the way you hoped in the car made look like a getaway driver trying to escape the cops :D

The understeer mostly comes from the narrow low rolling resistance tires I believe. When KM77 did the moose test with the 3008 one time with 225 standard tires and the other with 205 low rolling resistance tires there was a HUGE difference. For me the issue with the ë-C4 is the price, the C4 is supposed to be a more affordable car and the ICE really is cheaper than the competition, but the ë-C4 is too expensive compared to a Model 3.

Ever since the DS19, Citroen have simply been sublime when it comes to ride and comfort. This car seems to continue that tradition.

A very nice video and I can only add that the normal C4 with a piston engine also offers excellent comfort for the money. In my opinion, this applies in general to Citroën and also to our slightly older 2017 C4 Picasso. It does not have the relevant progressive hydraulic cussions, but is still very comfortable as long as the road is not too rough. The same was true for our previous 2014 C4 Cactus and not least our 2001 C5 which, however, had true "oldschool" hydraulic suspension.

Oh the irony of having a Shell ad at the start of this vid 😂 Honestly, the e-C4X looks like a great car, but that trunk :/ maaaan, that was a huge miss!

Looks like a decent soft riding comfort machine. I’d have this over a Model 3, I’m allergic and also think Tesla style inside and out is an acquired taste.

Hi Bjorn, I really appreciate your work, the details and the data you are collecting and share. I might be one of the few out there.. I am interested in the level of noise on the car, i actually think is really important as it make the driving experience so much relaxing.

The lower the weight of a wheel assembly, the lower the energy consumption. Rubber is lighter than steel. My advice: get the smallest possible rim, where steel rims are thinner, they might fit the smallest diameter of rim, just not touching the brakes. Therefore in the way of reducing the weight of a wheel, get a less wide tire. A narrow tire gives you an advantage in better performance against aqua-water-planing. Increasing the side of a tire will give you additional comfort as well, and in addition, the more vibrations are damped by a higher sidewall, the less your drive axles are unneeded vibrating, and the less the axles lose energy by heat from unneeded vibrations. (background information about going narrow tire) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6wAJAOxh8LE.html You can apply this to any car, only don't drive like a race car going around corners. Drive carefully in comfort, giving you high energy efficiency. Citroën is showing you a good job of making such a car.

There is a slight opposite effect also. Less flashy wheels make you drive faster. Flashy wheels you want to show off, driving slow.

@@dt-lb6ihNo. Big rims, big energy consumption, always. That is physics. You can't change physics laws. It's been shown by dear Mr Bjorn, on its Excel sheet. I know it because I did it myself in my own car. Big cast alu rims have thicker dimensions in order to meet the same load strength as steel rims. Steel rims are stronger by thinner steel plates. Further cast alu don't tell you signs of degradation or loss of strength, they could crack instantly, while steel rims have more stretch before cracking. Therefore steel rims are much better, they dampen vibrations as well in addition to the increased rubber sidewall of the tire, they are damping both vibrations. While cast alu rims don't dampen anything at all. If you scratch a roadblock, or curbstone, with your cast alu rim, you will have a degradation and lowering of safe working load limit of your rim, which is known as a mechanical notch within metallurgy. Which could lead instantly to fatal cracking at any random moment. Cast alu rims are dangerous, heavier, and unneeded increasing power consumption.

Higher side walls also reduce your risk of pinch flats. I was getting some new tyres fitted to my car a while ago and a guy rolled up to the garage in his BMW 6 series on really low profile tyres and he had obviously hit a pot hole and blown holes in each side of the tyre.

@879cc 9 месяцев назад
I have 17'' winter tires for my e-C4 and they're wider. 215 instead of 195. This is the main reason for higher consumption. The 18'' are not that bad.

Being very old fashioned, I'm used to pulling the stalk towards me to activate high beam, and to pull it towards me once again to switch back to low beam. But those were the days of the simple, electro-mechanical relay...

You kept comparing the Citroen with a Tesla and I thought you were comparing apples with pears until I looked up the price of a Model 3 and saw the cheapest model was only a few thousand euros more expensive than a top spec eC4x. What car reviewers never seem to consider is the much higher insurance premiums you pay to drive a Tesla.
@hadtopicausername

Curious to know - what is the actual difference when it comes to insurance premiums?

