Zaza Brown it’s actually better not to use gloves when handling paper documents, you’re actually more likely to damage it with gloves on as they make you clumsier, the gloves can catch and tear the paper, etc. (gloves are needed for holding photos and film). But folding it isn’t great as it puts stress on the old creases.
she folded it on the same lines as the way it was folded by her great grandfather - though yes I would expect it to be stored laying flat in archival folder to prevent any damage long term
I was so exited when I first looked at a picture of my Irish grandparents……then my cousins had a phot of my great grandparents and the family in 1910. I cried. I had not met any of my Irish family until 2015. My mother married my father in UK then came back to Australia then she died when I was 4. Amazing time.
I kinda wish they gave her the original photograph as it's her relative, it has more meaning to her than being archived away in a storage facility probably taken out every few years for cleaning. It's not like he was a famous sailor, he was just a mariner that did his job like thousands of other men, the photo rightfully should belong to Cheryl as she is a direct descendant.
angpetu meaning if the museum gave her the original photo then the photo will no be preserved or kept safe for generations to come. She was able to see because it is kept by the museum.
@@mentalhealthadvocate3753 but they archived it away so no one ever saw it..... yes it's probably preserved it till this day and age keeping it locked away but she is a direct descendant therefore it should be hers. C'mon, they are hardly the king and queen, they were working class folk and the photo isn't the museums, it belongs to the family.
She's not the only one descending from that couple. Other cousins she might not know about also have the right ro access that picture and other information about their ancestors, just as she did.
A thought occurred to me. All our ancestors dressed how Asian people still dress. Imagine if our culture had not changed we would have still been dressing how asian people dress. Our culture changed after the war
Yes ive thought about that too - they were very religous too - always went to church and scared of the minister - in many ways they are us many many years ago
“ruled an empire” funny way of saying colonised and killed their way through eVERYWHERE :/ & don’t forget that “transporting goods and PEOPLE around the world” line. sickening
