My husband never listens to me when I tell him exactly what is wrong with one of our vehicles he will take it to a mechanic and whatever they say he will pay and some times they don't even fix the original problem or create more. I don't know if it's his ego and he feels ignorant when I'm always right, and yes there is somethings I don't know but I don't just lead him in the wrong direction I would admit I no clue... but maybe he is just plain stubborn he don't even think I can change my own oil....so I fixed it and told him it was don't by an apprentice mechanic (didn't want to lie) but he is satisfied with the work!!! Mike I have a question for you my 2015 Chevy Cruze makes like a grindering noise when you press the brakes going down a hill but it has new pads new rotors took the wheel off checked it all over and I don't see no evidence of why it's like a grinding noise it's driving me nuts I thought maybe my pads are getting bad or my rotors but there's no physical evidence about being bad so can you help me out or what it could be could it possibly be the caliper sticking

Very helpful, I have a 2012 that just crossed 140k miles and have been blessed that I haven't had the problems a lot of others have commented about, so doing some preventative maintenance on mine and noticed the oil build up on the end of that line, where the new part now has the double o ring(mine is the old part), will be replacing this in the next few days. The new part was much beefier than the one I replaced, and has a heat sheath over it, I guess to protect from the heat shield RIGHT IN FRONT OF IT.😓 but no leaks since! I should clarify, I didn't have a leak, I did this as PM to prevent leaking. I've done a lot of work on mine, and am basically down to isolating a rather annoying P0171 code that trips. If I can figure that out, or get it fixed, this car runs like a top.

Had thought I was burning oil from spilling a little when I changed my oil filter not long ago during a change. Realized I continued smelling oil burning, caught my attention, noticed oil in that area. Your video was first to come up on my search for cruze oil leaks and there it is. Thanks.
Thx for the video never though about this I was also gonna change the valve cover gasket because of an oil leak then I checked your video out and looked in my car the part was also leaking oil lol that’s what I get for buying a used car but thanks a lot for this video, keep up the amazing job you are doing 👍

Thank you for this thorough video! I have a 2014 Cruze, bought used with 15K miles on it, have changed the oil every 3-5K miles (I know the bottle/recommendation says it can last up to 10K miles, but from everyone that I know that has done this, it has only causes issues with their cars... so I’ll stick with my routine) anyway, I now have 150K on it and have noticed this build up of oil right around the area you have demonstrated in the video. I will be taking off the heat shield and double checking to make sure that this is the correct problem before purchasing the part, although I am almost 100% confident that this is the exact issue my car is having. I really like the car and I can say that if you stay ahead of the recommended maintenance schedule, you have a decent vehicle that can last a while. The thing I love most about mine is the timing Chain which Will hopefully last the life of the vehicle. The only other issues/maintenance that I’ve had so far are - getting the battery replaced in 2017, new brake pads front and rear, new tires at 70K, and 130K, and a small fender bender. Other than that it is great for road tripping! I guess I can also mention that I have a manual 6 speed transmission which still works like new. :) again, thank you for your upload!

@@DIYwithMichaelBorders Hello again! So I went ahead and looked under the hood, and sure enough the Turbo Oil Feed Line was leaking where this video demonstrated it would. I was able to go to my local Chevy dealer and get the piece and repair it myself in one afternoon. This video helped tremendously and guiding me in doing the repair. My immediate observation, and I’m not sure if you can verify this with others, but my car would sort of stutter on acceleration prior to doing the fix, but it was barely perceivable, enough for the driver to notice. After I installed the new piece, I no longer experienced any sort of stutter or delay in acceleration. I did not think that this piece would have that big of an effect since I thought that it was just how the car normally accelerated, and I’m curious to know how oil to the turbo would affect my acceleration. Besides that curiosity, I can say you have gained a subscriber. Thank you for your great video.

@@davidseymour9934 Hey, I did the repair a year ago, more or less, and I have not had any issues with this piece thus far. It is still working great. I have had to change the Engine Valve Cover at 165K due to the PCV Valve failing, that took about 3 hours from the moment I opened my hood until the moment I closed it. That made the car run smooth, and all codes went away. Then at 170k I replaced the Water Pump since it was leaking, that took about 6 hours since I was doing it by myself and do not have any power tools, so everything was loosened by hand as well as tightened by hand (tedious, but it got the job done). Now the car continues to run like new, and all my repairs have been done in my driveway, so its still a win for me.
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders question for ya, left side of the engine from when you’re lookin the in the hood below the belt there’s some oil that’s leaked out would you say it’s valve cover seal? Cause I for sure need to replace it but I’m hoping that will stop the oil leaks thanks 👍🏽
@@DiamondNedFlanders Thanks for the reply & it’s very possible. Take a good look at the two solenoids on the left-hand side of your valve cover if you’re standing in front of the engine. See if you can see any signs of oil leaking from where the solenoid’s rest in place. Keep us posted.
Oreillys has it now! Just ordered one for my 2012 Cruze. Update : part number is Gates TL103 Had it on the car about two weeks now, so far so good. My car is a 2012 Cruze Eco 6spd manual. I’ve pepped it up a tiny bit, runs good though.
Any suggestions on removing the t-45 bolt that stripped out?? I have tried vice grips but no luck...next size t55 to hammer in, and I also tried hammering in a hex socket that was close to the t45.