This car's suspension must be a cheap evolution of Citroën's old hydro-pneumatic suspension they developed for the DS first commercially released in 1955. But already tested longer before. The original relies on gas filled spheres that act as springs and then uses a hydraulic system for height adjustment and levelling. Rolls-Royce actually licensed it for considerable time. A great example of how it works was in a video, IIRC in Top Gear about the C6, where they used the car as camera platform around a horse race track (not paved and bumpy surface). Great and usable footage, this gave. They repeated the experiment with the camera on a BMW 5 series and the result was utterly unusable. In the original, the hydraulic side not only allows height adjustment but also relays shock impacts between front and rear of the car. But it requires an active compressor that takes energy fro the engine. This however is also used for power steering and power brakes. The first time in a DS hitting the brakes lands you with your head in the wind shield. When the front wheels are pushed up, the hydraulic coupling also pushes the rear up and this can make that you don't notice a speed bump. That front/rear coupling in itself was not unique and is found in the Citroën 2CV in mechanical form and also in the original Austin/Morris/Cooper "Mini" (called hydrolastic).

Not it’s just a shock absorber that gets firmer near the bump stop. It allows a soft suspension setup without the risk of hitting the bump stop too hard on bigger bumps.

Hi Bjorn, when you planing test Lucid Air different edition ?
@vladimirgu4894
@vladimirgu4894 9 месяцев назад
@@bullshitbingo2259 hi, but you compare real range of Lucid with promo range of Merc and Porche. But for sure you right, dictance between atesla and Lucid shorter and shorter each month. My dream list now next - Lucid Air Grand Touring - Mercedes EQS - but interior, i find to little space in driver seat, event compare with my model 3, but suspension are best. And exterior i not like - Lotus Eletra, yes, SUV, after big sedans, not best choice, but tech and material inside are perfect quality - Lotus Emira - looks good, but need to know what suspension it will have - Avatr 12, looks to Avatr 11 - good materials, soft, but need test suspencion too But now i have my second Model 3 from 2019, and for sure next car will be not Tesla, distance between competitors becaim smaller and there is no point in tolerating poor build quality and poor sound insulation and wooden suspension

Björn, I know you test the car based on your driving experience, range etc etc etc. But…I feel what’s is also important is the service around the car. If you get into an issue and require in this case Citroen’s help, how is that? I wonder if that is a consideration with EVs. I guess it was more so with petrol cars since they needed maintenance more frequently
@hadtopicausername
@hadtopicausername 9 месяцев назад
That is actually one of the reasons I went for a VW. Ever since the days of the Beetle, they've had garages everywhere. The thing is, a lot of these new cars, not just EVs, tend to have quite a few teething problems that are sorted under warranty. But you still need to travel to the dealer to get them fixed.

@ingoringe6019

let me add this: the wipers are too small and noisy. the rain detection is not helpful, sometimes it wipes dry an otherwise if it is wet, it waits too long. You need permanent adjust it. the picture of the back camera is too dark and it is very timeshifted! if you use a OBD dongle, you need to disasamble the port, to close the cover. the dirtmats are very small, because there is a stablisation bar in way, if you like to pull the left leg nearer behind, it stops 20 cm in front the seat. the light in the thrunk is a joke, it is not give really light when you search something in a fullpacked way. the recupartion without padel adjustment, feels like a fossil, mode B feels like a hard bracking action. the headlights are good in urban area, but in landside with upcoming traffic, you are need always beam on and off, it is like 1990 H4-halogen. on motorway, it is better you have someone in front, so you can orientate at his backlights. the entering is uncomftable, because the very high entry threshold. the closing from the hatchback version door sounds very cheap.

Interior with small screen make the car look low tech
@ren2704
@ren2704 9 месяцев назад
To be honest, for many people the big screens distract from having your eyes on the road. Personally I prefer to have a small screen but a complete HUD where I can almost do everything I need to do with buttons on driving wheel, without having to look sideway and touching a screen to get what I want.
