I'm 72 and have never had my name on the titleold man of anything that was not a Chrysler product. I've been racing a 1965 Dodge Hemi Coronet for 54 years. I'm retired, my paersonal cars are a 2015 Chrysler 200, and a 2005 Dodge Durango Hemi with 200K miles on it. I loved since new. This beaks my heart to see Chrysler go away, and honestly I doubt any of the manufacturers are doing well, the cost of all of them is out of control. Frankly, I could not be remotely interested in an electric car or truck. I'm glad I'm an old man.

Sadly “Stellantis” is a Euro focused company which has zero respect or interest in the North American market. They want Jeep bc they think they can make that a global brand but the other FCA/Chrysler brands are going away. The vans are still made in Windsor and they will stay for now and they will fiddle around with Jeep. Ram trucks might be on a death watch. There are no other Stellantis brands that American buyers want. The new Euro management team is clueless and are there to downsize the American Chrysler business. Lee Iacocca must be turning in his grave😨

I appreciate the information and insight that RacerX has on this matter. As a decades long Mopar enthusiast I am saddened by it. Have to wait and see how it all plays out. I'm hoping the US economy can make a major recovery after the '24 elections, which should help the situation tremendously.

Okay. I'm a Detroit native. I grew up in the automotive industry. I can tell you firsthand what makes U.S. Automakers successful is not the profit and loss sheets, its making vehicles that are affordable, likeable, and fun, emphasis on likeable and fun. GM realized this that is why they are making the move to fun. Ford realized this and made the move to fun and fairly affordable. You mean to tell me, that FCA can't make a fun and affordable vehicle in the U.S. with American workers? All of our foreign competitors would strongly disagree with that notion. Look at Hyundai and Toyota. They are just as profitable, yet they have vehicles well within the budget of most Americans and most of those vehicles are built in the U.S. That should show you that we may need to change our view of how the UAW works with our companies to keep costs under control because the biggest difference with our foreign competitors have compared to FCA is they do not use unionized labor, yet their workers are well compensated and they make affordable, quality products. That's how Chrysler used to do it before the bean counters started running the show. Notice the years the FCA brands were doing great, Tim was running the show. When Carlos started putting his formula in the mix, everything got overly expensive, and sales plummeted. I say terminate Carlos and put Tim in his seat. I'll bet within three years he can turn this thing a full 180 degrees.

They will not pass that savings on to the consumer. You can forget about that. You don't raise your prices that much to pass it on.

Stellantis prices have gone up 50% since 2019. That is not inflation or supply chain issues, just greed. These cars that sold so well at 2019 prices are sitting on lots now due to their ridiculous stickers and high interest rates. Tavares wants to maintain a profit per vehicle target like he did 2021-2023 when supply was low and people bought because they were stuck. They also had government stimulus checks from COVID. How are those loans doing now? Until you accept reality and bring prices down, the company will struggle. He cut key R & D jobs earlier this year in North America. If he cuts more, just remember that low-cost engineers in Turkey and Morocco are low-cost for a reason. When you cut experienced talent like that, it shows you are desperate. Those people will find jobs and never come back.

Well if they're cost cutting, maybe cutting his bonus is the first cutting that should take place..EV's are NOT the future!

Dodge & Chrysler didn’t focus enough on a broader portfolio of vehicles. You can only sell so many Chargers and Durangos. They've lacked a high volume compact car for years and they've neglected the small crossover segment until the Hornet. Regarding Chrysler specifically, you have to wonder why that brand still exists. They could've branded the new minivan as a Dodge and why have they continued to sell the 300?

My stable is 100% Mopar. But I don't see myself buying anything from them in the future 😢

Im sorry but I can't be with you on the prices. 125k CAD no markups, for a widebody hellcat with a basic ass interior. Thats the price of a small house about a decade ago. You could go see BMW or Mercedes and get performance AND luxury for that price point. You will definitly have a better dealer experience too.

