If you have ever seen silent movies you discovered that the camera could capture excellent actors silent emoting. Didn't have to say a word it was all in the face. Sometimes I run the scene where the Major feels very angry just to see how Anthony Valentine projects it without a word. Wunder bar but then Valentine always gave his best.

What did Ray Barrett do for Thunderbirds ? It was my favourite kid's series as a 6 year old boy and I wanted to be the Pilot of Thunderbird 2. It was a "Cult" Series.

@@Biggles2498 He was the voice of John Tracy (the father) he did other characters but that was the voice that mattered as far as I was concerned.

@@grogery1570 Nah, the father was Jeff Tracy. He was voiced by Peter Dyneley. John Tracy was in space on Thunderbird 5, sharing the duties with Alan. Gerry Anderson hated the John character so they kept him up in the space station for most episodes, although he usually appeared briefly in every episode because Thunderbird 5 was the first to pick up the calls for help in most cases. You are correct about him being voiced by Barrett though.

ullmann is more likeable.....he actually is quite fair and easy going.....he is wehrmacht so is a loyal soldier whereas mohn is brainwashed........mohn loves being hated

Tungsten Kid : I believe Ray Barrett was the voice of the Pilot of Thunderbird 5 which was the first port of call with communication to Tracy Island , correct me if I am wrong.

Jon Hart: Ullmann was a typical Reserve Wehrmacht Officer "Strict but Fair" who always looked at both sides of the story. Indeed The Wehrmacht were not enamoured with the SS or Gestapo but unfortunately had to obey orders as they were seen as representatives of The Fuhrer.

@@Biggles2498 The Wehrmacht were generally quite scrupulous in their behaviour towards allied prisoners. However, it was very different in the East where over 3 million Soviet pows died under their custody.

Agreed , to have qualified for those great war trio medals he would have to had been at least 20 in 1918 to qualify thuis in Colditz in 1942 he would have been 42 ? way too old for active air crew

The characgters back story, he was involved in the ground fighting on Crete which would make him a Luftwaffe paratrooper. They also fought on the eastern front against the Russians where he received his wounds that took him out of combat. Then served directly with Hitler. In this case plenty of opportunity to earn these types of awards leading ground troops even though a Luftwaffe officer and to be awarded any number of awards for being in command structure

@@pdxyyz4327 It bears no resemblance to reality so totally unrealistic and a fantastic flight of fancy. At least try and make it realistic and believable! No Fullschirmjager was in those mixture of battles or was awarded that range of the very highest awards.

Not to mention that anyone who is that antagonistic to every single person he comes across would have been lucky to graduate flight school! And let's face it, there aren't many heroes who didn't have the complete support and love of their comrades.

Top - DFC. Then the Great War trio - 14/15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal. Last is the Croix de Geurre. Being a foreign decoration, it comes after British medals and decorations.

Aircrew especially were not allowed to take personal items, they had to be bagged up and kept in their flight locker for when they came back. Well, that's assuming that they come back.

The Wehrmacht controlled Prisoner of War camps and followed the Geneva Convention rules nearly 99% of the time. They did this, because the majority of the Wehrmacht were not sadists like the bastards in the SS, SD and Gestapo. They were army men who believed in the rights and rules of prisoners of war.

I agree, not to mention the impertinence of ignoring Col Preston when ordered to be quiet for the first few seconds. Appalling lack of discipline.

wolfstrela- I've watched them all, but it seems like its always a damp, dreary day. Maybe the sun did come out once in a while but not often. LOL

I think it was summer at the start of the 1st series because they played cricket, and then there was an episode where they had to put the cricket stuff away because it was autumn. I reckon they kept it as winter for the rest because it gives a dreary atmosphere.

Since you brought it up: the term here we might want as a writer is "PATHETIC FALLACY" which means attributing emotion to aspects in nature. Like saying the clouds seem sullen, leaves dance, etc. Thanks for that comment I would never have thought of this term without you pointing it out.

One must give evidence of that very knowledge - by which I mean: Brent obviously did not know HOW Collins cheated. It's not always the shuffling or the marked cards. Besides: (a.f.a.i.k.) to cheat cunningly was considered to be something of a gentlemans craft (at least in the 18th & 19th century) and it took a lot of said craft to expose such gentlemens feats...

A hot air balloon is huge and takes an awful lot of hot air to make it lift. To do that nowadays, the balloon is laid out on the ground with the mouth held open as powerful gas burners effectively blast hot air into it until it has enough in it to start to stand upright, and eventually enough to rise. The amount of heat needed is, however, considerable and the burners are very noisy. Where could the balloon be laid out to start with? How/where would they get bottled gas? If they simply used a fire to provide the hot air, the fabric of the ballon would have to somehow be supported in an upright position to allow the hot air to rise into it. Such a fire would be visible for miles and you couldn't have it anywhere inside with wooden roof beams etc. It's actually much easier to make a glider!

Balloons are unsteerable and totally dependent on wind direction. Where would they land?

I know it's been a long time, but I did look, over and over, and couldn't see anything that you might be referring to.

That scene is seen at 29:08 but Collins' two cards ( Ace of Hearts & Jack of Spades) were always the same as before that and they never changed. So I am wondering if he has just hidden into his sleeve one useless card which had already been swapped with Ace of Hearts or Jack of Spades at the first stage of this card game session.

He was cheating with marked cards the whole time. At times he was even loosing on purpose to let peoples guards down
