Another one to play with your mind... something that looks savoury... but is in fact sweet! This was suggested to us by one of you guys and at first we didn't believe it... after testing though... we LOVE it!

My grandma in Bulgaria used to make this and I totally love it. Recently I rediscovered it through a chocolate-biscuit cake recipe (same ingredients as yours for the cream, except that the egg and butter are added to the chocolate, thus no worries re: raw egg). I also occasionally add a dash of rum, and orange peel. Mmmm!

This is so quick and easy to make! And tasty as anything. Instead of cookies, I used pretzel pieces and the sweet/salty combo was to die for. Also skipped the coconut and I didn't think the texture suffered for it. It was just nice and smooth and fudgy. This lasted less than a day in he fridge because everyone just wanted to eat it!

Not sure why, but I got the idea watching this video. I challenge Sorted to incorporate banana zest into a recipe. While banana peels aren't used often in western cooking, there are other cultures that cook banana peels or grate them to make zest. Also it's a great way to recycle.

I have made this dessert so many times right now and it's so good. Gald to see it get the recognition it deserves. Where I am from we call it biscuit salami and we usualy flavor the biscuits with a little bit of rum. And icing sugar isn't optional. Also it's very good with caramelised wallnuts and/or sweet orange .

Chocolate Salami is very famous here in Portugal! An essential treat loved by children and grown ups. One of my favorite deserts. I've made and/ or eaten chocolate salami more times than I can count ( and admit). Your take on this chocolate salami is so different from anything I've seen! I've never seen a chocolate salami with pistachios or coconut powder or one that actually looked like a meat salami! Or that you used the stove to melt the butter and to mix it with the cocoa! When I do it I just need the ingredients and my hands and maybe a spoon made out of wood ( very typical portuguese cooking tool)! It is so different from the chocolate salami that I'm used to! Here in Portugal there is a special kind of biscuit called " bolacha maria" which is essential in chocolate salami. You definitively SORTED chocolate salami. You just made it your own. Maybe one day I'll give your version a try :)

In Portugal we wrap the chocolate salami in aluminium paper and leave it. Just cut the slices and use the paper to hold the slice and don't put your fingers in the chocolate. :) It's so common you could probably find chocolate salami in every little cafe/restaurant/snack-bar in Portugal.

This is a bit like Lolly Cake (as we call it in NZ!) :) Crushed Arrowroot biscuits mixed with condensed milk, butter and chopped up Fruit Puff lollies, then moulded into the log shape, rolled in desiccated coconut and set in the fridge! Love no bake recipes and Lolly Cake is a NZ classic!

we ( Romanians) have a recipe for Chocolate salami too...except our main ingredient is the biscuit.. you get crumbled biscuits, some sugar, cocoa powder, melted butter, some warm milk and a little bit of rum extract for flavor and then you either form the whole thing as a salami or you shape them into little balls and throw them in a little bit of coconut shavings... it turns out pretty delicious and of course this is a basic recipe, but you can get creative and replace the coconut with walnut or put some almond or pistachio in the middle... so many options and lots of yummy stuff :D

Here in brazil we have a dessert that is very similar to this recipe, and i think that's even based on this chocolate salame. We call it "palha italiana" or "paglia italiana". I think that's because we have A LOT of italian immigrants here and our culture was very influenced by them. But the chocolate base of the brazilian recipe is made with condensed milk (yeah. The condensed milk. Again. We're obsessed with this thing), chocolate and butter. The other steps are essentially the same. :3

It is like in Lithuania called "Tinginys" . It translates in english "Lazyness" or something like that. At least like my mom does it, she uses no eggs, only condenced milk and cocoa powder and boil it, then add some crushed biscuites and mix it all together and wrap it in clear film in a shape of a salami(there is no other words to explain the shape) and put it in the fridge over night and DONE. Nom nom, Now i wanna have some :( thanks guys.
