Dont do this. Spray it with brake clean and call it a day. It will remove the oils from manufacturing. You don't want oils on the breakin surface. Water and a towel is not the way, water does not break down the oils.
I was gonna say I've been using brake cleaner for years and I wouldn't think the manufacture grease I find on some rotors will come off with water unless it's like, boiling
I'm gonna show yall a lil bit of science. Comere kuz! This is because oil losses its grip on the surfaces as heat causes oil to expand. So, any greasy substance can be cleaned off using hot water.

Alot of mouths full of negative comments....I've done this before....yall saying rust issues, smoke issues....you do realize the heat created when brakes are applied literally burns EVERYTHING off daily....the point I believe is to make rotor changes more often than cleaning them or turning them ladies!😂😅😮
You should definitely wash with a mixture of hydrogen peroxide, acetic acid and sodium. Edit: this is sarcasm. You will get thermogenic oxidizer with a acidic vapor that can harm skin eyes and lungs. And also oxidize iron .

@@AxtuoAx nope unless your using soap then just hot water is not enough so no that’s not how that works because there will still be excess amounts of grease and oils on the rotor it why of course brake cleaner was made to remove basically all of the excess grease and oils that are still stuck on the rotor
Yeah water is no bueno use brake cleaner. It works much better and it won't rust your brand new part by the next morning 🫤 use common sense know when someone's trying to manipulate you into doing something stupid just so they get a kick out of it 🫤 if you truly don't know, ask most people will give you legitimate information, but be aware of the few that are not trying to help you ! This is where we come back to the have common sense 😁👍

@@AxtuoAx after 25 years of being a technician I think I'll stick with brake cleaner. Thank you 👍 You can use water. I just choose not to it's a personal preference. I think more than anything as long as you get all that sealant off it really doesn't matter what you choose to use 🫤
@@gotgokued8640 You really can use either or I mean I've used soap and water to clean up rotors before. There's nothing wrong with it, but personally brake cleaner is much better. I mean there's a reason why most people use brake cleaner
@@garycsfunlife right but he said only water never added soap into the mix and hot water doesn’t fully remove the oils and grease that are still sticking onto the rotor instead he chose to be arrogant like he knew what he was talking about
