Mary Berry returns to one of her most loved locations - Port Isaac on the Cornwall coast. Along with local chef Nathan Outlaw she explores some of the wonderful classics inspired by the great outdoors - even if the weather is against them! From her take on a delicious bouillabaisse filled with some of the ocean's best offerings, to a freshly caught mackerel barbecued by the sea, and some rich and crispy spatchcock poussin marinated and cooked alongside it. As the home cook and Michelin-starred chef cook alongside each other it is obvious how inspired they both are by the coast and a shared love of simple, fresh, local food cooked well.
Classic Mary Berry is a new 6 part series that celebrates what makes Mary Berry such a brilliant cook, teacher and inspiration. Each food-filled episode focuses on a different style of dish, some well-known and others brand new to our kitchens. But all of them are made with Mary's very own style of cooking - simple accessible skills and techniques, few ingredients and her distinctive cheeky shortcuts that are so easy to follow. Its this loving and fuss free approach to home cooking that has given Mary Berry such an exceptional career and keeps her firmly placed as one of the countries favorites.
No one can make it as easy and delicious as this its cooking that is just very Classic Mary Berry.

She really is a marvellous cook and a wonderful presenter. I have yet to find one of her recipes that wasn't sound as a bell and gave excellent results. I just adore her. I'm in Australia and I became aware of her later than the Brits but she really is one of my go to for reliable, usually easy recipes that always give me good results. I recommend her videos and recipes to people who are either starters or novice cooks as her presenting style is such that she actually makes you want to try any techniques you may not be experienced in rather than fill you with trepidation.

Having watched Mary Berry with Judith Chalmers on old Thames Television uploads, it is wonderful to see how much she hasn't changed. I mean that as a compliment. Naturally, she's more experienced and her dishes reflect that but also how talented she was all those years ago and how much she hasn't changed her recipes! I absolutely love the way she interacts with others also. She brings the best out of them and is brutally honest with those she is with but mostly with herself.

You could substitute candied lemon or orange or grapefruit peel, and get a similar pop, but not the burn. If you wanted a burn, you might add a drop of cayenne oil or even a tiny hit of white pepper..

Never lived in Spain, have ya -- that is indeed a Spanish tortilla :)
@TheSassy1962
@TheSassy1962 4 года назад
@@Jenlia67 ....no, I am from California. Tortillas are made from flour or corn meal. Eggs don't come into play unless it is a filling. I have been to Spain a few times, and never, ever saw anything like this served. Italy however, they are all over the place. It just sounds a bit ignorant to use an Italian recipe and a Spanish word that has nothing to do with what structure of the dish is.
@Jenlia67
@Jenlia67 4 года назад
@@TheSassy1962 Eh, don't call things you don't know *ignorant* -- the irony is funny though - do your research :) I lived in Spain for three years -- remember, different areas of countries have different cultures -- people in Northern US don't eat grits, but southerners do (one example). This is a very common tapa in southern Spain. Gazpacho is even different down there.
@amandaribofpalmetto
@amandaribofpalmetto 4 года назад
@@TheSassy1962 this is Tortilla Espanola. It's an actual thing and in most other Spanish language countries, other than Mexico and parts of Central America, tortilla is this type of dish. Flour and corn tortillas as we are familiar with them in the US are Mexican and come from an Aztec dish, tlaxcalli. The Spaniard explorers called them tortilla because of the resemblance to their egg tortilla... en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_omelette en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corn_tortilla
