I love how Ben and James are like "screw your curveball, we're professionals. We never sabotage another chef." Good lads 👍
@jeffwells641
@jeffwells641 5 лет назад
There's a neat sort of game theory element to it. I'm sure part of the reason James didn't sabotage Ben is because he knew Ben would have the same opportunity later - potentially at a more critical time in the process. Likewise, Ben knows they'll be doing more of these and it's easy enough to return the favor. I imagine if there were three chefs, and the possibility of piling on two on one you'd get actual sabotage going on there. This would also definitely happen if it were one chef vs two normies.

When I make Pani Puri ( in India) I use a dehydrated pastry/ pasta that comes in packets in supermarkets. You just have to fry it in hot oil and they puff up. If you want to save more time you even get packs of the fried and puffed puris/ pastry you just have to open the pack use them. But I do worry about the oil used to fry the ready Puri's.

Love and respect from India. You can never go 'wrong' with an Indian dish because there is no unanimous nationwide consensus on how something is made. I would never have made any of these dishes in exactly the same way as either Ben or James but a million other people could have. The traditions of the same dish vary from place to place. For example: for Pani Puri traditionally in my home state the water is super spicy and you would put in chaat masala and no tamarind. Tamarind is occasionally served as a side sauce of tamarind and jaggery. But Ben's riff is perfectly legitimate as well. Keep it up. Great stuff.

An an Indian, I'm proud of my bois. Ben shouldn't have put the flattened pani puri on top of the chana masala but it all good. Also, what James made is not necessarily naan bread, rather it is lacha paratha meaning it has many layers. My only advice to James would be to use a lil more oil when cooking the bread. The burnt aubergine is also a very popular dish and is called Baingan ka bharta(aubergine mush). James made it to perfection! Am really interested to see you guys do a lot more indian stuff. Also, the reason why Indians have a large number of vegetarians is because of religious reasons, not necessarily because they believe that it has more nutrition. Would love to tell you guys more about India. If you have any questions, please ask me!!

Huge fan of Sorted food, you guys smashed thid video, great dishes. Although Ben didnt win, I thought his foods were great. The chickpeas looked like they were made exactly like my mothers recipe and with pani puri as one of my favourite foods this was a decent job. Thank you for making this. Loved James dish too, I made a similar aubergine curry for an assessed school project years ago although mine flopped I think your recipe might make me try it again. Thank you so much for the good representation of indian food and vegetarian foods in general. You guys are the best!!!

Got to say that on rewatching I am incredibly impressed at the control demonstrated by both James and Ebbers not to destroy and sabotage in the curveball... will blink and ignore tripgate. True Sorted Sports this weekend!

Being an Indian,I was impressed by the dishes made (even though they weren't curries,but that being a good thing as Indian cuisine may be stereotyped as just being curry oriented) . Great job guys!

a shout out to the sound editor. you're under appreciated and don't get the credit you deserve. there are those of us that recognize your work and understand how much you bring to the table. these videos wouldn't be half as good without you. you're that hidden spice that makes a dish go from mmmm, to MMMMM. you might not be able to put your finger on it, but without it, you just know there's something not complete. i bow to you sir/madam.

I've been looking forward to seeing a battle like this for so long and you boys really put out everything you had. Full kudos to you. The only comment I have on the Pani Puri dish specifically, and this is honestly more of a personal choice. We actually use a very soft channa/chickpea and add in chopped onions separately. Also, the water used in the dish is often a bit spicy rather than fruity and we add a little bit of tamarind chutney at the end depending on the persons tolerance to spice. The paratha looked delicious btw. Definitely something I'd be happy to order in a restaurant.

I will say, I'm Indian, and I eat these dishes quite often, both chefs did an amazing job. I now crave both of these dishes. Amazing job! I was afraid that it would be unauthentic and just wrong, but you guys did an amazing job making it accurate. The only thing, Ben, is that there is actually one more sauce that is an aspect of Pani Puri, that adds a somewhat sweet-spicy kick. It brings it all together.

12:29 I was screaming at the screen "Noooooo!" you have to scrunch the parathas to release the layers and then eat them! But I have to say, other than the dubious choice of making pani puri in a curry battle, it still looked delicious and I am super impressed you guys ate the whole puri in one mouthful. I would've definitely judged you otherwise!

Hey, have you guys ever done any work with historical recipes? There's lots of cookbooks available, from the Victorians clear back to the Romans. I work mostly with the medieval cookbooks. I think it would be keen to do one video on Roman food, one on Medieval food, one on Renaissance food, maybe one on Georgian/Regency food, and one on Victorian food. And it might be fun to have one of the 'normals' cooking too! (Get in touch if you're interested further...)

Reasons that I love Sorted Food Videos... 1. There is no fourth wall, so i feel like these 5 boys are also my friends and the Sorted Kitchen is at the Back of My Best Friend's House. 2. James and Ebbers played nicely when coming to the 5min curve ball. 3. What is the Potato Skins Recipe? I want to know the spices you used and how long and what temp was the oven? 4. The Boys Always Say Cheers before they eat and that is just the coolest thing ever. 5. Ben Teaches while He cooks and that is Super Helpful. 6. Like Ben normally judges, i wouldn't beable to decide who wins todays Challenge. I'd love both!!! 7. The Dad joke of the week needed a bit of Healing cause it was Super Lame!
