This is the first of three episodes. This episode is called “Civil 3D to SSA Settings - What is needed to get started”. In this episode we will go through the setup needed to bring information to and from Civil 3D and SSA.
Christopher, This is a short video I made just to show the settings inside of Civil 3D that you go back and forth with data with SSA. I only showed one type of material because it shows the interaction. Of course you can add different materials of pipe and different structures in your Pipe Network Parts List to cover what you need on an entire project. I believe that I also talk about it in the 2nd and 3rd episode. Thanks for the comment.
Is it possible to design and analyse wastewater sewage systems in SSA also? I really like the responsive design process and the communicative system profiles. Should be able to be done for wastewater sewage systems too. Maybe the system design is not as varying so there’s no need.
Man, from this video I wouldn't want to even think of using Civil 3D and SSA as a solution. Often times on a project I have to use different pipe materials and structures based on engineering judgement. From this video it would appear that Autodesk thinks civil engineers utilize one type of pipe material and one type of structure across a project which isn't always the case and almost never for structures. Seems to me a decent BIM product would be able to have this basic capability. I guess the workflow I usually teach of the road being a one way trip outside of Civil 3D is the way to go since importing back into Civil 3D doesn't work.