Nice job in your explanation. one question thou, I noticed that the e 10 bolt on my car was lose so I tried to tighten it but it keeps turning without being tight, do you know what would be the cause.
Young Martins Thanks for watching. It’s sounds like it’s you have 1 of 2 things...broken bolt or stripped internal thread. Or it’s possible that the bolt is not properly aligned with the thread... not allowing it to grab a hold of the thread and feed in to tighten. Are you experiencing a leak? Hope the video helped. @@DIYwithMichaelBorders you welcome I have a question I will appreciate your reply I have cheve aveo 2010 their is tiny micro hole on joint ( transmission and transfer case) I dried it with cloth 10 times and check 10 times ( that's exact point) when I start the car it start leaking ( leak is very very like mini mini 💧 coming out) making way to the ground by passing over from transmission fluid pan as that's is at the bottom Can you reply with my best cheapest options Plus is it ok to drive 4 to 5miles

so this is why the oil filter adapter gaskets leak on this engine and cause leaking issues around all the seals on oil cooler itself. I was thinking about doing the gasket kit and replacing all gaskets or is it better to just replaced the whole oil cooler? I see these cars also have issues with the valve cover diaphragm and intake manifold check valve.

Could this be the cause why my cruze seems to be spraying oil? I opened the hood due to lots of smoke and noticed in that area almost a puddle of oil and oil sprayed all over the upper part of the engine. Thank you!
you can get that part at A auto parts store cheaper then the GM part the bolt was different it's a oil cooler line that goes on the tubro Eco LT is what I have. There is a part behind the exhaust manifold that goes boy what a pain to change it drips on the exhaust.
Thank you for the video I just purchased this vehicle for my daughter we were having problems with the turbo it has been replaced the car smells like rubber from time to time in the inside and now she's complaining of smoke from the back what do you all think it could be
I noticed my oil leaking from that location with big puddles. I thought it was the transmission fluid but its golden brown, so it's oil. I cleaned the area and noticed oil building up but couldn't tell where it was leaking out from. Now it makes sense, that's the exact spot where it's coming from. I'll replace this part as soon as I can.

Micheal, was this a visible leak that made you replace this part? I a 2011 and when the car gets hot we get a burning smell in the car. Especially when the heat is on. Also wondering if I have a leak in the heater core and that's what I smell.
is it okay if i delay the replacement for like another month. its already a month. will it affect the turbo? i dont see any oil on the ground as of now only oil smell and i can see oil in beneath the shield.
Thanks for watching, that will be personal preference. If it’s a slow leak, it’s best to get it fixed on your time as opposed to the leak getting worse and damaging your Turbo.

Charlie Coronado that is the coolant return line. It bolts to the underside of the turbo. To replace the actual part you have to pull the turbo. I fixed it by cutting the crimped metal sleeve and replaced just the rubber hose and used double hose clamps.

Charlie Coronado keep an eye on it. I had one hose clamp on the end closest to the turbo but then replaced it with 2 hose clamps because it still dripped
best place to get parts now is rock Auto or 1A auto parts my front rotors on my car are life time warranty. pads and rotors where less then 100 dollars for my Cruze

Good morning & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. Let’s get this figured. Best way to check for leaks is starting engine and allowing your engine to reach normal operating temperatures. As your engine warms up, your coolant system will begin to pressurize as designed. That added pressure can be used to your advantage as it will help pinpoint the leaking point or part. Be very careful not to let the HOT coolant touch you. Noticed the leak today so I went and got the part on my way home threw the p0266 code for the turbo. I replaced the part and cleared the code. Hasn't came back on. Loss of that oil pressure could definitely ruin your turbo if left unchecked.
Some say to replace this line every 50k miles. A common turbo failure results when this line becomes clogged. Supposedly, high heat cause oil to degrade and cause deposits, which restricts oil flow. The added heat shield is a vailant effort, but have my doubts on its usefulness.
Wow, my Cruze is a 2013 and it's just under 150,000 and it just started doing this. Although I've had to replace a lot of other things on it too. But my baby still runs.
Do you mind elaborating as much as possible on what you meant by saying save your turbo? I'm trying to diagnose if my turbo is good or bad. I just recently got a PVC valve malfunction that is covered by recall on my 2015 Chevy Cruze but idk about the turbo.

