Jessica and I check out the world's largest stand of old growth red pine, which surrounds Temagami's Wolf Lake. This area is designated a "forest reserve", which protects it from logging, but not from mining activity. Despite continued promises from the Ontario Government to one day include this area in the Chiniguchi Waterway Provincial Park (which would provide it with full protection), the reserve remains in a holding pattern due to the renewal of mining leases. Without full protection, mineral exploration (and the great swath of forest clearing that come with it) continues around the lake. After checking out the large pines and mining activity around Wolf Lake, we make our way up to Chiniguchi where we climb up "The Elephant" and check out some alligator remains. Enjoy!