I think a big reason the cars aren't selling is because Chrysler Corp lacked the budget to update their platforms. The Durango, 300, challenger, and charger are (were) ancient platforms. No one wants to pay 2024 prices for a car last updated in 2014. Just my opinion.

For over 40 years now, a combination of taxes, fees, emissions/greenhouse laws, and labor costs here in America have caused many manufacturing jobs to be lost. Companies are trying to save money for themselves and lower costs for the buyers, so they end up building warehouses and plants in parts of the world that have lower labor costs vs the American Dollar, lower property taxes, lower fees for utilities, and fewer and lesser strict laws involving pollution and climate. That's also the case with customer service hotlines. We've become used to talking on the phone with somebody in India while going over an issue with a credit card account or needing assistance with our Ebay account.

I turned the video off when racerx Said maybe they can pass down a 20% decrease to the consumer. Racerx you know better than that. That profit will go to the shareholders and the higher ups in the company. The consumer will not see a price drop.

I believe Tim knew what was coming and directed his engineers to create the Demon 170 as a middle finger to Stalantis.

That was nice set of statistics. However, as the vehicle prices went up much faster than the cost of living how do the price increases compare to the amount of vehicles sold. I understand that he will reduce cost, but do not expect Carlos to pass much of that savings on to the American consumer. That extra profit will be passed on to his stockholders.

The big three never learned from the last bailout. They need more cheaper cars that flood the market with a decent build quantity.

@racerx I kind of disagree with you. 2020 2021 we had Covid. We had extremely high pricing and until recent months you couldn’t get a discount on any car all the cars were overpriced. A lot of the cars wouldn’t sell because the dealers wouldn’t do on the pricing. Remember, they had inventory problems you couldn’t get parts or cars. Lots were empty. The decrease in numbers is really an impact in dealing with the dealers and high prices with no inventory.

I brought a new 21 grand cherokee Srt Rhd down under before the V8 end. The factory 20x10 wheels are stamped taiwan. The spare tyre is inprinted made in russia ! I also have a 2018 trackhawk and just replaced touch screen. When I pulled screen off unit it had made in china labelled on back. I understand v8 engines are made in mexico. It would appear many components are already out sourced but assembled in US.

I’d seriously consider selling that Demon 170. There’s no way the company is going to continue to stay behind the previous gen vehicles

One of the key cost factors for Stellantis is the insane EPA emissions that forces auto makers to comply or buy carbon credits from battery car companies. Stellantis has had to pay hundreds of million of dollars each quarter to Tesla to buy carbon credits! This has a direct impact on the bottom line! And as such, where do you think they will make up the cost? They raised the prices across the board and is why you see $100,000.00 Jeep Wranglers. $85,000.00 1500 Ram pickup trucks! So all you folks out there crying about these insane prices - you can thank the Democrats for doing this green agenda on the entire auto industry!!!

If they kept the V8 and sold it where they didn’t rob there customers of a arm and a leg they would be selling a lot more and you wouldn’t be seeing your numbers in the red . and dodge and ram would be building more for the demand

Under Stellantis there won't be much of anything left in America. Those previous record profits were because they raised prices. I just don't see how anything they do benefits either the Dodge fans or the workers in America. It would be really surprising to see the numbers go back to where they used to be for sales.

Thanks for the great content RacerX. Stellantis is in a tough spot. The US government with their CAFE rules and fines make it very difficult if not impossible to continue to sell the cars we enjoy and want to buy. They have chosen to move to BEVs which now seems to be a poor performing market. Adding a desperately needed new model to the Dodge line up by rebadging an Alfa Romeo was a flop. So strategically they are doing the wrong things at the wrong time. Now they are recognizing their strategy is flawed and need to cut cost. I hope they survive, but they seem to be doing little if anything right. If the Charger doesn’t sell the Dodge brand is done.

I own a 5.7 Ram and a 392 Challenger, after seeing the price gouging at the Huntsville Dodge dealer I won't be going back! The Ram is a 2023 and the Challenger is a 2022.. "Last Call" was a rip off 😂😂..

