It’s crazy looking back at these interviews. I got so much respect for Jon for coming on both fox and cnn multiple times and having both come on his show. Who would have thought that this guy would be the best bridge between the right and left, bridging comedy with politics. No one’s been able to replicate it. Actually able to have conversations with people with polarising point of views. Who would have thought the guy from how high would be such an American treasure. America is in a bad need of a laugh and this guy knows how to do it.
Yeah, he kinda saw all this mess coming down the pipe back then. Even mentioning that people would vote for Dolphins or a bowl of fruit should run to be elected,, Trump wins.
It is frightening how brilliant, charismatic, quick & funny Jon is. He is so astute in his analysis 🤔 His voice is what's missing from our political discourse. Thank G-d for RU-vid!!!
I have always believed that if he didn't retire in 2015, Trump would not have won. His political power to call out BS is near God quality. I went to that rally...was awesome.
Watching this April, 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic. Amazing how nothing has changed in the last decade. And Jon nailed FoxNews as a tenacious political machine!
Much has changed. He hooked about being fired via Twitter, because it was inconceivable that anyone could be so shallow and cowardly that they'd fire someone via tweet. He couldn't have imagined the shithole that trump would transform American politics into.
He also nailed calling CNN "the worst". A burning building, a sinking ship, focused on conflict, on drama, creating a false sense of emergency. He wasn't wrong. FoxNews and CNN, different sides of the same coin.
@@luxmoto7344 if i remember correctly during one of his debates with o'reilly he said that cnn isnt as far left as fox is far right so i would be carefull with that "one coin". Both are shitty but there are in diffrent bullshit leagues

I don't care about the amount of bullshit, if both are shitty, then the rest doesn't matter anymore. ...But yes, if you have to say which one is worse, then yes, Fox comes on top. There are no winners in the losers department. :)
Jon Stewart is an American treasure. He is informed, intelligent, quick-witted, high-minded and genuinely good. It doesn't hurt that he is also physically gorgeous. He's not Tom Cruise or any the pretty ones. He in Paul Newman, Steve McQueen and Michelangelo's David territory. His classically beautiful face belongs on an ancient Greek or Roman coin. He is really a phenomenon. I am sure he isn't everyone's cup of tea , but to each his own. That's what keeps us interesting.

@@tomsko863 Well I think he was trying to be funny, because he was interviewing a comedian . . . . and Larry King is a dickish cynic on top of that. But Stewart just wanted to use the time to get his genuine views across because he had a half hour of prime time where he *didnt* have to be funny.

I live semi-local to the rally location, and I'm incredibly glad I made the choice to go. It was so packed that even though I got there early, I could barely see the furthest-out screen. And there was a sea of people behind us that only got bigger as time went on. We were all there because we were Tired Of The BS and Wanted To Do Something. It took hours to get home via the metro (subway) but it was worth it. I'm not sure we really did anything aside from make a moment in time we'll never forget, but there was energy there. It was... Being.
Jon's a class act. King is in a class of his own...from yesteryear. It's refreshing to hear someone speak honestly and openly...and even toss in humor at the shit hole we all stand in up to our necks.
You could tell who he (Larry King) really had camaraderie with on his show. As someone who saw many LKL episodes when it was on, the ones with the camaraderie were the best.
Always have loved Jon Stewart and I've seen all of the interviews I take his point that he's a comedian informed by his politics not the other way around. I'm in no way saying he has the responsibility of a news Network to inform people but just as a personal fan of his I often struggle to understand who /what he supports. Like I also think the system is broken and try noticing the absurdity of it all and that's why, full disclosure, I'm a Bernie supporter. Many people with similar sentiments have reached the opposite conclusion and voted for Trump. But where is Stewart's conclusion? Again as a fan id love to hear him endorse a presidential candidate and tell us why. Also, probably my own bias, but Bernie seemed like the perfect jumping point for Jon to rally around but obviously he didn't do that
From what I understand from his beliefs in politics, he wants someone who has the makings of a president (charisma, morality/steadfast in his beliefs--which is where his political beliefs come into play. He's left leaning but generally-centric, meaning... he judges by the best candidate for the position. And yanno, i support your candidate too. I mean, he's loads better than...else.
You should refer to the Chris Wallace one. He explains what he strives to be. He pointed out the absurdity of both sides but more so in how the media covers it. The Daily Show is first and foremost a satire of news media.
He said he was a sanders supporter. I get the feeling he doesn’t want to get directly involved in politics. Anyways I always thought he was at his best critiquing the media.

Why is it that wherever Jon Stewart goes so-called journalists on the left and right try their hand at roast comedy and come off looking like jerks? I'm quite a lefty but I like watching Jon shred through Larry King just as much as when it's Tucker Carlson.

33:35 when Larry randomly opened the book, I’m guessing the picture that was shown to the audience was an accident. Although, it’s kinda ironic that Jon said the best part of the book is the funny pictures.....and then THAT specific picture came into view! Lol either way-hilarious
This interview brings back the old days before interviews became systematic popularized nonsense. The interview is kind of cereal compared to most CNN FOX MSNBC interviews.

@sweetbabynyc He cuts right through the unimportant partisan BS and addresses real issues. He's so charismatic, I agree he should lead. He already does by expressing something other than the whackjobs on both sides. Agreed.
