I have a 15L Vevor. I never put anything dirty into the tank itself. I always put my dirty thing in some kind of bucket with cleaner. I then place the bucket into the tank and fill up between the tank and bucket up to the water line on the Vevor. It makes cleanup so much easier and you can just have buckets of different types of cleaner ready to go...and the Vevor never gets dirty. The sound waves and heat travel right through any liquid and cleans it just the same. This also allows you to clean things that are taller than the Vevor having the bucket water line limited only by how tall the bucket is. Despite my Vevor being much smaller than yours, I was able to successfully clean an entire 5 speed lawnmower transmission and clamshell for a rebuild using a tall cat litter bucket.

What different solutions do you have good luck with? I actually just picked up the 6L ultrasonic cleaner from Harbor Freight a few weeks back to clean up some stuff from an 88 Yamaha ATV I'm working on. So far I've only used Evaporust in a mason jar for nuts and bolts which works amazing for rust. I still need to figure out some good options for general parts cleaning though.. just dirty/grease/grime type stuff. I'd prefer something that won't harm aluminum or other metals if you leave them in long. Last night for the hell of it I tried dan dish soap and water since it was all I had and I threw some brake hardware in there (brackets, caliper, etc) but it didn't really do much at all. Thanks

@@jonathangaliano2617 With my lawn mower transmission, I used a mixture of Simple Green and water for the aluminum clamshell in one bucket and pure acetone for the greasy gears and everything inside in another. The acetone did a better job than the Simple Green, but it still wasn't perfect. Acetone is what's in brake cleaner, it won't harm steel, but it can corrode aluminum. Gasoline works really well cutting grease too, but only do that in glass and not plastic. Project Farm has a good video on different cleaners to try: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WHISaDS1wb0.html

Small parts you can put is a zip lock bag topped up with water and CT18. The tank itself just hot water the tank stayed clean that way.

Hot soapy water is the go. Wont hurt anything but will take a bit longer. I have used soap ranging from dish soap, washing powder, simple Green, even the prescribed fluid and they all work well. For really tough gunk I soak them first in a bucket for a few days to soften it up. Usually with a solvent based cleaner if I have time. If you think it isnt working just put a bit of aluminum foil it should have holes in it after 20 minutes if all is ok.

I use Pine-Sol household cleaner, did an awesome job cleaning my nasty SBF timing cover and dissolved the corrosion in the bolt holes that broke off in. When i pulled it out i was like, did the bolts dissolve too then found them when draining it out. Parts smelled good too lol

I use an ultrasonic cleaner at work to clean scuba internals, and we use an approved dish soap (it's just mild dish soap) and water. Coz it's scuba, everything is already clean but it might be worth a go. I'm looking at one for home for my BMW that we are working on. This sealed the deal that they are worth the money

help please. I used 400ml of CT18 in the a 30 litres tank at 50 degrees and 30 minutes on SU carbies that are not anywhere near as bad as your old piston and very disappointed with the end result, compared to what yours did on the piston. What am I doing wrong????

Will a reduced amount of ct18 work due to being not as strong?

NOTE **** for the best results DO NOT allow basket or parts to rest on bottom or sides as it interferes with the sonic movement. ALSO **** The sonic waves do not etch anything . If anything is causing etching it’s your type of cleaner used . Liquid dish soap works perfectly fine
@BoostGumps
@BoostGumps Месяц назад
Sorry to not make that clear enough in the video, but yes 100% the etching is a result of the solvents not the sonic process.

Shock treatment degreaser same brand as what your using is awesome I use it at work bout an inch in the bottom of a 1.5ltr spray bottle
@BoostGumps
@BoostGumps 7 месяцев назад
Yeh shock treatment is what we use to degrease pretty much everything. Up until we got this unit its all we used. It's very caustic though and will etch alloy if not careful aswell. Them rocker post rails at the end of this video had been soaked/blasted/soaked in shock treatment I don't even know how many times, but this unit still got them cleaner than the shock treatment did! We still use the shock treatment for cleaning engine bays and engines prior to disassembly etc, great stuff.

What I have noticed, on materials like that sometimes there are weird bright spots and what I've read is that these are craters/rips. Is that true?

Ct-18 what does "quite a bit" mean for a ratio? I'm guessing full strength?

Potassium hydroxide and dish soap works a treat, we use it in our industrial size ultrasonic cleaners.

@DATONALKY День назад
@@jonathangaliano2617 as long as you don't leave it for a long time, and can turn the aluminium a bit darker depending on how much potassium hydroxide you use.

I want to start business like this, cleaning autoparts using ultrasonic cleaning. Wkuld u give me advices? What detergents should i use? I have the idea but i am still fathering info
@BoostGumps
@BoostGumps 4 месяца назад
My advice would be to look into wet bead blasting. Its the most effective and least abrasive way to clean up parts. There is a huge demand for it amongst restorations etc. It would be a great little business.

@@ZachComa Isn't that possibly causing it to explode? I read that there shouldn't be any flammable liquids in an ultrasonic cleaner ever. Or am I wrong?
@ZachComa
@ZachComa Месяц назад
@@pr1sm55 I don't use heat, just sound. But, flammable liquids in the tank by themselves would make a ton of dangerous vapor no doubt. In sealed containers it's fine.
