I'm not even a fan of wrestling, and this movie's depiction of fans insults me. Good job as usual Sean.

This movie is one of many reasons why WCW died in 2001. For those of you who wonder why, Let's see... I don't know if I can sum up everything in this one comment. So, I'm going to list them... 1. Vince Russo 2. Piss poor booking and bad decisions 3. Creative Control 4. David Arquette/Vince Russo as World Heavyweight Champion 5. The constant title changes with the WCW World Heavyweight belt 6. The nWo still around despite the idea getting redundant 7. Lack of creating new stars 8. Fingerpoke of Doom 9. The Millionares Club VS New Blood feud 10. Firing Steve Austin for being "unmarketable" 11. Sid FUCKING Vicious (fuck that guy he sucks) 12. Misusing Bret Hart 13. Goldberg turning heel at Great American Bash 2000 14. Adding too many worthless recruits for the nWo 15. Creating other nWo-ish stables (Wolfpac, Lwo, B-Team and nWo 2000) 16. Holding back the cruiser-weight division 17. Old timers and legends hogging the main event spotlights 18. Ripping off WWF's storylines and gimmicks 19. Ultimate Warrior's return 20. The Warrior feud with Hollywood Hogan 21. THAT GODDAMN WRESTLEMANIA REMATCH AT HALLOWEEN HAVOC 22. Shitty wrestling shows like Thunder, Worldwide and Saturday Night 23. Too many face and heel turns and fucking swerves for the sake of a swerve 24. Stupid fucking gimmick matches like "Judy Bagwell on a forklift" match 25. Storylines that make no sense what so ever 26. Oh my god the mentioning of ratings and breaking the 4th wall 27. Why was Chucky on a segment with Rick Steiner on Nitro? 28. Why did Robocop appear to save Sting's ass on Capital Combat? 29. Why the fuck did Will Sasso screwed Bret Hart? 30. What the fuck was Hulk Hogan thinking of putting over BILLY FUCKING KIDMAN?!? 31. FUCK THIS COMPANY 32. WCW 33. FUCKING 34. SUCKED

"Wrestling's not FAAAAKE!!" That cracks me up every time

"...it ain't ballet." Wait what? Ballet is fucking EXCRUCIATING! It's nearly body torture for your toes - and the amount of training you have to undergo is pretty extreme. It's just as "not fake" as wrestling, according to your rationale.

Actually, Sean, ballet can be punishing too. I know a girl from Performing Arts college who was a dancer and she severely tore a muscle in her leg during a ballet performance and it wasn't even a complex move that did it. I get what you're saying about wrestling, but ballet can result in people getting hurt too and I don't even practice it.

Ballet is excruciating. It is physically demanding as you have to be moving, holding a specific graceful pose all through out. Well okay its not as physically dangerous like getting thrown and pummeled about but its unfair to imply it is easy and injury free.

i will never forget an italian movie called Game Therapy, which said "it's a movie for videogame enthusiast", where the moral was "videogames are for losers, go get a woman"

The rap that Jimmy King did was (at least partially if not entirely) from the Run-DMC track, "King of Rock". Really!

You know, I actually have a lot to thank this review for...believe it or not. I wasn't a wrestling fan a year ago but this review, as well as Sean's following video explaining the fall of WCW, got me interested in the Monday Night War. I have a weird fascination with businesses crashing and burning. Through that, I started watching wrestling-related channels on RU-vid like Cultaholic and eventually watching wrestling properly. And now here I am, having met Mark Andrews last weekend and with a ticket to NXT UK Takeover Cardiff. And more importantly, it introduced me to some wonderful new friends. So...Sean, even though you're almost definitely never gonna see this? Thank you.

This is the Freddy Got Fingered of wrestling. It's taken over-the-top in the most exaggerated way possible, whether it's used for laughs or shock humor.

Thanks for bringing to light that wrestling injuries are real. I trained as a pro wrestler and had to stop because of numerous concussions. A doctor told me i have to stop because i can become a vegetable at 33 if i continued. That was 2011 and today im 33 and not a vegetable and im told now 1 more blow to the brain can result in death.

My step dad likes to watch that 'wrestling', I always thought of it as a Soap Opera for men, the same way my aunt watched Days of Our Lives.

I was a kid who was sorta a wrestling fan when this movie was released. If I recall correctly I was really ticked off with some bad decisions the WCW made but still sorta liked them. Even back then I knew that this film had some very bad choices behind it all around. From a strictly business perspective, I'd probably say that the fictional hero wrestler and a REAL wrestler as a villain is an insanely backwards decision all things considered. At least that's what I said back then.... still believe I was in Elementary school.

Your reviews are great but let me point out something about ballet. People have this idea ballet is gentle. You could not be more wrong. My mom was a ballet dancer and they are in constant excruciating pain. Not only are they starved to death, but most ballet moves go against how the human body should move. Dancers' bodies become deformed in no time. Hell, Mila Kunis said she almost died just playing one in Black Swan. Most of all, ballet dancer's feet suffer the worse. My mom could never go on her toes, it was too painful. Those that do come back stage often crying in torment with their feet bleeding. It looks glamourous, but it's far from.

Ballet requires just as much physical training as any other sport Sean. I would know, my sister is a dancer and has gotten a ton of injuries from dance practice.