The numbers they need to understand as an auto worker myself we are customers of the products we build. So the more you cut the more you cut the customer base. That's why you have to come along and offer the lease program. Doing gimmicks to make money instead of representing the customers... Am I working a short-term but it's not going to work in the long term. 💯

Will Stellantis kill Jeep? Why are FCA brands being bashed? Did they ever put out a good reliable product? I have a 2016 JKU Wrangler and it is my first and only American made vehicle. I like it for what it was designed for but the number of defects on this vehicle is more than ALL my past and current vehicles COMBINED! Who pathetic is that??!!! If Stellantis will get some proper engineering and productive workers, then that would be a good thing!

When I learned of the Daytona EV I was really looking forward to possibly getting one. The EV suits my needs perfectly as all i need it for is an around-town runabout that gets me to local stores and my local airport. In theory the EV should be way more reliable than the ICE vehicle because the powertrain subsystems are less complex and generate less heat. The powertrain systems in the ICE vehicle that aren't in the EV are the fuel system, evaporative emissions systems, engine oil system that requires 5000 mile oil changes, reciprocating engine components, engine block, valve train, induction system, exhaust system, exhaust emissions systems (catalyst), engine control computer, transmission, transmission control computer, mechanical electric charging system (alternator), and wiring harnesses that connect all these complex components together that must survive the heat in the engine bay and other environmental factors. Because only 1/3 of the available energy of a fuel is actually used to move an ICE-powered car, a full 2/3 of the remaining energy must be extracted in the form of heat in equal parts out the tailpipe and radiator, respectively, as waste heat. As engines get smaller and power goes up, all of this heat is concentrated into smaller volumes which means engine bay temperatures go up and bake out the components in the engine bay like the wiring harnesses, plastic engine components like the air induction systems, and the extreme heat in the exhaust system rusts even stainless steel parts on all the fasteners that bolt it together, meaning it's a bear to get them off when things need to be serviced. A lot of this goes away with the EV. Gone. Poof. Now the EV does have its own issues, like thermal control of the battery, heat rejection from the inverter and power electronics, but these are not as severe as the thermal issues of the ICE. So, in theory, they should be more reliable, however, because all of these things are new there is still room for improvement as knowledge is gained and things are made more reliable. it's just the nature of any new technology. You learn more as it gets into the field and customers discover things that the designers never planned on. Another thing I like about the EV that is not the same as the ICE is that there is one component that 'wears out' in the EV vs 2 in the ICE, namely, the battery pack in the EV 'wears out' over time. The electric motor, if designed right, should last 500k miles easily. In the ICE, there are two major expense considerations that weigh on the owner's mind as the car gets older: the engine and the transmission. When the car is 8 years old and either goes out, one thinks of junking the car and getting a new one. So (again, in theory) the EV should last a lot longer if one is willing to swap battery modules. The beauty of the EV in this arena is that there are no emissions controls on the battery pack, so any aftermarket battery pack can be added. In the ICE, tinkering with emissions-controlled systems raises the costs of those add-ons. So (again, in theory) there should be an aftermarket bonanza in the EV systems as there are NO emissions requirements that inhibit newer and better offerings. Now, the problem that you, TK, and OC Motivator have pointed out is that Stellantis fired all of their engineers and is outsourcing them to the far corners of the planet to be "cheap." Unfortunately the knowledge that was built into the brains of the engineers that were let go was also lost, so all these new engineers may have no clue how to put these disparate parts together. We're seeing delays in the Daytona EV because things aren't working out in field testing. And those won't get fixed if the guys working the problem are let go to save a few bucks. This, to me, means the knowledge may not exist to actually be able to DESIGN a new technology vehicle. Next, even if the new team COULD design it, do they have the engineering expertise to PROCURE the proper components such that they will survive the expected environments? Tevares may say, "use this transistor, it's cheaper" but the engineer that designed that circuit may say "That transistor isn't rated for the current and junction temperature to be reliable for 80,000 miles." Tevares or other upper management may only see the price of the part and not see how if they use the cheaper part it could cause the cars to fail on the road after 15,000 miles, causing a massive and expensive recall that would cost WAY more than if they had used the right part in the first place. Edit: once the vehicle is designed and the proper parts are procured, can they BUILD it such that every unit coming down the production line CONFORMS to the design such that it will work? Hint: The one Charger body that went down the line without the glue in the welds means to me that, no, the controls needed to ensure every car meets the design spec may not be in place on the production line, so I'd be VERY wary that the car I'd get won't break down at some point. So I don't trust Dodge at this point to make a reliable Daytona EV. They have to PROVE to me it's going to be reliable, especially with all the recalls that are happening that you, Butter, TK, and OC Motivator are talking about in current Dodge and Jeep products (Example: the wiring harness on the Hurricane-powered RAM is coming unplugged after short drives. I know what caused this: The computer aided Design (CAD) package told someone how long to make the harness from one connector to another, and the engineer trusted the CAD tool and built the wiring loom accordingly. Any smart person with any experience would add a half inch or so because the CAD tool can't calculate the exact wire lengths of every wire in the wire loom as a thick harness turns a corner. This is because every wire has a different bend radius around the corner. This results in the connector being a few millimeters too short. So even if they plug into the associated electronics box, the cable tension on the connector will pull it out after 10,000 miles. This is the same reason the Airbus A380 deliveries were delayed by 2 years because one CAD tool that made the cabin info-taiment harnesses made the harnesses about 3 to 5 mm too short and they couldn't plug into the electronics. It took 2 years to completely redesign every wire, every connector. So, with all the quality issues that Dodge has at the moment and with all the layoffs where the expert knowledge base is being let go, I will NOT consider buying a Daytona EV unless there is a 10 year warranty on the vehicle and drivetrain. Hyundai had to do this to get back into the good graces of the buying public after their disastrous quality problems when they launched int he US back in the '80's. But here's the thing, would Stallantis offer this kind of warranty? I won't buy a Stallantis product if it's not offered, but CEO Tevares may not want to provide it to make the investors happy. But then again, I'm not buying the car if it's not provided, so we are (as Wesley told Vizzini in "Princess Bride) "at an impasse." My 2 cents.

