I have a similar tip to clean your whole kitchen...Forget to press the lid of the blender down firmly and watch as bubbles and soap foam explode across the counter! :') it worked though.

Great video. I would add two points. You only need a drop of soap and add the water first so the soap doesn't get stuck to the blender, making it harder to rinse. Thank you.

also if it's been used for many years and their is a film on the container use 1 cup warm vinegar and 1/4 cup baking soda and 2 cups water..blend and let sit for a day or two and gently scrub it off. works like a charm

Melissa, I remember you had this tip in another video. Because that's how I've been cleaning my blenders and even food processors, since I watched that video. It's so much better scrubbing and cutting your hand on the blade.

Thank you SO much for this! Much appreciated! Like someone else also mentioned in the comments, the only reason I wasn't having healthy smoothies was because I didn't want to deal with cleaning the blender especially in its blade area so this is a massive help! Easy and fast to do too! :D Cheers!

Ya and if the jar is not plastic then Yu can fill it up with hot water and leave it for 10mins and rinse off...

My Vitamix guy told me to clean it the same way with a single drop of soap and hot water! What happens if you have stuck on food like Chia seeds or Peanut butter? I've had those stick all over the sides and at the base where the chopper is, it's hard to get those off :(

How do you clean the rubber band that intact with the blender blade? There always incidents of mould growing on it.

Help! I recently received some hand-me-down throw pillows that are black and white and they're completely covered in smoke stains! How do I wash them so the white parts are white again with out fading the black? I have Oxi clean white revive; would that be safe to use?

The blenders that have a removal rubber seal have to be taken out so that you can clean underneath it so that mold doesn't form. With my nuribullet, I have to do this because 95% of the time there is food that gets stuck in the crack or under the rubber seal thing. Also, to clean under the lower metal blades I use those small baby bottle cleaners (the ones that are small enough to clean a straw but have bristles to scrub). I would only maybe try this video's cleaning method in between multiple uses of my nutribullet but not as a final cleaning.

I do it the same since a few years, but If you want to remove the bad smells that usually persist (for example, when you had blended onions) you can add a spoon of baking soda!

I do this but what about the base? I have filled my blender up too much before and it bubbled out. But i can't think of a good way to clean the base.

Note: does not work as well if you let the blender sit with all the gunk in it. Save yourself the pain and clean as soon as you are finished with it.

I've cleaned my blender this way for many a year but I gotta ask - do you need that much soap? I usually put the water in first with a small dab of soap. It lathers and cleans beautifully, especially if I use Dawn which is what it appears that you use here.

What about the inside of the blender motor base- it gets some spill over almost always and it is super annoying to clean those darn crevices without having to run it under a tap( will mess with the electrical system)

With blenders like the NutriBullet, you have to remove the seal from the base aswell to clean it thoroughly, because liquid gets trapped in there.

Hi Deirdre, I would consult your owners manual on that one. Some blenders are sealed for safety reasons.

Yes that's how I always was mine. And if a strong smell of garlic or something is there just let it soak for few hours in water and venigar

Make sure you check your owners manual before cleaning the blade! Manufacturers usually have very specific instructions to keep people from getting hurt. Good luck!

I accidentally made a bomb in my kitchen when I decided to put soap, baking soda and vinegar in my blender cup to get rid of that nasty old whey protein powder smell… I opened the blender and hot soapy vinegar exploded in my face haha

Ashley & Nichelle Let it soak in soap and water for about an hour or so so the stuck on mess softens up. Then just blend.

I've always cleaned them this way. Trick is to do it before it dries. If it dries, surely you recommend baking soda and vinegar!!!

Good, but too much dish soap used in the video. I was raised by *that* generation that doesn't like waste and saves everything. I am going to use this advice, though, only with less soap. 😊
