Thanks so much, Edith! The minimum number of pages for a paperback on KDP would be 24. And the fewer the number of pages, the more cost effective. I so hope this helps!

I do have a questions regarding Ebook front and back matter. Do we still include the "Dedication/Copyright" page? Does the Book Cover take the place of the "Title Page" in the case of an Ebook? I am assuming the back cover will not be used in this case, but I can use the bonus content in the back matter correct? Thank you again for all of the information you provide so freely and thoroughly. I can tell you LOVE to write and to help people!

And yes, we would still want to include our dedication and copyright page, and any of the bonus content we may have prepared for our books. As for the cover, we would simply upload that separately during the setup over on KDP. And it would be the front cover only, instead of an entire sleeve. I so hope this helps!

I'm so glad you've found this helpful! I would say the answer would depend on what type of font was used for the story. I prefer using a simple font for my front and back matter pages. So if I used a lets say chunky font for my story, I tend to choose a different/ simple one for my front and back matter. Eevi! You are awesome and I love your assuring the viewer to not be nervous. It helps! I used to prepare books for publication at a traditional publisher and I'm still nervous about mine. Anyway, what about the Library of Congress page. Is there a video about that and in order to upload to Amazon, do you need that in hand? Thanks so much!

I'm so happy to hear this helps, Laura. Authors oftentimes to the Library of Congress information on the same page as all the copyright information. And to set up your book over on Amazon, you will only need your ISBN, if you choose to use your own. I so hope this helps!

HI Eevie, I am new to book publishing and find your videos very helpful. Thank you. One problem I have encountered though, that is not addressed in any of your videos, is how to prevent the color of the back cover from bleeding into the color of the spine color. The spine color of my book almost always ends up narrower than the physical width of the spine itself. This causes the color of my back cover to wrap around into the spine. This results in a two-color spine along the entire length of the spine. Is there any way to avoid this with KDP.? Love your videos.

Hi Stephen! Thanks so much your kind words! Because the width of our spine depends on the exact number of pages within our book, it's really quite tricky to get a different spine color just right. So something I personally like doing with my own books whenever I want to use a different color for my spine is to have it intentionally extend onto the front and back cover. I went ahead and shared a link to one of my books with that design. If you scroll down to the "From the Publisher" section, you can see what it looks like (1) from the front AND (2) from the side. You're so welcome, Alex! We don't have to - have to. Board books for 0-2 year olds, for example, usually do not have a title page. However, most (if not all) traditionally published books have one. I so hope this answers your question.

I have a question about ISBNs. I did purchase the 10 ct pkg from Bowker. I have my manuscript written including the front matter and I have included my ISBN for the paperback version within the copyright info. My question is, should I also use one of my other ISBN numbers for the digital version?

Hi and thanks for your content. I have a book that consists of 30 pages/leaves. Laid out as 15 double page spreads. I would eventually like it to be a hard back with print on the spine. I read on your template generator page that you can get away with 38 pages for a a printed spine to be possible. Do the pasted down end papers, front and back matters actually count towards the final page count? If so, if I add enough front and back matter will that make up the extra pages enough to qualify for a hard cover with a printed spine?

Hi MrBetamax! Unfortunately, we can't add our own front/ end papers; meaning those will always be white. So those pages pasted directly on the interior side of our front and back cover do not count toward our page count. But all other pages do (e.g. copyright page, about the author page, etc.). I have a whole separate video on how to go about counting pages/ which pages should be counted. With a lower end page count of 38 does Ingram Spark offer the option of a print on demand hardcover that would allow for print/text down the spine as well? Or should I focus on a softcover? I’m not using my own name to publish books, should I create a website and social media for my pen name… and would I include just the website or could I include my pen name’s social media for the front/back matter?

Hi there, Hannah! How are you! If you're using a pen name, you'd probably want to use it for your author=specific social media accounts. And if you feel adding those in your book, then you can most certainly do that as well.
