This movie came out when I was 14 or 15 and really struck a chord with me.....HBO, Showtime, and other networks didn’t invest money into major series the way they do today, in fact, Tales from the Crypt is one of the only series that I personally remember HBO airing at the time. Because of this, there were more documentaries and made-for-TV movies. Citizen X is the best example of the latter. The acting of Rea, Sutherland, Syndow, Ackland, and DeMunn was spot on, each contributing to the eeriness and drama of the movie. The music and cinematography was brilliant, similar to Silence of the Lambs. There is a darkness and an uneasiness from start to end, which I love in a movie like this, something which is probably difficult for a writer/director to achieve. It isn’t gory, despite the constant killings and overall theme, which is something else I appreciate in a movie like this. I’ve watched it over a dozen times, especially since HBO had it airing a lot when it was released. 👍👍

Very good review of a fantastic film. I loved this movie. I think the actors did an amazing job despite the awkward english speaking with a russian accent haha. No this movie is very very good and I love seeing a movie with Max Von Sydow in it. He was a fantastic actor. You should check out "A Is For Acid". Very good made for tv movie about a British serial killer who disposed of bodies with acid. Also the movie has fantastic 50's music tunes. I really liked that movie and I recomend it.

Incredible movie, Cast, acting, direction all top notch, one of the very best serial killer movies ever made IMHO because it covers every aspect, we actually see this very sick man's home and work life and how he is belittled by everyone he always was, we really get a sense of how his character could bust out after a lifetime of being looked down on and his inability to fight back or make any social connections at. ALL this is tied together at the very end of the film by the brilliant reading of his profile {a new technique in Russia then} by the wonderful Max Von Shadow. The hunt for the killer is not like any other I have ever seen in any film because the detective put on the case is hampered at every turn because the Russian system wont admit to having a "serial killer" publicly, believing this is a symptom of the decadence of the West, he has to battle alone, it must have been a dreadful experience considering the horrific crimes committed on such innocent victims Some of he dreadful, horrific murders are shown in a very realistic way, thank God they caught him

Thanks for the review! It's not a serial killer movie but it's a classic nonetheless. The Medusa Touch (1978) with Richard Burton. It's a psychological thriller that I've watched several times. Some people crap on this movie, because it's about a telekinetic who can't stop killing. But that's what makes this movie special. What makes this movie so good is the realism of the police inspectors and psychiatrist who, upon putting together incredible incidents, come to understand that Richard Burton, even in a coma, can destroy the world. There are some basic murder scenes, but it grows to epic proportions (epic, that is, for a movie made in 1978) Anyways, I think you'll really enjoy The Medusa Touch. I've been watching every few years since it came out. Richard Burton is brilliant at being caustic and he is at his peak in this movie. His verbal putdowns are as much fun as the killing. There are some funny and brutal moments. Werner