I work here at stellantis and the stuff you hear on the news is nowhere near how bad the problem really is. They just laid off 500 people permanently at one plant in detroit yesterday July 2 2024. He has stripped every company that he has worked for down to the bear bones than he goes and sells it off.

Stop right there - Dodge made really fun cars! Yes, their muscle cars were truly on to themselvs and there is a very small segment of the auto market that caters to this type of vehicles. Given the name of the game is to make money, if that small segment of specialty cars can't make the entire company profitable, the it will be reduced or eliminated completely! The Hurricane may make power, but I'll wait until the twin turbo gassers have a solid reliability reputation before I sign any checks. Bought a last call Challenger R/T to add to the collection. FCA needs more enthusiasts in product development to avoid wasted time and money on cars like the Hornet. Who exactly is the targeted customer base for that car?

Corporate Building for sale in In Next 2 years. I been Mopar guy my whole life I have never owned car that was not a Chrysler, even used vehicles were Chrysler product, my dad worked for Chrysler. I remember when that building was under construction in early 90's.very unique building with Pentagon symbol at top of building. Lee Iaccoca built that Corporate headquarters with profits from Minivans. What happens to Technology Center on property next to Corporate headquarters?. I have Friend that is Engineer at Chrysler.

As an avid Mopar fan, this all saddens me. Im 50 and my grandfather always had a ram truck to do the work we had to do. I know the hurricane is faster but they dont have the feel of an eight! I know this because I have tested a couple. I am just truly saddened.

Our Dodges and Jeep have been parked for over a month now. I worked for a tier 1 supplier in the early through mid 2000s until our jobs were outsourced to Mexico. Ford and Jeep wouldn't renew contracts unless manufacturing was outsourced.

I still have my Challenger 1320, but just traded both Jeeps in for a Chevy.

