I just realized the Champions of Thunaroz were a group of warrior worshippers of the Thunraz, the Proto-Germanic god of Thunder which one might recognize as the Norse god Thor.

The pantheons they worshipped were quite similar which is to be expected due to close proximity (relatively) and coming from similar groups of peoples prior to their migration and split.

I did get very lucky in this battle with his deployment to be fair. That and he smashed me in the first battle lol :P

2 very good factions. The Cimbri are very scary. I use them quite often, their 200 strong Elite Skirms are insanely strong. Full on Melee beasts with full Javs.

My Broz! Definitely my favorite of the barbarian factions. That down hill light cav ambush on his horse archers was beautiful haha Happy to see you redeem yourself on this one

haha cheers mate, to be honest it looked a lot more planned out than what it actually was :P I kept them up there "just in case" and in this instance I got very lucky with it. He played really well!

Army position definitely didn't help him, but I think his choice of mostly horser archer cavalry is what did him in. Media does a lot better with their heavy melee cav, not horse archers or jav cav. Especially when they're caught out of position like they were.

Text book Germanic approach you ended it nice and quick almost like an ancient world Blitzkriege (how German of you :P). Might give the German factions ago again haven't played them in a very long time, mostly just had trouble using them properly which is why I usually stuck with Gallic factions when it came to babarians. I could see what your opponent was trying to do though, and had his CAV gotten into your back line this battle could have been very different very text book Eastern. Some other fun Germanic tribes to have in DEI or hopefully ROME-3 would be: The Teutons: Allies of the Cimbri whose intial encounter with Rome lead to the Marrian reforms. The Cherusci: The Tribe of Armenius enough said ;) . The Suebi and Marcamoni: Both already in the game and both have quite the story and impact on Rome. And finally The Goths: This one if handled correctly would be very fun there is a Video on youtube called the History of the Early Goths I think by the channel Invictus? It covers their potiential origins (Scandinavia) and how they were able to grow and become so powerful. Also would go well with the Romans stating the differences between West Germanic tribes and East Germanic tribes which explains why during the crisis of the 3rd Century the Romans didn't call them the Goths they mistook them for Scythians.

Your right about his cav, I got lucky in pinning it down to be honest. But I also had SO much infantry, it'd take a long time for them to have a serious effect. I swear the Cherusci are in game but aren't playable, don't quote me on that though... The Teutons I wouldn't know.. I actually think the Germans are way more powerful than the Gauls. You just gotta use the ambush style of fighting combined with their special units. They have great axemen and swords that can seriously chomp through enemy lines. There is even pikemen you can use against factions like Rome that would get stomped by pikes.

@@Immersaholic True the use of gorilla deployment and your numbers still would have most likely lead to your victory, the Cav not being pinned down the way they were though would have at least given you some trouble, any kind of heavy Cav like that left unchecked can be a nightmare. And yeah the Cherusci are in game just not playable which is a shame considering the effect that Tribe had on Rome (destroying three legions), maybe could have some uniqueness to them in the late game due to Arminius being raised in the Legions and that after the ambush at Teutoburg the Cherusci looted weapons, armour, and equipment from the dead Romans. Yeah my problem I had with the Germans was not playing them properly, and I last played them in Vanilla Rome-2 in the Imperator Augustise campaign XD .

I don’t think his army was too bad, those spears are fantastic. It’s just I brought the perfect counter to armored spears - armor penetrating axemen and swords
