Loving my Comandante! It fits well with my black coffee setup. Their customer support and after sales is also a plus!

Would love to see your review on kinu filter burr vs c40 in near future, maybe?

You can learn more about the Kinu filter burr in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CQlcjQTQHok.html. We didn't talk about the filter burr nor the Comandante Red Clix (an axle that increases grind adjustments) in this comparison because they are extras (in other words, they don't come standard with the grinders). If you already own a Kinu, though, and you want to use it for filter, the coarse burr is a must.

If you need finer adjustment on Commandante, you can buy the Red Clix mod. Personally I have M47 Classic with an extra pourover Burr, but I have same opinion as you, it is capable for doing filter grind, but it's not optimal.
@ISofyaMNajib
@ISofyaMNajib 3 года назад
Does it take longer time to grind with the filter burr on m47 classic? For pour over I can do 20g in less than 60secs now (fine-med size) but yes, there's some fines. Does it happen with the filter burr?

Does the filter burr deliver a noticeably cleaner cup? I'm thinking of getting one and would like to know whether it's worth it
@madrian_hello

@@ISofyaMNajib yes, definitely longer. 20g about 2minutes, but it is also double as easy to turn the grinder.

Don’t buy the Kinu! The catch cup stops working, and the company tells you to go to a hardware store for rubber bands. I’m not exaggerating, and I was not rude to them.

Kinu and Comandante instructions say not wash or immerse the grinder in water, but what will happen if I wash it occasionally? Will water corrode carbon steel burrs, cause some grease to seep out of the bearings or something worse?
@primacoffeeequipment
@primacoffeeequipment 3 года назад
We would just recommend they take out the center burr on occasion and brush it and wipe it with a clean towel.

Also, how about addin red click system to Comandante? Does it helps improving the dialing in the finer range?
@primacoffeeequipment
@primacoffeeequipment Год назад
@@Cezve_340ml Yes, both grinders are capable of turkish grinding. Redclix won't allow the comandante to grind finer, it will only add more grind size options within the same grind range.

The best way to get rid of the oil smell is to grind beans. After a few uses you shouldn't be able to smell it anymore.

@@CoffeeChannel Wow, ok, that's quite coarse. After cleaning, do you push the axle in until the spring resists, or all the way until the burrs touch? I do the former, so perhaps the zero point isn't quite the same

One thing I can't seem to find with these reviews is a more detailed diameter comparison between the two. I don't really have the biggest of hands and I've seen in some reviews about how the Comandante is pretty wide and can get tiring when grinding while the Kinu is narrower and can grind through coffee easier. How does the grinding feel between the two units? Will the Comandante be more tiring to grind in the long run?
@yoditonugrahacky765
@yoditonugrahacky765 3 года назад
The Comandante's diameter is not that big to be a significant con or make you tired of grinding. I’m a 168cm Asian with pretty small hands and I have no problems using it for more than a year already

Comandante is 62 mm in diameter -- i measured it for a stand design :). I find it bothers my hands less than the C2 with the all knurled exterior.

Depending on which electric grinders you're talking about, the grind quality will be very similar. The experience will obviously be much different though.

What about a pour-over using the replacement burr of the Kinu...does it perform better? Is it a hassle to switch it out?
@primacoffeeequipment
@primacoffeeequipment 10 месяцев назад
The optional pour over burr does improve the Kinu's performance for coarser grinds! The Kinu can be easily disassembled without tools, so we'd say it's pretty easy!

It's unfortunate, but the silver lining to this was that Prima only had the Lido grinders and the Option-O Remi available. Between those two companies I had to do my research and gauge if it was worthwhile to wait for a restock. I found a lot of advantages (given my needs) to the Lido ET which I had initially overlooked, and eventually settled on that (the positives for me are actually too many to list in a short reply here). But I feel like a lot of people who want a Comandante would actually be happier with the Option-O Remi, and am frankly surprised it's still in stock with Prima.
@adamglass2599
@adamglass2599 3 года назад
@@stirfryjedi i was able to get the Comandante from from Comandante USA a few days after this reply. I'm sure all these high end grinders have their strengths and weaknesses. I happen to like the glass (dishwasherable) jars on the Comandante and the overall short/squat nature of the thing. I do wish sometimes it had a big display on it saying 'i'm on grind click X' though :).

I don"t understand - Why Kinu can"t grind light roasted coffee without stops ? This is quality grinder
@primacoffeeequipment
@primacoffeeequipment 3 года назад
We agree. Kinu grinders are quality grinders. However, the burrs tend to struggle with dense, light roast (what some refer to as Nordic roast) coffees. They still can grind those coffees, but more effort is required to turn the crank arm.

Thanks for watching, Adam, and for your comment! We always love to hear what equipment our viewers are using and why. We are aware of the Red Clix and will have it on the website in 2022. We did not mention it in this video, just as we did not mention the Kinu's pour over burr, because we wanted to compare the grinders as they are. We want our customers to know what they are getting when they open the box. The Red Clix is a great addition to the Comandante, as you say, but it does not come with the Comandante, just as the pour over burr is a great addition to the Kinu, but it does not come with the Kinu. Thanks again!
