As soon as you showed the pictures, all I could start thinking of was East bound and Down by Jerry Reed. My wife will wake me up when I'm sleeping to tell me I've stopped breathing. I told her I was sleeping, her response, 'No you were dying'. I need to get back to the doctor to try again with the sleep study. I've completed sleep studies twice, each time showed apnea, but they just want to keep dragging out test. So I got frustrated by wasting my time. Glad the CPAP is working for you and making such a difference.

Hey Matthew. I actually had to look up that song. Then I immediately remembered it. Awesome fun song, even for a middle-aged headbanger like me. It's really beautiful country down there. IMO, keep pushing for answers. My life has completely turned around with the CPAP machine. Now I only wake up a couple times a night. I actually had a buy a memory foam mattress for the rig because I was tossing & turning so little, my back was sore. The machine itself was $2500 CAD but my group insurance thru work covered most of it. Please let me know how it goes for you. I think this is an important topic that guys (mostly) ignored for far too long.

Nice shave man. Looks like Colonel Conk is catching some attention lately. Sleep Apnoea is no joke. Glad you got it looked after. I've been tested 2 times with negative results although my wife swears I stop breathing at night.

A functional deficiency of vitamin B1 (thiamine) can cause sleep apnea (and other autonomic dysfunction). You could try a thiamine supplement. Start with 100mg per day and increase it from there. It helped my mother with her sleep apnea.

Thanks for the info. This is the first I've heard of a vitamin deficiency as a cause or contributing factor. I'll check further into it. I know that for some ppl sleep apnea is partially caused by excessive weight. Since I suspected I had this even when I was 100 lbs lighter, I think I can rule that out as a primary factor in my diagnosis.

@@KalShaves Yes, the weight thing as causal is quite rare. Look into thiamine deficiency and autonomic dysfunction & thiamine deficiency and sleep apnea as search terms and you'll find good information about it.
