A research lab claims to have discovered vulnerabilities in the US Navy's SPY-1D radar system. Using a hypersonic missile, two low-earth orbit satellites, and a radar frequency jamming system that confuses the SPY ship defenses, missiles could approach to within just 30 miles of a carrier battle group. At that point, electronic warfare assets on the satellites, and in the missile itself, overwhelm the US Navy radars and the missiles can adjust trajectory accordingly.
If these claims are true, they represent quantum jumps in China's Electronic Warfare capabilities, and also in ballistics. Experts concede that versions of the SPY have been deployed by the US Navy for so long--since the 1970's--that EW experts in other countries have had sufficient time to study them.
