You also have to factor in the price of shipping your cards there and then shipping your unsold, or purchased cards back to you.

Been using comc for years and still learnt a couple of things - lol Interesting about the auctions, dI think you;re right about the delayed delivery times impacting positive feedback which in turn impacts priority listing positions. Future content idea - record yoru next submissions over the different platforms and track how they go in terms of fees, seling price, net profit, mistakes made and learning points etc.

Actually, it's funny you mention that video suggestion, because the next two videos scheduled for release on my channel here over the next few days are one about a stash of cards I'm sending to COMC and the next one is a stash of cards going to StarStock. I like the idea of following up with them later to see how it is all going on down the road, and highlighting some of the learning and other things like you mention.

I’m new to all this, breaks etc. as someone whose gambled on sports. There’s no separation for me between a break and gambling. Same buzz and disappointment depending on what’s opened as your horse winning or falling.
@scoa
@scoa 4 месяца назад
Breaks definitely can be a form of gambling, for sure. I think 95% of people who participate in breaks do so with the same frame of mind as gambling. There's a few people who may just want to be collecting cards from their favorite team, and for them a pick-your-own team break may actually not be a gamble but a way to get cards from your favorite team without having to pay the cost for cards from all the other teams you don't collect. But, yeah, I think that's rare. It's mostly just gambling. Big part of the reason I never break. I love sports cards, I dislike breaks quite a lot.

@@scoa how much does it cost to buy a card on COMC and NOT flip it but to let it stay in your account?
@scoa
@scoa 2 года назад
@@petejames1326 Depends. If you don't put it up for sale, free. Or if it's for sale for $0.75 or less, free. Cards you have up on their market cost $0.01 per month. If it is a card worth over, I think, $100, there is an additional cent or two per month for extra security fee. So very very little overall.

Alot of people forget about that 10$ cash out fee. I do think selling, then turning into other cards and cash out/ship those cards instead of money is probably a better use. Im trying to figure out what cards work best for me on comc. Right now im looking at replacing the ebay standard envelope sales with comc and sending those 2-20 cards in. nice video.
@scoa
@scoa 2 года назад
I think COMC works great for those $2-$20 cards. Much easier than eBay, and even with the cash out fee, the fee percentages are ebay-like. And a lot of buyers in COMC looking to buy cards in that range. And if you just get other cards instead, then you can avoid that cash out fee altogether. I wouldn't go any lower than a $2 card (maybe even $3) though. I think anything $2 or less may work better within some kind of small lot on eBay.
@hiimharvey4191
@hiimharvey4191 Год назад
maybe if you get a good deal, otherwise better off cashing out, because $10 is probably less than the ebay fee’s on selling a decently valued card

Quick question. Some of my cards on COMC say Items stored remotely. I'm not sure why cause they got shipped to comc headquarters. My question is has this happened to you? And if so. Do you think it slowed down your sales? Thank You. I enjoyed all your content.
@scoa
@scoa Год назад
Hmm... that actually hasn't happened to me, as far as I can remember. I thought it was just cards shipped to the COMC facility in Canada that took some time to migrate to the Redmond location. But I just did a little forum reading, and someone did say that during Covid times they would sometimes process cards off-site and then bring them into the main facility a few days later. I don't know if maybe they did something like that with some of your cards for some reason.

@scoa

I actually have another video dropping next week that talks about 5 strategies that might work for people with COMC that I'm finding useful, you should keep an eye out for that one. If you're looking to flip some cards, it's all about finding the right cards, which isn't always easy, though plenty of possibilities exist. Sometimes I find looking at cards by "recently added" can find some unfound gems occasionally that haven't been seen by anyone else yet. Otherwise, I think it's just a matter of finding players and cards that are a bit underpriced and that are searched for at least somewhat regularly (like hyped players, or players in important upcoming games, etc), where the price is no higher than eBay comps, preferably a little under, and where there is a decent gap between the card your gonna buy and the next one listed. But though there are possibilities, I don't think it's easy to make a ton flipping on COMC, too many people looking to do the same.
@mikekane9805

COMC is expensive. If you use the elite service, it's $2 per card to upload and $1 when it sells. So, it's actually $3 per card which is a lot. Then, it's marked up a lot on ebay and of course there's sales tax. So, watch out for those hidden fees. They deal in high volume, so they should charge less per card. But they're so greedy that they still charge a lot per card. Charging the seller for shipping as well is ridiculous. Then, they charge the 10% cash out fee on paypal.
@scoa
@scoa Год назад
COMC does have a lot of fees. But, for me, the way I use COMC it makes the fee come out to basically the same as what I would be paying if I sold on eBay (usually actually less than eBay's fees), but I don't have to do any of the packing, shipping or anything else (plus I don't live in the US, so selling on eBay is really not an easy option for me). I don't use the elite service often, so usually I'm just paying $0.50 per card to upload. If your card sells on eBay, it doesn't effect you in any way, so that part is irrelevant to me as a seller. COMC just ends up making a bit more money, but most of my cards sell through the platform itself anways. They don't charge the seller a shipping fee, unless the seller is buying a card of course, then you have to pay $0.25 per card to ship to yourself. But I don't mind that. $0.25 shipping for a card I buy (or $1 if graded) is great. And then I avoid the 10% cash out fee by using the money to buy other cards either for my PC or to sell elswhere. So I avoid that fee too.

@scoa

Personally, I'd say probably not. $0.50 ingestion fee per card, plus shipping your cards there and other little fees. You probably won't make much there for such cheap cards. I tend to only send in cards worth at least $2 or $3 minimum. SportsLots might be one worth checking out though. They are a good place to go for for the lowest end of cards. You can sell in player lots or set lots or something like that.

With Comc do you pay the 2.9% + .30 per transaction for PayPal like you would on eBay? If you don’t that would put eBay fees closer to 20% +.30 and then add in your shipping.
@scoa
@scoa 2 года назад
With COMC auctions, you don't have to pay that additional PayPal fee. So maybe the overall fee using COMC is actually ever so sightly slightly less than eBay.

Haha. Yeah, COMC definitely could help you clean up your card area for sure. I like them for lower end cards a lot, though I think cards that are going to sell for at least $2 is as low as I'd go on the platform, just because of ingestion fees. Anything lower than that you wanted to clear out may be better in bulk lots on SportsLots or something, imo.

StarStock is pretty much dead now. I wouldn't recommend them for anything at this point. They no longer accept raw cards, and the marketplace is a ghost town of people just hoping to sell of the last of what they have there. COMC I do recommend, the more I use them. $5-$60 rookie cards are all in that range of the kind of cards that do well on COMC.

Don't Fk with COMC. If it's certain cards, fine. but I just tried out of a personal experiment to find a few centered cards, after buying a load of cards that I thought were centered last year. Most of them did come back fairly centered, but at least 3-4 of them were WAAAY off. soo off that I know for a fact i didn't pick those cards. I though Okay... maybe my eye's were off on this one. So tried again, and this time picked three very highly ranked prospects, and I checked every card and double triple checked they were centered, or so damn close that it's hard to tell. ALL cards came back Waaaay off center. They're Fukn people. Fair warning.
