I have this. I've owned it for about 6 months now. So far, so good. It started a 1972 cutlass rocket 350 that was completely dead. Good video.

I have a Viking battery charger/maintainer (did a video on it). The first one didn't go into maintenance mode correctly. Took it back the next day and got a new one. No issues since. Had it over two years. It works well. I gave it 4 stars on the HF for a review due to the quality issue on the first one. Second was great though

I bought three of of there cheaper (less than $100) jump starters. First one lasted 3 years which was ok for a cheaper jump charger. Its replacement lasted 6 months. The next one lasted two months. I avoid them now.

Bought 3 of the "CEN-TECH Automatic Battery Float Charger" on sale a couple of years ago to put on 2 tractors and a zero turn mower. Put them on in the fall so I would be ready next Spring. Lights on the maintainer came on when I plugged them in, so I figured I was good to go. All 3 of them failed to maintain the charge in the batteries just lit the little green light all Winter. AND the 90 day warranty was over! 🥴👎

Just take a half hour once or twice a month to walk around and start everything and let it all run 15 min or so and circulate oil, fuel, and charge that battery!!!

We have the other version of this without the compressor at our auto repair shop. It jump starts cars and trucks every day in upstate ny cold weather. So far it’s done everything I ask of it. Even some diesel trucks!!

@The Den of Tools. Thanks Jeff for the quick review of that Viking 100 Jump Starter from Harbor Freight. The real key is how long that battery will last. I'm guessing it's a seal lead acid battery. I had a Sears Craftsman version that wasn't their cheapest and it stopped working just over a year after I bought it. I always kept it plugged in. Now I have a Clore JNC660 Jump-N-Carry like auto shops and tow operators carry. I've had it for over 8 years now and used it several times and use it even as a battery memory saver when swapping out car batteries. Keeping you, Red, Blue, and your families in my daily prayers. Shine on!

I too have several of the lead acid ones(kept one in each car). Would periodically bring in and recharge. All of them are dead now(even one that I replaced the battery in). Have the small lithium battery ones now and they’ve been working fine.

I’ve picked up the Viking 3400 12/24V model for work. Pretty impressed with it, powered up our 15K payload dump trailer with ease. Started our Ford diesel fine with enough oomph. The unit even warns you with an alarm when you’ve selected the wrong voltage for the application. Someone saw our fleet truck with two batteries and thought it was a 24V system. The alarm blared and started the diesel in .5 seconds. No damage fortunately to the jump pack or truck, but definitely something to keep in mind. I’ve also heard the batteries in these newer Viking units can be hit or miss. Easy fix by replacing the batteries with new ones. The back cover seems to remove easily without having to tear the entire unit apart. Haven’t had that issue yet, but happy to know it’s serviceable!

I bought the Viking 1700 jump pack without the air compressor. Has been good thus far,jumped three V-8's between charges. But forget the unit with the air compressor. It is heavy and no valid point for the compressor. If you get a flat on the road,that is most likely that there is a hole or gash in your tire,refilling it with air is moot point if trying to fill a tire with air that cant hold air.. Opt for the unit that does not have the air compressor option,less weight,and does what it should,supply energy to power a low voltage battery,jump start,provide lighting when needed,power to recharge your cell phone,etc,but not inflate a tire that lost air.

A friend got one for me. From NAPA. Carlyle 400. I have it in my truck and always plugged into cigarette lighter. I use it to run my phone. Have started my truck and a few other people's cars. Works great. The only fault I have with it if it low on change and you use generator or AC to charge. It's only a 2amp charger that comes with it. But it charges quick from cigarette lighter.

I also got this viking with tax $205 but because it has alot of good reviews hardly any negative reviews, even for durability even better than the overrated Noco brand. It's too heavy though but who cares as long as you have assurance knowing it'll work for most vehicles because it's larger wattage and psi.

@georgehofgren6123
@georgehofgren6123 2 года назад
You need to Immediately charge it upon unboxing. Then use and recharge a few times before forgetting about it... this establishes the plate chemistry and sets float voltage for a full, not partially discharged battery. AFTER THAT, you can keep it charged multiple ways: 1 house plug, you can leave it always plugged in (at least the largest one like mine can, VERY important feature). 2. You can get a small, cheap invertor and leave it plugged in in your car (just like in your house). Whenever you run your car it will be topped off. And 3. You can just run a cigarette lighter jumper from a lighter socket in your car to the socket on the front of the unit. This is the easiest method, and it will let your car's own float system keep it charged, But only if you use a 12plug in your car that Does Not stay energetized with the car off. If you use a 12v outlet that Does stay energetized w/car off, then if you leave the headlights on, etc, the car will drain your jumpack right along with the car battery. I have the Largest version HF sells, and the cheapest ($50). Both work absolutely fine. Even the cheap one works great, IF you do charge it Immediately and recharge it every month or so, or leave it plugged into the car. The only difference is the cheap one cannot stay plugged in on house current indefinitely (and it does take a While to charge, indoors... like a day). Also, besides the important initial charge, the cheap one especially needs to be left on the dead battery, connected for a few minutes, Before attempting to jump start. It won't work well just hooking up and immediately cranking like all the rest. Do what I have said, above, and even that cheap, $40-50 jump pack will work Just fine in your car. Get one for your gf or wife, charge it up, then get a cable with 12v plug @ both ends and put it in her car plugged into the car's socket that Doesn't stay on, and then just totally forget about it. A year, 2yrs, 3yrs later it will be all ready to jump her car if she leaves the lights on, or her car's battery begins to die.

@@ncrdisabled Might be something simple, as 2-strokes are fairly straightforward engines. Check for spark, if that’s good it’s probably the carb. Those little carbs go bad like it’s their job, but luckily you can get a new one off the internet for around 20 bucks. Might save you the cost of a new generator. 👍
