Wow, some of you guys really? Yes, there are some other options that are fantastic knives if you want to lay out the cash but some folks either don't or can't. Cobratec is an alternative that offers a great build with quality components backed by a solid warranty for a fair price!!! Why are you all hating??? WOW!!!

I have collected knives for 50 years and know a bit about quality and I bought a medium silver at a show in wy yesterday. Anyway it's not sloppy or loose like some of the much more expensive ones. Its lifetime backed and I'm very impressed as I tested it big time. I will be back for more.

In fact I was at a boat show and they had these knives!(Cobratec had their own stand). The trigger, button, whatever, takes some force so it doesn’t automatically go off in your pocket. The small has an about 4 inch handle, with a good size blade. The medium had a 5 inch handle with a 3 inch blade, while the large had a 6-7 inch handle with a 4-5 inch blade. It is very sturdy and the blade deploys quickly. I would recommend this knife over all the other high dollar knives.

I've been using one of the D2 steel ones as my EDC for a few years now. It's been a fabulous blade. Absolutely no problems or malfunctions. I do a lot of work in a warehouse environment, so I'm pulling it out to open boxes quite regularly and it has held up very well.

Just bought a Cobratec OTF knife. Seems to be superb quality and craftsmanship; extremely sharp. Some of the earlier reviews may not reflect the current level of quality and craftsmanship that they have today (2/27/24). Couldn’t be more pleased.

I got 2 cobratec, 1 Vipertec, 1 microtech and I will say the only noticeable difference between microtech and these are the blade steel. The build quality and warranty is arguably better and it's so funny how microtech voided my warranty after saying I can open my knife by myself, that's why I wont buy another overpriced microtech

I have three of these of different sizes. All the D2 blades. I was never an EDC knife guy until I got this knife. I have been EDC one now for about 4 years. My favorite one is the middle size, IMO the large is a bit too big to carry in my jeans every day vs the medium or the smaller one. Easy to clean and you can get a blade replacement for about 40 USD.

I have purchased a Cobratec and watched your review, the problem(s) that I have is that (A) your information appears fairly scattered and I don't see any coupon code for the CobraTec knives. (B) It also appears that the knife they sent you has quite a bit lighter action than the one I purchased and wouldn't mind getting another, but the one I have, the trigger or actuator seems so stiff or heavy that it is almost uncomfortable and offsetting. I thought a little lubrication and use would help, but I'm thinking it almost certainly has to do with the weight &/or strength of the spring. Did you notice this with the one you were using? And since you had contact and review, do you know if it's possible to get any sort of discount benefit as well as possibly reducing the trigger weight or pressure?? Nice channel and review. Thanks.

I have a German Nato OTF knife made in Solingen from the 1990's. After many years of use, the blades will get some wiggle on all OTFs. Just the nature of the beast I guess. I bought a CobraTech OTF today. It seems decent. It is a good option for a cash strapped person to enter the OTF genre and then go from there. I like the warranty and case that comes with it. Paid 49.99.

@@boostedbavarian Wow! Have I had this thing 4 years already? So I will be totally honest here, I’ve never “used it” once, have only played with it a few times (just the other day actually). It does seem very rugged & very robust, however, it’s rather heavy & just a little too big for me to carry. I’ve had a lot of aluminum bodied OTF knives & have gotten so used to those that it’d be hard to get used to something like this Cobratec. I work in the auto industry & a knife is crucial, but I don’t want to use a $400 OTF for that, so I’ve gone through several Lightning OTF’s, usually getting 6mo out of them. I must say though, I’ve had this one particular OTF that I got off Amazon (no doubt Chinese), & it’s simply amazing. It’s been through hell & just won’t quit! I also bought it 4 years ago & am so impress at its longevity. I’ve bought 6 more just like it to have for backup (which live in display case with Cobratec). Anyway… the Cobratec “seems” great & all but once more I can’t provide a valid opinion on it’s performance.

I got the lightweight with the D2 steel blade. Drop point non-serrated. I work in a kaolin plant, and use it daily cutting conveyor belts, stripping wire, etc. You would think that in the environment this knife is being used in, that I would have a lot of issues. NO!! I wash it out occasionally, and couple drops of oil, and it cycles great. I’m buying 2-3 more as a backup for myself, and a couple more as gifts for coworkers.

I paid $40 for the Lightning and $100 for the CT. I'd pay 100 for the CT over and over again before a lightning for EDC. If you're getting an OTF just to play with it, just get whatever. This is the exact same knife is the atomic defender sold on grindworx. They just rebrand it. Check it out. 30-50 bucks

Yeah, there are multiple "companies" who sell this knife as their own. Just save up for a bit and her a proper Microtech. Just got myself their Ultratech and it is amazing.

For a cheap knockoff otf try DHgate. They have the same "quality" knives, I use the term "quality" loosely, on that site for great prices. I got a clone microtech that's great for the price. Now if you really want a top grade otf check out the Hawk Deadlock that's the knife to get. It is the top of the food chain. Nevermind it doesn't have the name recognition it's hands down the best otf on the market, it also starts at $1000. But besides the quality materials it's the only otf I know of with absolutely no blade play what so ever. Happy hunting/knife shopping.

Tactical Toolbox, realistically speaking, how do they hold up?

This knife has been my EDC beater for work for about 6 months now, I work a job that requires me to open cardboard boxes and cut ties around bundles of wood. It's been amazing and, even after daily abuse and hours upon hours of use, I only have it sharpened every two weeks, (I have the double sided dagger, not serrated, and use both sides, the guy that sharpens it for me does it for free because he's who I bought it from), it's a great knife and works like a charm. I don't think you could find a better OTF knife for the same price, I got mine for $70 and would buy another the exact same day if I lost it, can't imagine working without it.

They do have caps to replace glass breaker
@NikeaTiber

@Tactical Toolbox Use tri-flow or a similar high quality lubricant instead of wd-40, which isn't a lubricant at all. As for the glass breaker, unscrew it and measure the thread. Use a button head hex screw and an appropriately sized washer to secure the pocket clip (I'm assuming the glass breaker secures the pocket clip the the handle).

id be willing to bet this is similar to what exiled cutlery and ravencrest tactical did where they rebrand a 35 dollar chinese knife and increase the price
@TacticalToolbox
@TacticalToolbox 7 лет назад
That's definitely possible.... Same thing happens in the firearms industry... There are only 3 or 4 companies who make BGGs, then companies rebrand them for a profit

Tactical Toolbox yeah its the name of the game, its still decent knives, ive owned a few of the chinese otf's and havent had an issue even when they were my edc

Knives don't run out of bullets, and if it comes down to that you'll be happy you have something sharp close to hand . . . OTF knifes are easy to use and relatively reliable, I'll put it to you this way if you carry a double action revolver as you EDC you'd probably prefer as standard fixed blade maybe a folder if you prefer a semi automatic then you might prefer a automatic knife such as an OTF... 🥃 cheers 🍻

The best way to tell is to put one in your hand and your pocket even if it's just at your local dealers counter I know that's what it took for me...

Anybody have any long term experience with these now? Or is it just better to go pay the difference and get the Microtech? I am know people who have had those for years....and they hold up.....but if these are only good for a year.....then you might as well just pay the money...... Good review though man. Thanks for putting it up. Subbed and liked.
