great tuto, this channel is a must, I switched from blender to C4D because of you:)! My only "problem" is that I only get body sculpt and v ray...:( I added texture, fresnel, specular, GI... I didn't find something like the "PET" preset, and this visibility in the reflection of the object... Any advices for vray to get this?? thanks in advance man!

How did you texture the background? Like how did you achieve that gradient as it goes further

It's a plane with a bend deformer on it, it's just a material much like the pink one but with way less reflection strength on it. Most of the gradation is due to the lighting!

Did you make that donut in C4D? I'm a Maya user and since I want to work with mograph I'm trying C4D, but I find its modelling tools a bit weird. Is importing models from Maya a common workflow or should I just get over it and pratice more?

I did, it was fairly easy to model. C4D's modeling tools are not known to be the best, but it's easy to pick up! I don't believe Maya models can be imported directly, you'd need to export as either an OBJ or FBX for it to open inside of C4D

im a vfx artist moving into more of a design and mograph workflow.. at the moment im modelling in maya and mudbox and just importing into c4d as obj, sometimes sizes and pivots get a bit messed up, but as im not working on scale, its not too much of a problem

This tutorial... IT'S AMAZING! This information is so valuable! Super descriptive instructions, so easy to follow, INCREDIBLE tips and tricks, I´ve never found such good tutorial about textures and lightning in the cinema 4d native render motor. I´ve paid for online cinema courses and had NEVER learn this much! So glad I found this, I learned soooo much from this video! Great! great! great! tutorial! Keep on the good work!

Regarding the donut model itself, is the pink icing a separate object mapped on and how is this done? I am currently learning C4D and now diving into modeling but this is my stumbling block. Love your channel and your work!!

Thanks Samuel! The icing is a separate piece of geometry, I do plan on doing a live stream in the coming weeks to break down how I modeled the donut so stay tuned!

This BKG was a cyc, basically a plane with a bend deformer gets you this look!

Hey man, excellent descriptive tutorial. I just want some help with modelling the hands in such cartoonish style. The ones I tried didn't have this smoothness. I am a beginner in C4D so probably facing a bit of trouble modelling in C4D after working on Maya.

Easy! This is just a plane object with a bend deformer on it to create an L-shaped cyc!

I'm noob too, but as far as I know, go to Right Click Floor - CINEMA 4D Tags - Compositing, and check 'Compositing Background' (Directory will be different if you are using R21) and add Sky too, set these two with same material. This way you can set your object to have shadow on floor and also infinite background.
