Just ordered my first cobratec, the FS-3 Large with a dagger blade. Should be here in a couple days. But I fell in love with my brothers and immediately ordered one for myself

I bought a cobratec over a year ago at a gun show. It was cheap and a fun knife broke it quickly and sent it to cobra tech and they fixed it no questions asked and sent it back to me and it's been fine ever since. Needs to be cleaned out as of right now but still been a decent knife. Nothing special but decent

The small one is blade geometry very thick behind the edge. More useful for stabbing.

The best budget otf I've found,is mtnforged,unfortunatly no longer in bus.Theirs ran eightynine to onenineteen,depending on the steel,pretty darn close to microtech,imo.If you ever run across one,grab that sucker

I've carried the medium FSX with the tanto blade daily for the last 10 months. The only problem I have had is the glass breaker was stripped out of the box so I have no belt clip. Could have sent it back but didn't

I have actually grown to like my Cobra tech a lot more since this video. I lost it in my yard for 2 weeks during a really rainy time and found it, it ejected out immediately, I was shocked. Sucks that yours came defective though not speaking much to the quality of their product LOL

I feel like these knives are illegal because lawmakers just imagine they’re super powerful springs meant to old up to someone and punch the button over and over and have the knife stab them up… obviously it’s just another option of opening the knife, and arguably one of the slower more fumblely options when you compare to pocket catches or bearing flippers.

The blades in otf knives do not come out with even remotely enough strength to scratch someone. They are actually being "thrown" out of the knife with a couple of small, not very strong, springs.

@@glennjames7107 Well.. depends on the knife i guess, I was trying to clip one onto my pocket once and mistook the button for the clip, it went about 1/4 of an inch into my hand (I measured the tip vs the diameter of the wound) and it took hours to stop bleeding. Still though, if it was as if some people thought, I would have had a blade through my hand and probably needed stitches at minimum, surgery at worst.

I have a cobratec side opening auto,that is identical to the protech magic, just a quarter in larger.Cost eightynine dollars on grindworx,(sorry you're to late,they're discontinued). I have three protechs,fir and finish was just as good on the cobratec,steel wasn't, was d2,but d2 is just fine for the price

All those knives could be sharpen to be like razors. Holding an edge depends on the steel used.

If these are Chinese parts I would assume the d2 used is not American. I saw these in a LGS for $70. The aluminum handle feels and looks great but I waited to do research.

It has been my experience that double edge otfs just don't cut that well. I haven't found one yet that does. They are just too obtuse in my experience and opinion. I have that very same knockout. Have you tried deassisting yours?

Company has some very bad complaints against them for knives failing and poor customer service on BBB.

@@mikepersin6405 Thanks for the feedback. It looks like the company lacks in the customer service department which is disappointing. While assembled here in the states the parts are manufactured in China and shipped here so I'm guessing their customer service remains in China. That being said allow me to share my opinion. There have been 9 complaints in 3 years only 1 in 2019 so its possible with the complaints they've received they stepped it up although I'm only speculating from what I can see. Also if you go to purchase from a dealer bring these concerns up with the dealer to see if they wouldn't cover the product if issue arises since they deal directly with cobratec in volume I'm sure it would be much easier for them to achieve a resolution. If you can live with the dice roll and have a good dealer that will take care of you is it worth saving $200 or more? You get what you pay for in the end right. I deal with Pelican State Armory and Supplies in Mandeville Louisiana and I trust them to handle their suppliers for me if need be.

I sent one with a D2 blade and a normal 440c blade to lee at Luv them knives and had them tested. The D2 is real and it rockwelled about 59.5. the 440c isn't real more likely 8cr13 or 14 and was about 55 hrc. I haven't had any problems with mine. And they're making new types of handles. So if they actually start making 440 c blades and keep making improvements I think they'll be a great company to go with. Look for the video from lee about the knife soon.

@@blueman796 great information thanks for the input. I went ahead and got a D2 about a week ago and I've been giving it hell and the edge seems to be holding. It's nice and tight but like I said it only has a week of use. I'll update as well as I use it. I have a KME I'm gonna take to it and see how 18 degrees holds on it. There's hardly any wobble to mine I'm hoping it holds up if so what a great value.

Awesome video dude! This is the shit I live for on RU-vid thank you. So far the Lightning Ultra OTF all I have but wanna pickup an ACK F-20 next.. Italian made, $60 and so close to a UTX-76 its kinda crazy. Great video man!

The glass breaker is removable and they have a screw cap for it as well to cover the hole.

I do understand peaple want to compare microtech all the time i get that there expensive. But you do get what you pay for i just ordered a new Dirac m390 Double edge only blade model at this time and it is a pure lazer out of box. But i get it peaple don't want spend the money i just have to say that warranty comes with that price tag and they stand bye it. Own many microtech knife's and if you use them and return them to for sharpening spa treatments and the biggest resale value. So at 150 buck's really if you saved save another hundred and you will have a knife that will be worth that money for as lifetime.

That small knife in your video must be fluke because I looked at one today and was very sharp out of the box. I took a piece of paracord and it went through it pretty easy and it it will shave, somewhat. Bought it!

See I am the exact opposite. I won’t even look at a knife without a pocket clip. I like the easy access and it doesn’t move around, fall out, or end up working its way horizontal in my pocket constantly. Clip all the way.

I liked how he compared knives with rough factory edges against his kershaw that’s he clearly sharpened and definitely looks like he’s stropped lmao, don’t get me wrong i get its a matter of how sharp does it come from them, but let’s be honest you don’t have knives and don’t know how to sharpen them, that is hands down the dumbest logic of all time, if you sharpened those knives they’d punch any Microtech in the mouth for terms of worth, they take good edges and are straight beaters

I can't really disagree with you 😅 it was a 13 degree edge put on with a kme. This was an earlier video for me and using the kershaw was really just to compare cutting effort vs the factory. I've now moved on to a Tormek T8 for sharpening and focus more on edges on different steels and varying degrees. Ive only done one video on the T8 its relatively new for me but it is hands down amazing for whipping edges on steel in no time. So you kinda care less about what the steel is and if anything just find the degree for that knife that holds an edge 😁 that video should be near the top of the channel page and thank you for your feedback 🤙

Can you put a link directly to them on their website because I can't find them in search there. It's a budget option, you get what you pay for. Buy from a reputable dealer so if you have problems they can handle warranty for you. Mine is 3 months old I've chipped the tip off of it and give it hell daily, holds a decent edge though.

Yeah, and they are rebranded off the assembly line and sold by a bunch of different companies. You're really only paying $80 extra for the warranty, as the exact same knives can be found unbranded for as little as $40. A fucking scam if I ever saw one. If you want one to play with, dont waste your money.
