@@williammohan9784 One never been to court. Two I'm 66 years old, so I ain't no boy. On more than one occasion I was stopped by police either on my way to work or returning home, I was stopped and searched by police on my way to work in the early hours and accused of looking into cars and testing their doors, a complete lie, another time while being given a lift home by an acquaintance he was stopped by police and they said I wasn't wearing my seat belt and I only put it on when he was stopped, another lie as I was wearing it at all times, there were another couple of times I was approached by police on my way into work at about five o'clock in the morning saying it was suspicious to be walking around at that time and they'd seen me acting furtively, another lie, shall I go on, I have never broken the law in my 66 years but I was still treated with disrespect and searched because they lied and made up what they say they observed, there probably are some good police out there, but in my few interactions with the police I've yet to find one that didn't lie, so my opinion still stands.

Back in the day, during a social event, I was in the company of some ex-cops and serving cops, one of whom was an old cop who was a couple of years away from retiring. Everyone knew that he had never been promoted because of various 'situations' he had been involved in. On this occasion, as he thought he was in 'safe' company, the old cop produced a pair of very old 'pincer-type' handcuffs to show us all how they did it back in his day. He then proceeded to show us all how he could make a person literally flip themselves on their head if he wanted to, just by twisting the handcuffs against the bones of their wrists and how it was regularly used to "extract the truth". When I asked about possible nerve or bone damage to the 'victim', he looked at me as if I was stupid and said "That's the whole point". Never forgot that, as the others remained silent. No matter what equipment cops are issued, they will find a way to abuse it and it's use against citizens.

@@hbomatt It's not the norm. They normally get £3k, 4k, £5k or more, but recent out of court settlements have started to decrease. They need to start rejecting the low out of court settlements and take them to court.

I agree. £500 is an insult. If they won't offer a reasonable amount, take them to court. And get the maximum publicity out of the process. Because it's only via bad publicity that there's any chance of the police changing for the better.

Take them to court all day long it’s really not much more hassle then just settling out off court. And for 2/3k it’s worth it. Shame the funds don’t come out these tyrants pockets tbh.

The suspicious nature of the reaction was more the issue.What if I was in London with my family and someone said I had a weapon. Would they grab me point weapons at me with my family just on a very small hunch or hear say. The level of policing in this incident was not only poor but dangerous and military we are not their enemy why do they treat us as such.🤔
