As I type this my classroom set up is complete. There are some little touches here and there I might add, but aside from that everything is done. This is the last vlog in the classroom set up series.
The next video you see will be my classroom tour. I hope you've enjoyed going through this process with me and my friends and family.

I teach high school. I could never do all you have done to setup a classroom. We have two bulletin boards in our classrooms and that is it. Nothing is allowed on the walls. I am so grateful. Good luck to a smooth start to middle school.

Oh wow! Prissyb45, we are allowed to decorate at the high school where I teach, but some of our male teachers have classrooms that remind me of my days in college! Pretty bare!!! I would not be upset at all if my administrator would not allow decor. Heehee. I am about to enter my 22nd year, and for the past several years, decor has not been at the top of my priority list. I always have a theme, however, and I do light decor with the theme in mind. SmartieStyle is truly on her game!

Thank you! I totally understand wanting to enjoy every last bit of summer. Wit everything being new to me I have to space things out so that I am not too overwhelmed when we have to be back. Classroom tour should be up next weekend.

Yes. She is very creative Also, it really is hard for us to truly enjoy our summer. I will say that for the last few years, however, I have not done anything school related until no more than two weeks before returning. I have stuck with that rule, and it has truly worked. Props to SmartieStyle!

I was totally of the same mindset as you about the teacher toolbox. But, like you, I won’t have any drawers in my desk this year, so I caved. Now that I have it set up, I actually really like it. The one I got is white with pretty big drawers that pull out all the way, which is super convenient. So when I need thumbtacks, I can pull out the drawer and take it with me where I need it. When I need markers for anchor charts, same thing, I can just pull the whole drawer. I think I am going to stash mine on a lower shelf behind my teacher area so it isn’t super visible.

This is why teachers are burnt out. You're supposed to be on holiday but here you are working!! Then you have to spend your own money to get your classroom together. This is the plight of teachers all over the world.

Yes, we spend money on our classrooms, but most teachers I know don’t go to this extent. I spend more money on supplies and extra curriculum than I do on classroom decor. I certainly don’t have the time or inclination to cover every wall. But if that’s what you want, go for it. This classroom looks beautiful.

Thank God for brothers! My brother helps me in my classroom too. I think he wishes I would have become an accountant or something besides a teacher. Less work for him! So lucky to have friends and family to help.

i think its coming along very well. I'm glad that you have good friends that can help you with your classroom setup. Organizing takes a lot of work and thought. I'm excited for the final classroom reveal and also the vlogs on the intermediate level.

Your friends are awesome to help you! You are lucky you get to stay in your classroom until after 7:30 pm! We have to be out by 3 pm during the summer.However, if a summer program is running in your building you get to stay until 5:30

omg your friend's facial expressions are HILARIOUS. I feel like I must be her friend - I too make similar faces at my bestie when we are at work. I LOVE the colour scheme of your room, it's what I originally wanted to do with my class this year but I wasn't sure if the walls were going to be painted from a sage green to grey and after I had committed to dealing with the green, I got word it's been painted. So it's probably a bit late to change my theme now but we shall see!

It is the wood... I would use a staple gun. The hot glue will hold on for awhile, then it will come off. I have tried that before and finally used a staple gun to keep the contact paper to the wood.

Just a tip, something my husband taught me! I lined the side of my desk drawers with contact paper, and was having the problem with it not sticking as well to the rougher surfaces. He used a blow dryer to heat the paper after I had applied it, and this made it form around it easier and better, and it made it stick a lot better! So even though you're done, you might try hitting it with a blow dryer to help it stay stuck :)

Love it! I wanted to do my counters with the contact paper, but I have 4 sinks since my room was once a Science room. I really don’t want to cut around 4 sinks! I used to spend 30+ hours setting up my room too but I can’t do it with my toddler while pregnant. Lol he would tear everything down as I was putting it together.

Oh, there is no way I would be able to devote as much time to this process if I had little ones and/or was pregnant. Yeah, cutting around 4 sinks would be a bit of a pain.

They have seville classic 10 Drawer carts on amazon that come in many different colors such as white to fit in where your desk area is. Im sure it would help you a-lot like graded papers and an extra things for your desk! The room looks amazing @smartiestyle

I used to help my Grandmother with wrapping paper. We always ironed it. That will take out the wrinkles. Yes, it is some time. But using a cool iron, you could probably get most of the wrinkles out.

Takoja I know. 😔 Maybe I can suggest it to the person who made the product. I’m not sure why we feel the need to have carpeted floors where I’m at. It would definitely make life easier for everyone if we didn’t have carpet.

KittyKax noise reduction? Hmmm...not sure in Finnish schools there ain't really noise problems in class rooms, even if shoes are on. Might be a reason tho but you ain't ment to walk a lot during class tho or are you?

Wonderful classroom! I know you said you live in California. I am a teacher in Texas, and our Fire Marshal is super strict with us. We are having to adhere to California codes and rules. Do they enforce that at your school?

mimiof3421 we just use post it notes for equal spacing and eye ball it from there. It always seems to work for us. 😅

Some teachers paint their bulletin boards. I wonder if your admin would allow you to paint your bulletin board walls gray. That would be one solution to the paper crinkling after they shampoo your carpets. You also would only have to touch up here and there at the beginning of the year. Looking great!
