during the French language section he was talking about sleeping in space, how he gets into a sleeping bag, which is attached the the wall and how you don't need a pillow because there's no gravity to push your head down

So, I turned on closed captions, and during one of the French questions, it said "A full boil assaulted his ass" and I found it absolutely hilarious.

The way he talks to children is perfect. He doesn't treat them like they're naive, or like their curious questions are foolish, he answers them with respect and explains things and gives them a real chance to understand it. I appreciate this guy.

Every time I see anything with Commander Hadfield my respect for him increases and I am more proud to be Canadian. He is an amazing ambassador for Canada and what we as humans are capable of. My hat is off you sir! I can only imagine what the future holds for all the children that he is inspiring to great things.

I must say.... these Q and A sessions are a wicked idea! I had most of these questions myself and it is just an amazing thing to have a real Astronaut in space taking some of his time to explain this stuff to us.

Q: How do you sleep in space? Chris: I sleep well, thank you! It’s a bit different because without gravity, it’s not necessary to have a bed, so I only have a sleeping bag attached to the wall, and I don’t need a pillow because your head doesn’t fall down, I float. And therefore, for sleeping, I just use the sleeping bag, float next to the wall, attach a bit to the wall with Velcro, and relax and sleep, it’s very comfortable, I think it’s much more comfortable than on Earth with gravity

After seeing Chris in a few videos, as a non-english speaker now I know the meaning of "wholesome", as in charismatic, polite, and intelligent. This is the coolest video about cleaning your hands as well! Those water bubbles are just so satisfying. There's only one bad thing about this video... he didn't drop the mic. :D

Cmdr Chris is just remarkable. Not only he's extremely well educated but he's so down to earth and easy to speak to. He switches languages like it's nothing. I am very fascinated everytime I see some interview with him as he's so well spoken and even funny. Lots of kudos to this man for what he does. More men like this please. This always gives me hope in human kind.

For anyone wondering, Chris is answering these questions from inside the Japanese module. Behind him is an airlock that can only be used by cargo or experiments (not people). There is also an arm that can grab equipment or experiments from the airlock to place them on the ISS's "Back Porch" where they store experiments meant to test things out in vacuum.

What a wonderful human being

The explanation how the speed needs to match the earths curve was something new to me. Perfectly explained. Man, the science that went into space travel is mind-blowing.

It was French, and he's Canadian - English and French are the two main languages spoken in Canada, so it's likely that he had it in school at one point.

Q: What kind of food do astronauts eat? A: We have lots of types of food but not fresh. It's not like by you. We lack a refrigerator. No freezer here- for food. This is dry fruit. I can open it. It's peach. It's space food. It's not bad. This is walleye. From Russia. Like salmon. Similar to what's on Earth, with vegetables. So it's not delicious but it's pretty good. It's not Mom who makes the food. It's not like a restaurant. But it's good enough for astronaut's health and for me it's perfect.

On earth "hand me that tool" In Space "float me that tool"

Just remember, to intepret complex theory in a language that 6 grade understand is a very stressfull especially to replace the uncommon words. Astronauts truly is an amazing job

The realization that there is nothing between him and the sun but a thin piece glass is eye opening. To me. The pristine view from space of the sun is incredibly beautiful. Its like their is no room for superstition. It's just a benevolent body and has never heard the human interpretations of its existence reach through the earths atmosphere. It is only a lonely body in space that burns brightly, and from space it is so pristine and beautiful. To have the chance to see the Sun through the void of empty space would be a privilege to me like having the chance to see the great pyramids in person, but like 1000 times more majestic!

The first question in French is about sleeping in space. Chris answers that he sleeps in a sleeping bag tied up to the wall, and he just floats while sleeping. But it's not as much comfy as on Earth. The second French question is about what food astronauts eat in space. Chris answers that they mostly eat dry food, like dried fruits. He opens a bag of dried peaches and says that "it's not too bad". He later adds: "It's enough to stay healthy and for me it's perfect".

My question: Why hasn't anyone taken thousands of personal photos while in the ISS and uploaded them to a website when they returned? It would have been cool to see the best pics of the earth and the moon together. What could be better than that?

1st french question: how do you sleep in space? answer: i sleep very well, thank you. it's a bit different because in zero gravity you don't need a bed, so i only have a sleeping bag attached to the wall. i don't need a pillow, because my head doesn't fall down, i float. to sleep, i just use the sleeping bag, float next to the wall, attach myself with the velcro to the wall, relax, and sleep. its very comfortable, i think its much more comfortable than sleeping on earth with gravity. 2nd french question: what type of food do astronauts eat? answer: ah, food. we have lots of different types of food here, but it's not fresh, so it's not like the food you guys eat. it's dry food, and we don't have a refrigerator here for food on the space station. so, food looks like this (dried fruit). i can open it, just a moment...the microphone also floats...so these are pears, it's space food. so this, this is sudac (some Russian canned food), it's from Russia, it's like salmon. it resembles the ones on earth, with vegetables. so, it's not super tasty, but it's all right. it's not like when mom makes food, it's not like restaurant food, but it's healthy enough, and for the health of the astronauts and me it's perfect. sry if it's a bit confusing, there was some stuff that didn't directly translate
