Maybe these days because the internet is on it for every breath of rumors, but I don't think Sonic was showing up in print media for America until the weeks approaching the release of the first game. 😅

I would have been a baby back then, my earliest memories of Sonic was actually Sonic 2 because my uncle left the console unattended and toddler me poked at the controller and the explosion of rings sounds made me yell, lol. So I can't verify it, but I just remember things were different back then...

21:46 Part of me wonders if the writers are denying any connection between Mark and Chris for legal reasons. IMNAL, but I believe it's possible Mark is based on Chris more than anyone else, but by denying it in a public place like this, they reduce if not prevent any chance of someone suing them over slander/defamation (I'm in the UK and not sure which is applicable in a situation like this). Had they flat out said "Yes, Mark is based on Chris" I feel they'd open themselves up to a risk of a lawsuit.
One can only wonder if Chris feels conflicted about James Marsden these days, seeing as the actor appears in a movie he loves (Sonic 2020) and a film he irrationally hates (Marsden provided the voice for Hitch Trailblazer in My Little Pony: a New Generation).
Sega, particularly Sega of America, does have a tendency to reference specific fans, actually. This happened to me twice in reference to Mephiles the Dark ((he was an hyperfixation of mine for some time for no particular reason)) waaaay back when I was the most vocal fan of Sonic 06... The first time was when I was Comic Con and tried out the Sonic Generations demo, and asked the attending employees manning the booth about the possibility of the then-upcoming game having any references to Sonic 06, specifically Mephiles and if he had any connections to Time Eater. They laughed a bit, said that they're aware of Mephiles having a few fans ((at the time)) and that if I like Mephiles, I'd probably like what I'll see in the credits. A few months later, the game came out and Mephiles was included in the credits slideshow, and I remember this because my DMs were blowing up from my circle of the Fandom that was like "Rae, it's just like they said!!!" The other time was at another Comic Con, where I was chatting with the guys at the Archie comic booth for a meet-and-greet while browsing the comics on sale, I think it was Ian Flynn and some other guy, and I was asking if there was gonna be a Sonic 06 adaptation at the time, with me suggesting that they could make Mephiles one of anti-mobius characters to get around the continuity snarl, and I swear there was some dude behind me that started spouting off some Sonic SatAM purity stuff with the continuity, and I just shout: "DUDE, LIGHTEN UP!" Mephiles would later make a two panel cameo in the Scourge Jailbreak arc, commenting "Dude, that guy needs to lighten up." ((Mephiles' vernacular never includes "Dude")) I felt like it was a stretch, but my friends always felt like that was a tongue-in-cheek nod to that bit there.

Hey sonic unleashed was probably my favourite sonic game, high speed mixed it with some beat em up stuff, and the soundtrack is really nostalgic to me, used to play unleashed alot as a kid, and later on 360 when I got one.
9:20 Ah yes my favourite Archie Sonic character. Scrooge the Hedgehog. But seriously, love your content, man. One notable thing about Sonic that I wished you'd have mentioned. You know how Sonichu is just a lazy recolour of Sonic, but his Pikachu traits make him a little bit distinct? Chris Chan Sonichu is an even lazier recolour since he's literally the same colour as Sonic. Blue. If you slap Pikachu ears and a tail on Sonic - you get Chris Chan Sonichu.
I always thought of doing a thing where you have a picture of the Hall of Justice, which is labeled "What Chris believes his house is" and than a picture of AOSTH robotniks house with Chrises face plastered on the giant Robotnik statue, which says "What its really like." Cause despite "looking up at sonic" he never took any of Sonics characteristics or anything to heart. Hes more like Robotnik than Sonic, and I use the Adventures of version for obvious reasons.