One more fun fact, the ZIP Code where Jimmy King apparently lives just happens to be the ZIP Code in which I live. That street and house address do not exist, they exist in Florida, but not Atlanta. That means they made up a house number and street name for no reason

Just to let you know, Sean, Jimmy King was also based on Ric Flair, such as being the old star who butted heads with the boss, and being betrayed by his turncoat son.

Well Perry Saturn did a shoot on a wrestler once... then it resulted him having sex with a mop. For the Porta Potties, sometimes there is no restrooms backstage... The Miz found out this fact the hard way.

Actually, I enjoy your pointless wrestling facts, even though I couldn't care less for wrestling. I just like when people talk about things they are passionate about and know a lot about. :) PS. Shit sucking is an honest job. Not best one, but someone has to do this, let's just respect other people hard work.

Well from a wrestling story line the title shot does make sense. Follow me on this. Guy loses his title badly in a match. Even though he is a crowd favorite he looks bad so they don't plan to give him a rematch. However, he suddenly comes back and in an impromptu match he beats the guy that took the title from him with that match being shown to the crowd as we see on the titantron or whatever WCW called their big TVs. Now the audience sees that the first guy CAN win and they will back him because even though that match was non sanctioned, a rematch with the title on the line would (in theory) be a great match. And in creating that match the booker would know that this rematch would garner a lot of attention and Pay Per View buys. So from the perspective of the corporate guy, they stood to make a lot more money from the rematch after the guy wins, than before.

i just got one question for this one: WHO BETTA THAN KANYON?

When I was a kid I liked pro wrestling and this movie. I'm not saying I would like it now but this was 90s comedy for teenage boys. Nobody I knew seemed to notice or care. Remember this was the era of Tom Green and Celebrity DeathMatch.

Brian Robbins did co-create All That, so that's ONE good thing.... But he is currently President and CEO of Nickelodeon. :(

At least Scott Caan bounced back and has now made a name for himself on Hawaii Five-0 I suppose. As for David Arquette?! Yes, his WCW run was pathetic. Looking forward to Part 2... and I have to say, good spotting of John Cena there too.

I'm not even close to being a wrestling fan and yet somehow I know more about wrestling than this supposed wrestling movie.

this is free-to-watch on youtube now and the comments are full of people saying this is one of the greatest wrestling movies ever made. I guess some wrestling fans *do* like being insulted.

Actually that three tier tower cage gimmick was first used by World Class Championship Wrestling a small regional promotion in Texas that had world recognition during syndication's heyday back in the 1980s, the promotion was run by Von Erichs, I'm sure you heard of them. To my knowledge WCCW used it a few times and they made it sound like it was a hit with fans. NWA Jim Crocket Promotions later borrowed that gimmick sometime after World Class folded.

Fun fact: Rey Mysterio spent most of the year this movie came out out of action due to doing take after take of a Frankensteiner for this movie. Guess that’s reason number five thousand and one to despise this movie’s guts.

Sean, go take a look at gene kelly. Dude was a dancer and the man was crazy muscular and strong. He had that build because dancing is incredibly physically demanding. He was also a renaissance man. Something I doubt he shares with any wrestlers.

5:45 Gonna have to stop ya right there, Sean. Ballet is about as brutal on your body as even wrestling is. There may be not as high an incidence o broken bones or concussions, but they _do_ happen, and it takes a massive toll on your body overall. Myself and many former dancers have constant knee pain, back pain, dislocated shoulders, patellas, and hips, spinal damage, torn ligaments that never quite healed, broken toes, even renal failure from decades of eating disorders due to industry pressure to stay rail-thin for performances. Most ballet dancers don't last long enough to retire, we are forced to quit because our bodies simply can't handle it anymore.

He's rapping, because King of rock is a rap song by Run DMC (well, rap/rock). It's rather well-known and a quick google search would have confirmed that. (That is no slight on you, but it is quite well known).

It's like a mix of the Tower of Doom in reverse and Tables, Ladders, and Chairs...

The scene with the nuns is actually pretty funny on non-english dubs, after all they translated the song so it sounds like they are singing about the devil at random instead of a Van Halen song. I always laugh at that scene in portuguese.

Went ahead to see what else about this turd you were gonna describe in part 2 and was pleasantly surprised to find the WWE had it taken down. Don't get me wrong, you do a great job with these. However by the end of this one, where you started talking about the old lady fan and the nuns; I thought to myself "yep, not terribly surprising they'd pad the time with stupid and obvious 'jokes', how many more do we really want hear?" Unless there was some awesome point you ended up making at the end, letting it stay gone seems like the best approach.

Watching DDP fall to the ring like Mankind in hell in a cell made me cringe. In that actual match they were half convinced Foley was dead. That wasn’t something to just rip off and play for… laughs?

Wrestling = Even when you know what you are doing you are STILL going to get hurt. Nothing "fake" about that.

Wrestling is just like any other tv program. Its scripted not fake. Things are preplanned but they still have to be athletic enough to do those plans.

The most I would give wrestling (aside from the Olympic format) is that it’s choreographed. That’s it. Is it fake? The results are. Is it real? Well, human beings are performing it, people get seriously hurt doing some of the stunts, and it takes place in reality. Nothing more than that.
