This movie was a masterpiece I love this movie and what's weird is they designed the building to look like Lincoln High School in Brooklyn because it was supposed to be in Brooklyn but it was filmed in Canada
Not long ago I watched this movie just because of Alice Cooper's song, which is one of my favourite of this singer. I didn't expect much of the movie, but I liked the way the plot goes in it - the music teacher, originally a very calm person, fights alone against this outrageous school gang, - so I can say that I liked this movie very much. Also due to "Class of 1984" I became interested in Perry King's work. To say about the trailer, it is really not the best example of how the film should be advertised, because all the plot is too clear (even some really scary moments are shown).
I used to annoy my older brother by following him around the house saying, "I AM THE FUTURE! I AM THE FUTURE! I AM THE FUTURE!" If I could get him to chase me I knew it was gonna be a good day.
Seen this waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day on a rented VHS / you could not even buy a physical copy of your own back then , and this movie blew me away at the time lol , great memories ....and today I have just bought a steelbook dvd edition of the movie , lol how things have changed lol
MR BLEACH yeah the 80s were a gr8 time for movies ... I collect dvds and blu-rays these days ... back then i was finally able to collect VHS tapes of my own - around about 1988 ,I joined the Britannia Video Club and got them from there ... cheers =)
Also another fun fact this film is remade from a black and white movie with a different name the only thing that was different was the added to seems that were part of real life stories that have happened and they put them into the film as an idea for some of the plot
This was 1 of the few movies I never saw during the decade of the '80s when I was a kid.Even though I saw it available to rent on vhs at local video stores back in the days.
You got to admit it, Tom Holland before he directs Child’s Play even the late John Saxon made the movie possible especially Mark Lester. Very conventional underrated film of the 1980s. Gotta get that in 4K Blu-ray. Nice trailer.
After looking up after watching this movie I looked up New York and back then it really was that bad still Murphy is supposed to be resetting is Brooklyn it was actually filmed in Canada and they model the school to look like the actual Lincoln high from Brooklyn I think they did a fantastic job because if you look at actual Lincoln High School you can never tell the difference
I must have seen this 4-5 times when it came out at the drive-in. You NEVER see this air anywhere.. Roddy should have definitely just pulled the trigger. And now I really want to go find old episodes of RIPTIDE😁
Wow, I saw it for the first time last nigh. Good film, very intense, glad I watched this trailer after the film because it shows a lot of important scenes.
Chalk O'holic it would’ve been even more accurate if they made all the white kids school shooters but that probably would’ve been a 5 min movie so I guess they had to embellish a bit huh?
Imagine if Edward Woodward from the television series 'The Equalizer' would have played the music teacher in this film. Pulls up to the school in his jaguar...'Meet your new music teacher! Robert McCall'
What's funny is they filmed in Toronto Canada but it was supposed to be set in New York because Lincoln High School in Brooklyn and they model the school to look exactly like that school you couldn't tell the difference so I have to give props to the person who made the school look exactly like the Brooklyn High School
@@nonconformist4439 child labor laws. Actual teenage actors can only work a certain number of hours at certain times of day/night. Its much cheaper and efficient to employ adults who kind of look like teenagers. Particularly with low budget movies like this that have a very short production time. Sexual and violent content is a factor as well. There's plenty of movies where underage kids are involved in scenes that are "inappropriate for children", but parents and guardians have to be involved. With legal adults, all of those extra costs and inconveniences are cut.
Yup. Always laugh when I read those boneheaded comments. Look at the trailers for the first 2 Friday the 13th films. They legit show just about every death lol
brilliant film, but I really don't think Alice Cooper's song is being taken in quite the right way. "I am the future" is an allegorical statement--if the future could talk and address us in the present, that is what it would say. "Take a look at my face, I am the future" does not mean, "Hey, check it out, I'm in a gang and I'm taking over this town."
@@MrWeareone777 It was written in 1948, hence the title (reverting the last two ciphers). And it's not just about being monitored, it's about being repressed by an all-powerful State, making us dependent, poor, indoctrinated and slaves thanks to collectivism, interventionism, totalitarianism... In short, socialism.
The population was much younger in the 60's-80's due to all the dang Boomers, which caused a lot of crime and volatility. Nowadays most people are old....
This movie kinda reminds of the events that happens today worldwide with the youth being brainwashed and claims to be awoke for the ecological purpose but doesn't even know what they're talking about . Many of todays youth wants only the Hippie revival is all and it smells like that since 2005 because the generations of hack then never did and cared for a future , thats the real fact . Proof again that many 70's, 80's to mid 90's movies were ahead of it's times and were visionaries to what would happen today to it's decadence .
@@Tony-1971 No be some people that cannot read between lines today nor can comprehend stuff and last learn real history by themselves. Yet there are many ethnicity that has a great situation worldwide ( black people are actors, singers, politician, waiter, etc...) When will people open their eyes sincerely ans seriously ?!
@@Tony-1971 lol that "white privilege" thing is just an excuse in reality . Wondering why before the 2000's everything and everyone was good and acted like adults and were normal . But since 2005 people are stupid for the mots of them , alot are doing it on purpose to be ignorants and too many people are reading history they cannot figure out it was the "past" ans thus we cannot repair what has been done but make it better somehow . Look how far the farce comedy goes with the 7th art ( cinema) with " Gone with the Wind" a movie that tells the truth from were the movie is set North&South so i don't know why it is racist ? Is beyond me . People are seeking all what is bad sadly . If some people are too sensitive about a certain movie, music or book there's one thing simple to do "Don't Watch/Listen/Read It" as easy as that .
This proves you didn't go to high school in the early 80s.While this movie overdoes a lot stabbings and violence were a problem in many high schools at the time.
As a Child in 1984, I have always been confused why 1984 looked more Wasteland Punk Futuristic than 1994. In 1984, I was used to seeing Early Gen X/ Forgotten Generation, and late Baby Boomers dressing like this Futuristic form in the mid 80s, when I was a Toddler, then it Stopped in the States.
Pellicola molto bella, la pellicola è godibile e dal ritmo coinvolgente, fino ad arrivare ad un finale duro e violento, la pellicola è ispirata da diverse storie vere di violenza scolastica di cui il regista aveva letto sui giornali.
My first thought about this movie is a light casual 80s teen movie.. You know, a troubeled student but with a great potential, so the teacher would come close at him, understand his problem, and he's become a good guy.. But good god this movie was disturbing af.. Especially with all the rape mumbo jumbo
I never knew the original Class Of 1999 was a sequel to this movie. I thought it was just Class Of 1999 and the sequel Class Of 1999 II: The Substitute. Calling that film "Class Of 1999 II" is really misleading.
Not from what I've researched from where it's supposed to be sent in it was that bad in the 80s in Brooklyn New York that they had to have metal detectors
Was filmed in Toronto Canada and the school was modeled to look exactly like Brooklyn high school because that's where the phone was set but after watching the movie I had my doubts it was really that bad I've researched it and it's true Brooklyn School actually had metal detectors back then
When the students kept setting traps for the teacher. They were going to toy with him before killing him. The minute the teacher started setting traps and flipping the script. That’s when the students knew that they fucked up.
Entertaining flick, but a total misrepresentation of what punk was about back then. Definitely fed the media’s manufactured image of punks as a bunch of violent, sociopathic, dumbed-down thugs... which in turn attracted a bunch of violent, sociopathic, dumbed-down thugs into the punk scene. Still, the Teenage Head footage is great. So is Roddy McDowell’s classroom meltdown.
