Just caught this video now. Just wanted to say that I know where you are coming from weight wise. Back at the beginning of March I weighed 296 I'm 42 years old. At that point I made the decision to start keto. Today, October 19th 2020 I am proud to say that I've lost 84lbs. I weight in at 212 this morning. YMMV of course but it's something that's doable. There is so many references online for recipes and just general help and guidance it made it pretty much a no brainier to do. You can still enjoy your bacon, eggs, cheese, sausages and pizza just have to make a few small adjustments to the recipes. If you ever want help reach out to me. I'm not going to say that I'm a guru at this but I can offer you the knowledge that I gained from it and you can see how it fits your lifestyle. Take care out there, be safe and good luck on your journey.

First! That was a timely refresh!! Best wishes for your journey. I'll prod you along the way. Here's my story. I'm also 45. I was 180 lbs until a ten years ago. Topped out at 220. Lost 10 of that a while ago. Lost the remaining 30 in the last 6 months by doing these things. They might not be for you, but it worked for me. 1. Plant based diet when at home (it's too hard when travelling with work). Needed to learn how to cook again. Tried all kinds of recipes. Biggest thing I found - don't try to substitute veggie products for meat, it tastes awful and the texture is wrong. Instead, just eat differently. Pick Up Limes is a Canadian who lives in Europe and she has some really tasty recipes on her RU-vid channel, and she breaks down the cooking so it's simple. 2. Walk to re-energize. I'm a coffee freak and have backed off to 2 cups a day (from about 10). A stupid 15 minute brisk walk ended up giving me a bunch of energy, without getting all sweaty or sore. I like a morning walk before work; even 5 minutes helps. 3. I stopped drinking. Beer was my preference. I had a problem anyways, so it was for the best. 4. Eliminate sweets/refined sugars/high starch foods. I have a major sweet tooth and love breads. I started to substitute home-made hummous and veggie sticks. I make the hummous at home from dried chickpeas soaked overnight. I can flavour it however I want. It's really easy to do if you have a high-speed blender (i.e., a Vitamix). Great when I'm on the road with work. 5. Develop good sleep habits. I now read before bed instead of being on my phone, and I use a headlamp as my light source, so I don't look at a light when turning it off. And I put my phone out of reach at bed time. 6. Walk places instead of driving. This is easy in my neighbourhood, anyways. 7. Eliminate convenience snack foods (like potato chips). 8. Work to your strengths. Never going to do fasting or cleanses Know your limits and what you enjoy versus what you'll start with good intentions and eventually bail on because it's a chore. Took a good 3 months before any of this really started to help. Don't know what took me so long to get going, but I'm healthier than I've been in 15 years.

Do walk at home videos on RU-vid in the truck... close the front window curtains and you can walk in place. There short ones that about 17 minutes long and it’s a full mile Of cardio. You’d be surprised how much better you’ll feel.

Ken ... good topic. I’m 53yrs of age, 5’10 and was at 220lbs two months ago which is heaviest I’ve ever been. Been on and off dieting over the years, weight up and down. Believe it or not today I’m using an iPhone app called Loseit to basically count calories. Been on it for 75 days and I’m down 15lbs, currently at 205. Like to get down to 195-200. I try to bike to work when I can and I start hockey this weekend plus gotta walk the dog daily so I consider myself ok active for 53. Regarding reduced food intake ... it requires discipline. The app makes you realize some foods are just not worth the calories they contain. So far been working for me...I just hope I’m disciplined enough to maintain it. Good luck in your weight loss journey ... always a rough road to be on.

I recommend a book by Dr. Jason Fung called the obesity code. Get the audiobook, it's worth as listen.

Hey man. I think this is something a lot of us deal with us. I'm thinking once every week or 2. How I feel and how my clothes fit is more important.