Computer generated trim selecter will automatically detect that the chevy cruze LS comes with the non turbo 1.8 meaning this part would not be needed or compatible with that engine. So unless you have had an engine swap to the 1.4 you should never need this part.
My Chevy Trax 2017 is burning so much oil I can't see where the leak is nor can the shop I wasted 1100 on they said get a new turbo and engine but my car runs fine except going up steep hills and blows a lot of smoke sometimes with a nasty smell of burnt oil how many more miles can I roll 😊

It’s possible that you need a new turbo however, it’s also possible that your internal valve seals are leaking and allowing oil to sneak into combustion area where it is then burnt off and exhausted out of your exhaust pipe. If you have the 1.4LT, your PCV valve might be going bad. There’s a repair kit on cruzekits.com, as well on some RU-vid videos on it. You can take your valve cover off and if you hear “whistling” or a sucking in air on the PCV. I’d also check to see if you have oil in with your coils. Could cause misfiring :)
I already regret buying this Cruze. A ton of problems and it only has 70k. Mostly leaks from poor engineering. Such good looking but garbage cars. I avoided GM for 22 years. My last GM cars were crap, too. This will be my last ever Chevrolet.
Be prepared to change the oil cooler that's behind the exhaust manifold what a pain in the butt it is to change it I change that and I had to change the oil coolant line that goes on top of the turbo for a 1.4 engine
how did u figure that was the spot it was leaking from? I've got a chevy cruze 2013 has a leak and everytime I'm driving I get a big smoke coming from under the hood. I see oil but can't figure where it's coming from
You didn’t spray anything on there ? Like wd40 anything .. I just got a Cruze 2013 and already had to change the turbo oil feed line witch is an easy fix btw but if you got smoke your either over heating somewere …or you got oil and stuff burning off your engine
Please help! Mine sprays oil right above that area but only after I drive it. I don’t see any dripping while it’s not running or idling. Could the part in this video be malfunctioning like this? I thought it might be coming from the oil cap but now I don’t know. Any thoughts?

DIY With Michael Borders No. While it’s running I can’t see a leak at all. I even had someone rev it up a few times and still can’t see anything. But after I drive it around a little bit and pop the hood it has sprayed oil onto the valve cover etc and the inside of the hood. It pools on top of the transmission some. I think I might replace that part in the video since it’s not very expensive and probably do an oil change and see if that helps. If anyone has another idea I’d sure appreciate it. DIY With Michael Borders After a weekend of pulling my hair out trying to figure out this leak my new oil cap that I’d ordered, just in case, came today. After installing it I drove it on the highway for about ten miles. So far no leaks. 🤷🏻♂️

If your oil pan is leaking, you will have oil drips on the floor underneath your engine on the side of your oil pan. You will also want to check your oil quantity inside your engine to ensure you’re not going low on oil. Hope this helps. Enjoy your night. 😎👍🔧🔩

It’s crazy I just replaced this you really could just put a new o ring on most the time for a dollar .. instead of buying a whole new part unless it totally messed up.. most time it the rubber o ring from the heat
I think I have a value cover gasket going smelling burnt oil coming into my vents when heat is on I have noticed very little oil leaking around the cover
Just pulled into the driveway & see smoke coming out. Oil dripping frequently from this front area. Checked the oil & it’s bone dry. No loss in power or running hot?! Any ideas on what it could be ?!
Pulled the heat shield today, put oil back in, & turned the engine on. Oil is coming out of the oil line from the turbo. It’s the connection on the right. I ordered another to replace it & should be in tomorrow. I’ll keep you updated!
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders it was the turbocharger oil line. The top O-Ring (right side) was completely dry rotted when I took it off. I proactively swapped this part Feb 2020 with the new version from Dorman before it leaked (got it off Amazon.) It lasted until Jan 2022. I could see a line of oil leading into my driveway. Lucky I wasn’t on the highway!

I have a 2015 Chevy Cruze Eco LT 1.4 tubro 120,000 miles put lots of parts into this car lucky have a family friend that's a mechanic that owns a shop charges 40 hour not sure what it is called but it's behind the exhaust manifold it was leaking on my exhaust I thought it was small little line I replaced but it was not

oil coolant line goes on the tubro Eco 1.4 engine is what I have easy to change I got my part at O'Reilly Auto parts store cheaper than a general motors
Gosh the cruze is such a nice lookin car but the engines are all lemons and chevy is totally aware of it but refuses to take responsibility and cover all the problems free of charge like they should. Instead they just stock up plenty of valve covers and intake manifolds to sell to owners.

GM changed the part # to 25200947. it only comes with one ring. Not 2, so I am going back to GM and buying another o ring that is part # 25198546. My local GM part store said this is how it should be 1 o ring but I do have space to add another so I plan to do so it look exactly like this part minis 1 ring .
