in this baby, ffs. My Instant Pot doesn’t have that ability!
I love these infomercials. The way they're acting like this obvious rice cooker is a whole kitchen solution because it comes with a few extra accessories.
You didn’t pay attention. This machine has a LOT more to it than a rice cooker. It has settings for stovetop frying, as well as an oven, slow cooker, steaming, and pressure cooker / rice cooker.
I think what some of y'all don't get is that some of us never learned how to cook anything other than maybe boiling pasta. And I'm one of them. And as an adult, it is so difficult finding recipes and resources that aren't overly complicated and based on the fact that you should have prior knowledge of cooking and nutrition. Especially as someone who doesn't eat meat, it's not easy finding stuff I can learn how to cook. Im not saying this particular appliance seems that helpful, but a lot of the things Cathy talks about - her dump dinners and other appliances- can actually be really helpful.
I liked when Cathy yelled at him because he was too slow dumping in the cherry pie filling. On another topic - she dumped in the meatballs first, then the pasta and sauce. So how did some of the meatballs get on top when she opened the lid?
Uhmmm, isn’t a crockpot literally a slow cooker??! Lol. Also “unpossible” isn’t a word. You meant “impossible.” What I’m shocked about is that it has an oven setting. She cooked cinnamon rolls in the damn thing! That’s awesome - I wish my Instant Pot had an oven setting! This unfortunately terribly named contraption would have been _PERFECT_ for a college student living in a dorm.

Hi everyone, I have one of this for more than a year now... i go to church every Sunday, normally I come back around 12:00 pm, I program it before going out and when i come back, the food is ready!! Very good...
It has a pressure cooker setting too, like an Instant Pot, right? I can’t get over the fact that it has an oven setting! I wish my Instant Pot had that capability! Although I’m wondering if Cathy had to put the cinnamon rolls on top of pecans because if she didn’t, the rolls would burn where they touched the pot? I’m glad to hear that this machine has served you well. Is the company/manufacture who made it still in business and offer customer support? Or are they no longer around? I’d love to hear a more detailed review of it from someone like yourself that owns one and has used it plenty (if you have a moment to share 😊). Like what turned out to be disappointing and didn’t work as advertised, if anything? Was anything surprising, or difficult to figure out? Has the non-stick pot coating started to chip off or get scratched up (that would suck if the manufactures were no longer around to be able to buy a replacement pot if it ever becomes necessary)? Etc, Etc. I’ve never heard of one of this machine until now, so I’m very curious about it. :)
P.S. One of the meals Kathy made here had me scratching my head. She had broccoli steaming in the white steamer tray, while pasta was cooking below it. I imagine it’s nearly impossible to get perfectly cooked broccoli (not under cooked or overcooked) when cooking it at the same time, in the same pot, as the main course, as they’d require different cooking times. You have to have come across that problem with your machine, right? Just curious. It seems like they are overpromising how “smart” the machine is. Modern machines today have split up compartments that cook things at different times/temps/etc when simultaneously making such different foods in them for a single meal.

Your machine is like 13 years old now, right? I believe this infomercial came out in 2011, if I’m not mistaken.

I would've bought one of these instead of my rice cooker. I love kitchen appliances! Kathy' s my fave! People don't realize that there's laziness in the kitchen. I met so many families that "hate" to cook and rather go to McDonalds drive-thru. If this or any other appliance she peddles promotes healthier meals. For people to sit down together and enjoy that meal! My opinion!
"My favorite part of the chef o matic is being able to throw everything in and being able to walk away? So you can't do the same thing in a slow cooker ??

So, none of the food in the video was made in the devices. You may have noticed she never actually turned them on or pushed start on camera. I noticed that the bottom of the cake she "made" is a different shape than the pot is supposedly came in. Then she took a supposedly molten cake and held it up to the camera in the palm of her hand.
I am shocked that I’m not seeing one comment about her claim that ketchup + cola = delicious barbeque sauce. Or that she’s using chunks of tenderloin for the “pulled pork.”
