My cat lived to nearly 21. She had cancer twice, the second time having to lose one of her eyes. I'm sure Cole can tough it out with all the love and support he's getting. My best wishes.

My cat passed away due to similar circumstances. Congestion that was getting steadily worse, X-Rays didn't return anything conclusive. They wanted to go forward with more testing and scans and with the old boy being 17 years old I made the decision to not put him through any more anaesthesia or taking him to the vets where he hated it. Tried steroids and pain relief to make him comfortable to little avail so I put him to rest. So sorry for your loss.

Poor Cole! He's lucky to have such a dedicated & caring owner, though. Best wishes for him and the rest of the family!!

Here's hoping the treatments work, that he remains comfortable and that Cole becomes cancer free.

Hi Chris, I am so sorry about the loss of poor Cole. My black kitty Tabitha also had squamous cell carcinoma of her upper palate. She was 20 years old, and also had severe osteoarthritis, pancreatitis, and CKD4. I took her to the vet dentist because of a mass and worsening wheezing and rhinitis. She actually was bleeding from the mass, which was why we took her to a vet dentist (vet oral surgeon). The dentist told me that he could resect the tumor, but it would have meant partial removal of her upper palate and she would need to remain on tube feedings, possibly indefinitely. For a cat who still loved her wet food and still had a fair appetite, taking away one of the few pleasures in her life - at the age of 20, when she had nausea from the pancreatitis and renal failure, and pain from her arthritis - didn't seem right for her. It is so hard to let go :-( She died 3 years ago. We adopted a young black kitty from a rescue, and this kitty (Gece) died 2 months ago of FIP. Tabitha died from a gradual disease at an old age, and Gece died in the prime of her life in less than a week of being sick. I feel yours and Jess' pain so much. I write this because a huge fear after the death of a beloved cat is to take a stance of "Never ever ever again, I never want to go through this pain again". If we didn't adopt Gece, she may have languished in the rescue and her outcome may have been worse. She was a happy girl - FIP is so random and cruel, as is cancer. We have adopted a black kitten - Lovey - about 1 month after Gece died, so that Gece's "sister" (Sevgi) didn't become too used to being a loner cat. Sevgi was adopted from a shelter, and is also a black cat. Lovey also came from a rescue. I miss Tabitha and Gece soooo much, and thinking about them always brings tears to my eyes. But it was such a privilege to have them in my life. RIP dear Cole and thank you for being part of our lives.

The fact he is not hiding and is eating and being affectionate is the best sign ever he is doing okay despite the cancer and rough treatment.

My first cat had cancer at the age of 8, and she defeated it, living for other 11 years, and dying from age related diseases.

I just saw your video about Cole ‘s passing….I am so sorry 😞……I just lost my own kitty…Katie….cancer hit her like a freight train sniffles for 4 days, a vet visit and cancer everywhere and within a few days she was gone. My heart breaks with you . I am convinced it’s the dry kibble killing cats and am changing her sisters diet to raw meats…..

My kitty lost her fight with cancer last month, but she was a lot older than Cole. You and he will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Healing vibes sent to Cole. My cat has hyperthyroidism and needed radiation because he was allergic to the meds. His radiation was just one pill but he had to stay at the vet hospital for 11 days. They wouldn't send him home until he was less radioactive. That was over two years ago. Fluffy is 13 and going strong. You got this, Cole.

My wife started crying as soon as she saw this...we lost our own black boy to lymphoma when he was only 12. That was 8 years ago, but you never get over it and, too often, you relive it. We wish you the best, you are in our prayers. Our pets are such special emissaries of Love, and Love will get us through and bring us back together if we have to be apart for awhile. Truly, we feel with you, share your journey, and hope for a good outcome.

Animals have an incredible pain threshold, I mean he must be so uncomfortable but he's still playful. That just shows you how much love he has received in his life.

My heart aches for your situation. I lost my beloved rescue "Puck" from cancer in 2017. He was only 5 years old. I'd like to believe my husband and I gave Puck, and other kitties we have adopted over the years, the best life he could have had. He was only about a year old when we got him. You have loving, decent hearts. I am very sure that Cole enjoyed his life with you, and felt dearly loved by his 'people/parents' right up to the end. I am so sorry. He enjoyed his life because of you. Cancer is just horrible, it steals what we love far too soon.

the little guy is a trooper, the most heartbreaking part of a cat illness is they of course don't understand you're tying to help them, you both stay strong!

Please allow me to say the following. I am late to this video. I've seen both Cole and Marmalade for a while, and when I saw he was sick, I was hoping he would make it. Then, I saw the video of his passing. I sob like a child, as a grown up man and very macho, for me Cole was a special kitty, and it shattered my heart to see him go. I want to thank you for giving Cole the best of you.

Broke my heart to hear him breathing with such difficulty. Poor baby but he has the best pet parents to help him heal. Praying for this little guy and that all goes smoothly for the whole family.

I just watched a more recent video and then discovered this one. My cat is 17 years and 2 months of age and has developed early stage kidney disease. However, she has a good appetite, good energy, her hypothyrodism is well cotrolled with meds so her T4 readings are right where they should be. She does not have diabetes. You have and are doing the best you can for your cats as am I. I hope this gives you comfort as it does me. Take one day at a time, love them every minute of their lives and give them the best care possible.

It's heartbreaking to see and hear a cat struggling to breathe, so I appreciate you doing everything you can for Cole. I made a different decision for my sweet boy Socks at the older age of 15, and I miss him still 5 yrs later.

I lost my boy Bailey (he was a Ragdoll) about 1 1/2 yrs ago to stomach cancer. He was 16 yrs old. I loved my boy so much and miss him every day. Unfortunately we couldn’t afford to get him any treatments, but we started him on CBD oil and a two week death sentence turned into a year more of life with my hubby and I.