Their stock dropped like a rock this month. Im contemplating selling it for more ford. Dividends are very good, can't lie about that but they were nearly $30 per share. Dividends are 8.45%. We can also thank Bidenomics for the lack of car sales with inflation being so high today, I believe dealerships are also to blame because of sales during the pandemic. A lot of people are upside down on their vehicles and cannot trade them in.

No way Stellantis pulls this off with their current/future offerings in the U.S! Tavares is doing one last hail mary with a 1% chance to turn everything around. My guess he'll try to execute his plan until 2028 or 2029. Once he fails, then it's time to go out of business or possibly sell Dodge/Chrysler for cheap. He'll keep Jeep and RAM is my guess.

I knew something like this was going to happen when they hired someone from Peugeot to be the CEO. I believe In the original deal, the CEO was supposed to be an outside hire, so there would not be favoritism to the European brands.

After Chrysler abandoned US manufacturing of the Jeep Cherokee but kept the MX manufacturing of the Compass, I'm pretty much done with them. Belvidere closing hurt a lot of people.

Cadillac made a twin turbo v6 with 464 hp and 445 lbs. ft trq back in 2016-2019. The ATSV very solid fun to drive car with Recaro seats and a PDR. Dodge is going back to 8 year old technology and they still are blowing up.

I get the buisness aspet from being in corp so many years, but sad and glad we had this special moment in time to enjoy these vehicles. Maybe someday they will come back.

Get dodge, chrysler, jeep and ram out from under stellantis' umbrella or send them out to pasteur... If you want to cut spending, you could easily miss a paycheck or two as ceo or high up management and it would be more beneficial than laying off those that physically make your vehicles.

After watching the whole video, you're spot on target. Sending anything to China is bad based on the stranglehold they could put on companies if you go against their policies. As everyone knows, they link the government to corporations. They always have a long game agenda. It's unfortunate that the UAW, like a certain political party, doesn't understand that higher cost means less sales, and in the same token - corporate bonuses in the millions to employees making millions is crazy, and that money should've been spent on line workers and lowering vehicle costs. In the end, "the agenda" is winning, and consumers of all types (enthusiasts and non-fun people) all lose, but China and the agenda win. Glad I've got my Last Call car.

It’s doesn’t surprise me. Once I saw people promoting EV’s for Dodge and happy about inline 6 turbo. I knew the legacy ended. For Chrysler, Ram, Dodge, Jeep. I always thought the Hellcats, Scat Pack and Demons were overkill. Ford has never given up there 5.0 on Mustangs? Why couldn’t they have at least kept the 5.7 V8 Hemi, it’s a workhorse.

The sales numbers lowered so they decided to massively price hike the units that they did sell to cover the lost percentages. Now they are stuck with all these 2023 models but people are unable to get the financing for some of them as the financing companies are not willing to finance the entire amount anymore as they are 2023 models.

The old dodge, Chrysler, jeep and ram group, especially with the works laid off and production moved overseas is no longer a USA company. I hope they are hit with massive import tariffs now. I bought a jeep liberty in 2008. I paid $22,000. For it. Ran it 140,000 miles with no problems before trading it off. With the prices and lack of quality, no way I would buy a new one. I will walk before I buy an electric car.

I guess when i want a replacement for my 2023 RAM 1500 i will be buying a Nissan Titan.

Regarding Jeeps, you know the Wrangler is really getting expensive, i mean its not that difficult to spend 60 grand on one and unless you have a substantial downpayment of at least 30 grand the payments will be like a mortgage, plenty can't afford that and a Wrangler is really a 2nd vehicle or a offroad toy though plenty use them for their only vehicle. Still, if you just want one to cruise around in warm snow free States a car less than half the price makes financial sense especially to those who really cant afford a Wrangler but will somehow get approved to buy 1.

I agree with you pretty much. I just think that he is the one that screwed the company up to where they’re losing money at Dodge! If they wouldn’t have raised the damn price so much they would have sold more units and the company would’ve made more money to give to their shareholders! Raise the price of less units and give it back to the shareholders. But I think you would’ve made way more money to keep the price down and sell more bulk!
