Columbia Corner Cobra Demonstration

I love using my Columbia Corner Cobra to apply NoCoat bead that I buy in 100' rolls which I prefer over sticks since you can make them any length you'd like. Applying mud with my CanAm tube and flat applicator is easier and allows for a soft consistent coat. When loading mud by hand it's usually on the thicker side which can cause a wavy finish because it's more difficult to control the pressure by hand when wiping. Once it's set to where you want it the Corner Cobra gives the same flat result each time.

I've wanted a tool for NoCoat for many years. It's great that Columbia finally made one and got it right the first time. Doing them by hand works but nothing beats the Corner Cobra for efficiency.

You'll like it. If you're only doing NoCoat with it get yourself a set of wheels made for it. The standard wheels are good for other beads but not so great for NoCoat. I only use my Cobra for NoCoat. I have other rollers I use for regular bead.

@@Mudslingr I've never used no coat before actually. Ain't no 90s in the homes I work in. More like 80s and 100 degree angles.

I have yet to try my corner cobra, my only concern is using this on bad framing as it would just follow the board. Every job I do bulk heads are never straight, therefore I'm tweaking beads almost every job and I'm talking brand new homes too. People just don't care to frame them properly anymore. Wood is also warped.
@Mudslingr
@Mudslingr Год назад
I think you would be pleasantly surprised at how nice the Corner Cobra works. Put it to use and find out. Your bulkhead or off angle would have to be extremely askew for it not to work properly. I have never come across anything that bad. If it was I would have had it fixed.

thanks for the vid... doing my first house last week and i have learned a lot of you so thanks! loving the no coat... dont have a cobra so lots pressure... its a barn house, tons of angles... should have got that cobra :)

Are you using a tube to load mud with ? If not, keep your mud as loose as possible without it running down the wall which will make it easier to wipe flat.

@@Mudslingr im working on getting better with the tube and flat applicator... im pretty messy lol!
@Mudslingr
@Mudslingr 2 года назад
@@mdmd-mf3bg Lol. It takes a little practice. Don't push too hard on the drywall with the tube while loading. You want to feel the head "floating" on the mud is how I describe it.Pushing will make it messy because it causes you to instinctively push harder on the handle causing you to apply too much mud. Main thing is mud consistency.

@@Mudslingr i think half my problem is im using a 'Better then ever' flat apllicator on a Columbia tube and the head is super stiff... doesnt want to move with the wall... and im still working on mud consistency. its hard to get that perfect.... im usally to thick because when i wet it, i get the mud to wet and i wear most of the mud home :)
@Mudslingr
@Mudslingr 2 года назад
@@mdmd-mf3bg I can't speak for any of those brands because I have a canam tube and heads but if yours are new they do need to be broken in. Being tight is normal when they are new. Make your mud like pancake batter. It a matter of speed and handle pressure. The slower you move the tube the messier it will be.

Good video! I might have to get one...boarding a house with a top floor that follows the roof line, hips and valleys in every room 😬 Curious whats the benefit of using nocoat for 90's?
@Mudslingr
@Mudslingr 2 года назад
Thank you ! It will definitely help you with off angles. NoCoat has a very crisp corner on a 90 which gives a great look and you can cut the rolls to any length you need. Two in this video were 171-1/8" long and two were 112". My longest ever pieces were two 90ft long and two 30ft long on a store bulkhead. Was easier to keep a nice straight line without joints.

Nothing wrong with bead. Although I only use Trim-Tex beads when I do .I prefer to fit full runs with NoCoat when a full bead won't. And you use less mud with NoCoat.
