Aw. Ebbers’ final meal is based on his and James’ special dinner together in Portland. And James’s is based on their Japanese meals & the birthday cake he cooked for Ben. That’s actually very moving, and shows how much love & respect all these guys have for each other.

All I keep thinking of is the episode of Shameless where Sheila makes schnitzel. They compare it to chicken parmesan, "only without the tomato sauce and cheese." And then "its breaded chicken. Chicken nuggets are just mini schnitzels. Its all the same s***." Its silly what sticks in your head huh.

The magic of Sorted isn't the food or the recipes or the skills. It's the genuine friendships that come through very clearly in the videos. There's a real sense that they are all having fun hanging out with their friends and, oh by the way, getting paid for it. I'm sad to see James leave but I actually feel worse for the rest of the team at Sorted because they're losing a friend not just a chef.

I've been watching Sorted since the era when James was called in only to open stubborn jars or made Scottish jokes. It's been such a pleasure to see him become a part of the central on-camera team. Thank you for all the humor and good cooking, we'll miss you loads James!

I have *not* been around that long and did not know about either the jars or the Scottish jokes... but in retrospect, I did notice one part in this episode where James was in the background and seemed to be mustering all of his strength to open a jar. It was probably just a fortuitous coincidence, but still perhaps a meaningful reference to his earliest appearances. :)

I’m turning 30 in a few days and I can still remember watching Sorted in my college dorm a decade ago. Y’all gave me the push to follow my dreams and go to culinary school and become a chef. I don't know which I'll miss more, James' tongue (deadly sharp witt) or James' tongue (deadly accurate ability to nail taste profiles). I do know that the chemistry that he brings to Sorted will be an absence I notice no matter how spectacularly it continues without him. We can also see that behind all the joking the Sorted family is seriously broken up by his leaving, regardless of promises of frequent visits. I'm honestly so happy for James. Sorted is like a nice comfortable place in the world for him, where he's done an amazing job on and off camera over the last decade and could do for another decade. But deciding to leave that, and challenge himself in order to grow, that's just incredible. I hope someday I accidentally stumble in his restaurant coz I'd be looking forward to that meal

Almost a decade in the same job for a chef is so extraordinary. All the chefs and people in gastronomy overall around me - and there are a lot with both my parents and literally all my other family being either chefs or anything else in this industry - switch every two or three seasons unless they have their own restaurant/hotel. For me it just shows what a great team it must to be at sorted to work at. All the best for James in his new challenge! Hope to see him back, soon though. Feels a little like he leaves the kids unattended 😅

I've been watching Sorted for many years at this point and I've loved watching James go from just an occasional cameo behind the camera to a frequent participant in videos, and I'm glad he's getting to pursue even more new things at his next position. I'm sad he's leaving, but it's gonna be amazing for him to periodically come back with all sorts of new knowledge and skills to show off.

I’d love to see a basic butchery/meat sorta badge. I know that different cuts in the UK have different names than here in the US (hell, even coast to coast in the US stuff goes by different names) and I’d love to see if the boys can identify basic cuts of meat off different animals.

I love how both dishes represented their cooking style perfectly. Ben cooking a risotto and being super science nerdy with all the components, James cooking something super fancy that is multiple things at once.

I want to thank the whole Sorted team, but especially James for the wonderful time we've had watching you over the years. A dear friend of mine passed away on May 2, and for the last couple years we had been watching every video together as they came out. Awww! I’m crying with this episode. I really don’t want to see James go, but I wish him well in his new career path. He certainly deserves to take all that amazing creativity to new levels. Ben, you’re an incredibly good chef; better than good, excellent. This loss is not a reflection on your abilities; it’s just a way to send off James with a lot of love and good wishes. @@GFM1980 i thought the exact thing! A female chef would be such a good addition and from some other episodes we definitely know they already have some amazing females in their team! Maybe one of them is also a chef behind the camera

@@GFM1980 To me Sorted is more of a team of lifelong friends doing what they love the most: cooking. James was brought into it for the backstage stuff and after 5-6 years working with them he became a pal and joined the onscreen team and thats why they gel so well together and the channel is so different from others. I dont think that they can find anyone and be such close friends with them to do such stupid stuffs for us just for entertainment.

Never thought I'd get so emotional over a cooking show, but damn. Been watching since early 2014 when I was a teenager, and I've learned so much from James over the years. Godspeed, Mr. Currie and I hope you find immense sucess in all your future endeavors

I feel the same about James leaving that I did about Steve Irwin passing. I love watching this channel and getting new idea recipes and I always felt James was a sort of Bob Ross with cooking. Calm natured and advisory and he was always my favorite. Sad to see ya go bud.

Definitely bittersweet watching this - but I’m so glad we can all send James off on a high note! I can feel Mike getting more sentimental at the end there though, I wish we can give all of you a big hug!

I was already having an emotional weekend before I watched this video, and now I'm crying. It's weird but I remember when James came onto the screen I'm pretty sure I thought 'this is odd, I don't know how I feel about this new dynamic' but now I crazy to imagine it without him. Pretty sure you're my spirit animal, James, with your sarcasm and dry humour, you really will be missed. All the bestest of lucks for the future from just another stranger on the internet

this may not be in the correct order but the results are this: First chef vs chef - Ben Chef vs chef pt 2 - James Fast food battle - James £20 market battle - Ben Ramen battle - Ben Curry battle - James Italian battle - James Japanese fusion battle - Ben Chocolate dessert battle - Ben Sandwich battle - Draw? *** 20 minute meal battle - Ben Grill battle - James 1914 cookbook battle - James Chinese food battle - Ben Ultimate fusion battle - James £10 mid-week cooking battle - Ben ***Barry and Mike couldn’t agree so left it up to a poll on RU-vid. Unfortunately, youtube have got rid of the poll feature and you can no longer view old polls so I don’t know what the ultimate result was. I have been told by someone on Reddit that James won the poll. So until now Ben has won 8 battles and James has won 7, possibly 8. Which means James may be the overall champion after this battle! However, so do kinda like the idea of them finishing today having won an equal number of battles with one draw - I’m a bit of a sap like that 😂
