Wow, I have never seen a fitting that attaches to an MCB to make it an RCBO

Delroy, I would love to see a video of you just chatting about your experience in the past, how you got into being an Electrician and your journey, cheers Delroy

I agree with putting a tee box for the fixing of a light,reason being I had a job where a old fashion metal bulkhead was hanging of the cables,the heat had melted the plastic box ,and the brass threaded fixings came away from the box 👍

Agree with you about mounting the light fitting to wall and having a short flex glanded to a junction box or wiska box for ease of future maintenance. It's always nice to consider the next Electrician who will come along and have to interpret and work on your installation. 👍🏻

For the em light, you could get a dome cover/ conduit lid with a 20mm thread. Put on a PG gland and run a flex to the light and wagos in the conduit box. 👍👌

Lower-tech but I've drilled a small hole in a plastic conduit lid and taken a flex out of the hole in situations like this before.

I find the best way to get the holes right is using a box lid to mark the back of the fitting... cant go wrong that way.

Little trick to stop lights shaking when installed to a box - cut conduit to gap size and pop a long screw through the conduit and fix to wall on side of the fitting (like a barrel washer).

For an rcd it asks for the time in milliseconds, if you are using a 30mA rcd/rcbo then it’s for additional protection,you record the 5x test (highest of both cycles) only. There’s no requirement or reason why you would record the 1x test other than if it was say an 100 mA rcd used for fault protection only. If you have recorded the 1x test only on the certificate then that is incorrect.
@ishkebab
@ishkebab 3 года назад
@Minix Tvbox the form simply asks for the rcd test in mS , depending what the purpose of the rcd is for ( in this case additional protection) you record the result for additional protection which is the 5X test. We require the rcd to disconnect within 40mS not 300mS.

For the em. light Del I would of used a click socket and plug... which is pretty standard now for industrail units...

You can drill a 20 mm hole in the angle box and fit a bushed adapter and now you got a t box after all that angle box is just like an adaptable box had to do this a few times in the past the bush fits good on the angle box would only do this inside as you would loose the ip rating to a point when drilled

I remember retro fitting those Mem Eaton Rcbo adaptors over 10 years ago, I'm sure Eaton do a Rcbo now complete without having to convert an existing Mcb, unless of course the new type Rcbos don't fit the existing distribution board.

@@cumberland1234 The Eaton EAD06BH30C which is a 6amp type B domestic rcbo ( other sizes are available) looks shorter than the memshield 3 in photos , I dont know if they do a type c or D version for industrial/Commercial.

Hi Delroy, Nicely presented, pleasant video, as always, THANKS. I agree with Adamsmith though - surely that Spur was just wired incorrectly causing a reverse polarity ? The originals look like the same make/model, and clearly the cables are terminated differently, aren’t they

3 double sockets on a spur?
@paultipton743

As the socket boxes are metal I would ran a fly lead cpc to the earth terminal on them

That spur was wired up wrong wasn't it? Spur to the left shows brown, brown, blue from left to right. The one with the fault shows blue, brown, brown from left to right. Not that I've done one since college, but I think that's what an R1+Rn test will flag up! Loving the videos man!

That makes me laugh with the cheapskate customer with the dodgy spur on their storage heater. The cost of a new spur is what, £2-£3? All that arguing the toss over £2 when they’ve just paid probably £5-600 for a new heater. I wouldn’t go back there DelBoy. If they weren’t interested in your advice, let them rot. Damn cheapskates 😡
